Those trailers were underwhelming, and some were just badly cut together... so much so that I would speculate the actual game is better than the trailers appear. No excuse for such a big publisher.

The trailers I watched were so bad, easily SE worst show ever, as the games showed were mostly bad, low effort and stuff. Seems like they are having some massive trouble inside. Anyway, guess Sony will be showing FF16 and Forspoken.

Too much gameplay, I would say. It overstayed its welcome and dragged on for too long.
Would’ve been fine if they call it a Marvel showcase, but this is Square Enix, and people are expecting some Final Fantasy shit, only to see all the games they wanted to see get reduced to a 5 second mobile game ad, spread in between long ass segments of games from their western subsidiary studios that we, let’s be honest here, don’t really care about.
Also, the content they bring on their own didn’t really match up to those studios either. If you put that Final Fantasy Origins spinoff and Outriders side by side, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, just another hack n’ slash melee game, with a white haired protagonist with a big sword. It’s a same conference of FUCKING NOTHING just like last year.
I know conferences are basically ad spot, but come on, have some showmanship, put some effort in it. But then again, they probably realized most of the people who buy their product don’t give a crap about this sort of thing.
I hope next year’s E3 puts a “Show” back in Showcases...

The games looked bad, they put out a demo that was broken for the entire world lol, and even the Final Fantasy Origins portion of the square site was filled with 404 errors earlier lol(They fixed it in the past 30 minutes). It just looked tone deaf, and the non-marvel stuff all looked a bit too early to be showing off
Hell I commend them for trying to get a demo up for that game, but honestly it looks like it needs another year of development before the public gets to see it.
And the Life is Strange Remaster is releasing on the same consoles the game launched on...and they're charging people who already have the game for a whole new game as opposed to a patch? That just feels cheap

Square Enix is on a roll right now with The World Ends With You 2, FFVII Remake PS5, two action games from Platinum and Team Ninja, Nier remastered, FFXVI, that new ip for next gen/PS5, tactics Switch game, Guardians of the Galaxy (at least looks better than Avengers.)
pretty solid lineup imo, only lacks a Kingdom Hearts game

This wasn't their actual show, they held everything back for whatever Sony has planned to the detriment of their own show. This was a disaster. The only thing im even remotely interested in is the pixel updated final fantasy games. That mad man origins game is the most cringe thing I've seen in ages. The life is strange game just doesn't fit my gaming taste and guardians looked too early to be shown. Hopefully forspoken, end walkers and ffxvi can bring some excitement back for SE.

GotG looks like some mediocre movie tie in game from the early 2010's
Babylons Fall looks like the worst platinum game since Ninja Turtles
FF Origins was probably the best one since the combat was decent, but it was let down by horribly uninspired art direction, some of the worst character designs of recent times, Ps3 era graphics and hilariously bad dialog-

I mean, i'm not holding it to the avengers disaster standard, but from the trailer i really think that the gameplay and tone of the game it's pretty spot on to what i would expect for it. Voice actors could be better, but i think they sound good enough, there are far worse ones in most high profile ones like Tomb Raider or Far Cry, the combat here it's looking pretty over the top and fun unlike the Avengers and shit like that.

Well square enix has been creatively bankrupt since they merged. The only thing even remotely carrying them at times was past successes, and companies which weren't SE like an occasional triace game or cavia. And honestly final fantasy was pretty generic to begin with, even the snes games. There just wasn't that much competition at the time. They can only ride so long on the same boring looking soulless doll faced 3d renders before people want something else. Matsuno was weak and SE destroyed him, Yoko Taro is a troll and even though nier is popular now I'm sure he'd rather blaze out rather than end up like Matsuno. Honestly I don't even see where this company can go at this point, a lot of the terrible things we have in the videogame industry is -because of- this company.

- Avengers, well it needs something to bring me back in bad, I have over 100 hours on it, but I quit before Kate Bishop was out, Hawkeye wasn't bring me back but the Black Panther stuff looks good, I may check it out

GoTG looked somewhat fun, if a bit chaotic during the battles, and the enemies were not exactly interesting.
Black Panther in Avengers also seemed fun.

Awful trailers, to be sure, but honestly a huge amount of the problem was the god-awful dub and audio mixing. If nothing else its a tremendous demonstration of how impacting sound design is in terms of overall impression.
Beyond that, GotG seemed genuinely good to me. And it was a breath of fresh air to actual see what looked like the opening 15 mins of the game.
Also, was somewhat amused by people being shitty about Platinum offering a GaaS title after MS announced Halo Infinite's MP as being full-on f2p.
