Cool whip, solid gunplay, and hand to hand combat, and none of that light crafting bullshit.

Challenging puzzles and excellent platforming ( not uncharted/tomb raider )

Indiana Jones' brand isn't gunning down tons of enemies over and over for the entire game. Hopefully it has more emphasis on puzzles and exploration and less on being a TPS.
In this day and age? And from the makers of Wolfenstien?... I think you might be setting yourself up for disappointment.

A modern Indiana Jones games would be much better off being made in the mold of Quantic Dream / Supermassive Games type "modern point & click adventures". QD or SM who made Until Dawn would have been a much better choice.

Giving the IP to a shooter dev is gonna mean it ends up being a shooter not much different from Uncharted or modern Tomb Raider. I'd love to be wrong, but the cynic in me just can't shake its depressing pragmatism.

A focus on exploration with less fights overall but either higher difficulty or more complexity per encounter would be enough for me.

I don't consider Uncharted much more than a playable movie. It would be really neat to see a refined open world Indiana Jones based in the 1930's. I would buy an Xbox for that alone.

Well, Uncharted 4 was largely an unplayable movie - about 1/3 climbing, 1/3 boring turgid exposition and 1/3 actual gameplay.

It's a pity, since some of the actual gameplay was great.

I think the time period, might be enough to add something to the genre. They can really pick a great setting and great locations. Maybe some wide-open world levels. I'm actually not entirely sure how they could improve or combine the Tomb Raider and Uncharted formulas. Some crazy set pieces, some gun play, some hand to hand combat, whip play and of course a great story. I don't recall much about the N64 game, it wasn't very memorable. The SNES game was a good plat former for the time.

i think that's an important question to ask.. i honestly can't think of much... maybe just, bigger cast , much higher stakes, handling popular mythologies and stuff (holy grail, indian death cults, arc of the covenant, area 51, etc), just much larger scale, and yeah historical stuff works well

I kind of hope it is set in the 1930's. kind of trying to capture the sarcastic film noir style they were going with in the movies. But I also hope that the treasure puzzles will be much more challenging, rather than just a bunch of action fps action

I have faith in Machine Games with the IP. I think some of ya'll are being way too cynical about this. Young Blood was a dud but The New Order and The New Colossus are some excellent titles. MG knows how to tell a good story and I believe they can handle the adventure/exploration well. There were hints of it in The New Order especially the choices and areas. It'll be good. Hope for the best.

was going to say this....they really nailed the narrative side on the NO and NC
if they can capture the feel of the indy movies (the first 3) it will be great

When you think about it.....Machine Games are underrated as hell. They are great storytellers and they know how to do some dope ass combat. I still think it was a crime that The New Order didn't win 2014 GOTY, it definitely deserved it. TNC was GOTY material as well.

First I think we need to know what type of game it is. Assuming it’s another Tomb Raider/Uncharted is odd when the dev has never made a game like that.

To be fair the last game we have to compare it to is the Emperors Tomb.

It was very uncharted before Uncharted was a thing.

Yeah but what I mean is that at this point we have no idea what type of game it’ll be. We only know it’s made by MachineGames and published by Bethesda with Todd Howard holding the wallet. My uneducated guess is that it’ll be a first person action adventure, but who knows, could be a sidescrolling 2D platformer like Rick Dangerous 🤷‍♂️

Does it have to offer anything new? It can be just fun. Look at Spiderman PS4 game, one of the best selling games on the system and I think everyone would agree that the game didn't innovate shit.

Sounds good, but in these times if it's gonna be some big blockbuster AAA game you know they're gonna dumb it down for imbeciles like Uncharted.
It will be on gampass they can do almost everything (as long as it will be good) because people will play it anyway.
