New headset nice but I really want to have much improved controllers. The PS3 era move controller is simply not up for the task.

i bought a pair about a year ago. didnt do any research or look up how they work, just needed them for certain vr games. when i got them i discovered they did not have analog sticks and instead you have to use X, sqaure, triangle and circle for movement........ uuhhhh what!? are you fucking kidding me? whoever thoguth that was EVER a good idea needs to be fired on the spot. my god, lol! used them twice and havent touched them since.

the only button I use to move in Skyrim, Borderlands, NMS and countless others is the central Move button: you hold it and use the whole left Move controller as a giant analog stick. No big deal and don't know what game you played that used that crappy configuration...

not ideal, but far from a complete shit show some picture it

Happy to see Farpoint being free on PS+ this month. It's one of those games I never picked up since I always got the impression that the Aim controller was a must. Anyone played it without the gun? Worth checking out still?

I bought the Aim bundle with it but also tested with gamepad. Plenty playable. Aim is basically a ds4 in rifle form with 1 move attached to the tip.
 
a good roundup of all psvr games on sale right now. Don't agree with all the ratings he gives, but usually spot on. NMS is 100% buy now, it's easily the game I've played most in VR, nothing comes close to the level of immersion and breadth of experience it offers.



it's sad when big sales like this can offer much to someone already got most. Oh well, I finally got The Room and Skyworld - playing again No Heroes Allowed and Table of Tales made me crave for more...

I'm playing LA Noire and got stuck in some kind of bug. I failed the illegal street racing in the Consul's Car mission and now when I go to the suspect house there is no one there. Guess I'll have to restart the entire mission.

The Skyrim method is a reasonable solution for no analogs, but lack of standardized controls is a problem. For example, they implemented free movement in Gun Club VR, but is very awkward, you press different buttons to move and turn, I could not get usud to do it. In LA Noire they have a horrible inertia when using fast turning that made me sick and the slow turning is reeealy slow. I'm resorting to click turning on this one.

Hopefully the implementation of analog sticks on PSVR2 controllers will lead to better standards in movement.

Picked up Deepdiver, Red Matter, Chair in a Room and Separation. Look forward to checking them out as they've been on my list for a long time. I feel like I need to get Dreams at some point, I guess the longer I wait the more it'll have to offer. It's pretty crazy that Job Simulator has never been heavily reduced as of yet, I'm still waiting for it to hit that 50% mark at least.

Skyrim used to be like it is in NMS now: really analog-like motion with walk speed depending on how much you lean the controller. But they changed it for that method and a back button. Still fine, only detestable when you begin running and it turns head-based direction on regardless if you turned it off in the Options.

these of course are all sad workarounds for the lack of analog sticks. Playable, but often frustrating which is why many hate it and it really comes in the way of sales for such games - at least most offer ds4, but that's no solution either.

psvr2 sure won't have such problems. Move controllers were made for games like that pet thing on PS3, you sitting in a room picking up objects to interact with virtual things. Hey, that's Job Simulators too. Or Tumble. That was the original, limited vision for what VR gaming would be. They'd never expect it to be used in the likes of Skyrim or NMS. LA Noire was ported from pcvr and they clearly never the competition to figure out their solution on psvr.

still, not sure we're getting rid of limited room VR gaming:



they will still be made for people sick to roam around virtual lands...

You should get a PS5. No Man's Sky is much sharper on it and loads faster. I know there is no P5VR at the moment, but the price will very likely be the same when the new VR drops next year, so you might as well get one now and enjoy the limited use for this transitional period. Even in a game with no PS5 improvements, like Skyrim, it is still better than the Pro due to shorter loadings (it seems 3 times faster in Skyrim) and no noise at all.
 
You should get a PS5. No Man's Sky is much sharper on it and loads faster.
I don't care. I have over 100 hours blurry as well as countless hours in other blurry psvr that will see no benefit on PS5. psvr will be forever in my memory a often blurry experience - still a magnificent one.

if they want me to buy their new retro console, they should add VR mode in all racers and FPS in the least, not just a Doom VFR or Doom 3...

is it exclusive? Their previous spy stealth kayak game was exclusive to Oculus and even had David Hater as the villain. perhaps some subtle commentary by Oculus on getting the worst deal?

it's funny, Oculus is more about casual stuff and they heavily promote VR games that don't induce motion sickness, hence the kayak. Sony promotes more core games, hence the free walking here. If only the would exchange their controls! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

All these new announcements and Star Wars Pinball VR. They should have made a State of Play with all these trailers instead of the crappy one we got.

they can't bring the wreath of flatties upon them again, like in the very first SoP where they announced NMS VR and others and got unbearable dislikes...

this is why I hate VR indies and 90% of their offerings. This is why I hate that the future of VR should be this crap rather than regular games with VR mode. we're really fracked.

Agreed, Psvr1 could end up having a great year anyway.
