Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart 15 min gameplay 4K

The graphics are incredible, and the city atmosphere was sublime, it made me day dream about what a Coruscant or ME Citadel could look like on next-gen. Tho as they moved into the areas with vegetations the weaknesses did become more apparent and wasn't as flawless as the city, particularly the water look bad, sorta like how it looks in general rasterised, guess they couldn't afford the budget to RT reflection it as well (without RT it simply doesn't connect properly with the land, see example in CP below at the start). Transitions for lods were also more obvious as well as some other things, but that's fair - areas with vegetation are still system killers and much harder of a problem to solve in general, even for offline rendering it's difficult.

Graphics aside it gave me the same feeling as the previous R&C when I had my PS4+ and that's... it had a soporific effect. For whatever reason I get sleepy with these games and mostly find them boring. Not very exciting gameplay shown and for me it runs into the same problem Gears does for a lot of people - it just feels like more of the same, and that same is something from too long ago and which feels stale. Not hating on it, it's just not for me. Happy for people who do like it tho because it looks incredible & the atmosphere is great.

No Silksong? = Delivering the pain.
Holy shit that looks amazing. When you just casually walk through the rift into another world... wow. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game.

Do you play as both male and female or do you pick one?
It switches back and forth between them during the course of the story, similar to A Crack in Time. Short answer: both.

Looks so good no one cares its 30 fps. 🤭
It looks really smooth for 30 fps though. I'm generally in the 60 FPS is better always camp, but this doesn't look all stuttery like a lot of 30 fps games seem to. Insomniac is really incredible with their animation....

Now I have two reasons to get a PS5 (this and Demons Soul), just need one more big game and some freaking PS5 availability and it will be time to retire the PS4 Pro......

Okay, single greatest looking videogame ever made. This game is a next gen statement! I just watched it on my 65 inch CX OLED. People do NOT yet understand how good this game looks. If you haven't watched it on a large screen OLED, and are just watching from your phone or from the PC monitor, you do not realize how good this game truly looks. Holy fucking shit.

It’s cool from a technical perspective but it still looks boring to me. That stuff flying overhead isn’t part of the game.. that platform you are on and the other straight and linear platform on the other side are.

You literally jump off the edge and float towards something not so linear. These things are really explorable. You may not be able to go to every single flying ship in the distance, but who cares? You can still explore major sections of the environments. They've clearly added a more in depth open world element to these games now and they are showing that off here. I'm very impressed. This is truly next gen stuff.

Graphics overall look good with good animations, but some aspects don't look that good. I mean, the water, some of the textures -some pop-in during the gameplay- and the green monster with tentacles to name a few things are not precisely at Pixar level. And obviously physics and lightning are not even in the same universe as a modern Pixar movie.

Gameplay/story wise looks pretty boring.

Haven’t watched this yet… Don’t want to because I’m determined not to pay $70 for anything, and I’m worried I’ll crack… But I do love some R&C…

Would be my first next gen game purchase if I do.

Yeah, my OLED is legit the best entertainent purchase ive ever made. Just takes everything to the next level. I shed a fucking tear playing TLOU 2 it looked so good.

I can agree with some of this. The ground in this section looks flat as hell to me. I feel like it should have more texture or reflections. just looks very flat.

overall still the best looking game i've seen though.

this shit makes me hard for god of war ragnarok

Shame it's crossgen though. Not that I wouldn't be happy with a current gen God Of War pumped to eleven with RT, 60 fps and so on because the graphics, the gameplay and the lore it's already really good stuff anyways, but seems we'll have to wait to two or three years in the future to see what this consoles are really capable of.

Ah, the sign of someone who hasn't played the games(or at least not the right ones).

Guess what, this gif below isn't a dead end(you get a jetpack in this game):

Most of the games in this series have fully explorable biomes and multiple paths to take.

Here's a map of gaspar(the gif above) for example(and this is zoomed out):

That's what makes them so impressive. It's been around since the PS2 days.

(And before you go using an example) I say most because yes, there are a few PS3 games that are as linear-pathed as you say, but the best ones usually don't do what you're talking about.

It's a flat painted sheet of dirty metal.

Receipts?

Jim Ryan not wanting to comment on it when directly asked pretty much confirms it. If it was a PS5 only game, they would be boasting about it.

It would be awesome if it turns out it's a PS5 only game since day one, but seeing how Sony still wants to milk the PS4 as much as possible and how Jim "we believe in generations" Ryan tries to elude the question, doesn't seem like it is.

Back from January, the guy isn't involved with the development and he doesn't have any insider knowledge on this. He's just guessing, with Returnal and R&C being PS5 exclusives, I still think God of War's a PS5 exclusive but would be a little disappointed if it ended up being cross-gen.

That's not confirmation of anything. Where is the official confirmation?
