God of War Ragnarok and GT7 are now cross gen as per Sony execs. And Horizon 2 is too. And you never know, more may be announced too as it's obvious Sony is going for a cross gen vibe for the next couple years.

From there, who knows when they will commit to PS5 only games. Bur fair to say they probably will at some point (cut the cord).

Are you still going to try buying a hard to find PS5?

edit - Even without the true next-gen games, if someone didn't have one yet I'd still say pick one up if you haven't played all the PS4 exlusives yet and/or don't have a PC, since they mostly run way better on PS5.

In fact if you don't have a PC get an Xbox too! Their 3rd party support, VRR tech, BC and emulation, et al is amazing!:




I don't have time to add Xbox and PS logos on top of the boys faces, but you get the point.

I mean.. Jesus. First after the masterpiece that was the original god of war who wouldn’t want to play the definitive version of the next one day one. Secondly ps5 already has a robust line up of next gen only titles. I have a somewhat hard time imagining the PlayStation gamer not interested in demons souls, ratchet and clank, Astro bots, returnal, or Kena. Finally, there’s about a 0% chance Sony doesn’t have some surprises left for this year that are next gen only.

What’s the alternative anyway? Wait a year, pay the same 500 for the ps5 anyway since it sure as hell won’t be discounted, meanwhile all the games you’ve bought ran significantly worse when you played them?

Between this cross-gen news and the lack of PS5s in stock, I'm less eager to get one now for sure.

Between the stock issue, the game which are taking time to come and everything going multiplatform, I’ll wait to try to understand what this generation will look like.

I decided to get a series x because of game pass and I didn’t have an Xbox one, so there are tons of new-to-me games to play. I’ll get a ps5 next year or so.

That's the point. Before, many believed that with a PS5 they'd get more than just "best performance and fidelity". That's what people are getting with Ratchet & Clank, but not Horizon and GOW.
Now, it's becoming more clear that, yes, PS5 simply means better performance and fidelity, in most cases. That changes the game. Thus the poll.

Personally, I was planning on picking up PS5 with God of War, and then finally getting a chance to play Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, and Ratchet.
Well, now I'm fine waiting even longer. There are games I want to play, but I'm waiting for one next-gen game that I am dying to play before buying, So it looks like that just got delayed.

Nope.

The only thing that I cared about PS5 was GT7. Now I don't have anything going for it. A multiplataform game to me is the best thing that Sony can do. If the wish, they can even release it for PC. And to me it could be even better.

I'm just gonna wait for the inevitable PS5 Slim or Pro model in 2023. Until then, I'm perfectly happy with my PS4 Pro.

They need to just sell the damn things in stores. I personally have one, but I hate the fact that people are having a hard time getting one. Selling all online with no protection against bots was the most boneheaded decision Sony could have made.

cross gen stuff doesn’t bug me, having the best version of a game is enough. Kinda reason why I get most stuff on PC now and Xbox one X before that. Hopefully the PS5 will be easier to get next year when these games start to hit.

I love all the over reacting, and we've seen hardly any footage for GOW, GT7. We saw Horizon and it looks amazing and we have yet to see how much of the world gets loaded when on a flying mount which is a thing.

It's one thing if they were showing these running on PS4, but they are showing these on PS5.
Also these titles started development before final skd's or hardware was given to developers. WHy throw away all that work, to start the project over and have nothing for years?

Let's wait and see if people's vision is compromised from games that asset wise, engine wise started on PS4.
If we didn't have games like Demons Souls and ratchet I would argue this kind of thread and sentiment is totally warranted.

But we have seen what developers are doing with the system when they design around it.
We know most if not all new titles from Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Bend, WILL be PS5 only. It;s just some of these titles started back when all developers had to start the project was PS4 devkits and maybe rough PC kits for PS5 development.
No one lied, just people are complete morons and have no fucking clue on how games are developed.

Is their marketing misleading, or should have been more clear : Yes
Did they lie and not have PS5 only developed games? : No.
Let me ask one more, do you think Herman and Jimbo would give Q/A interviews on state of PS5 if they didn't have PS5 only titles in development?
Let alone talk about certain things that would contradict their PR narrative?

If we're assuming that's bad news from Sony, doesn't mean the rest are doing great/better.

I already have one, And I have been playing on it all the latest releases on PS5. Games are running better on PS5 than on PS4 Pro, Dual sense, Pulse 3D and fast loads are all awesome features well worth it. I would not play Returnal with old and slow HDD on PS4 PRO. You are right back in the action in a blink. I would be pissed if we usually got half assed games as seen on other first party games offerings. But the upcoming games that are crossgen are awesome games made by technical powerhouses. So i guess all people that currently does not have a PS5 can still get the chance to enjoy those games without all the bell and whistles present on the PS5 versions. It's a huge user base that cannot be left behind completely due to this is a fucking business that needs to make as much money as they can. That is how they invest on multimillion dollar games.

When is the next big time franchise ps5 exclusive coming out outside of Ratchet and Clank? I am going to be very upset if Spiderman 2 is cross gen for example.

Haven't you heard that xbox game pass is the sweetest deal in gaming, you can play old ass games for "FREE" in that way that purchase is 100% justified. MS is the most pro consumer and inclusive platform and Phil Spencer a.k.a. "games are coming" and "wait another 5 years" is the new messiah of all gamers on earth. We are fools if we do not support MS console and their services that just by subscribing to them we are better gamers.

Imagine making a thread asking are you gonna buy an Xbox series X when there are literally no exclusives? That'll be an instant close/ban.

I mean, it's not like the very first Xbox first party games are coming to Xbox, they're both PS5 exclusives as well. :lollipop_tears_of_joy:
