That’s exactly what I said….do I get a cookie? It was flipping obvious.

also, you don’t buy an entire studio to port pc games, and then not port the majority of your games. The flood gates will open soon….
double also, I own a ps5 and will buy sonys games again on my steam account…you clever little beggars!

Not really surprised. Nixxes are the one's to get for PC ports. I really wonder how Square is gonna port their games now since Sony bought them.
Yeah that’s the downside. Cool that more Sony 1st party games will come to PC (and Steam Deck!) but I fear that the next Tomb Raider won’t be as awesome as previous games on PC. Unless Sony buy Square-Enix.

I’d definitely be up for a Sony PC store with trophy integration/cross platform progression etc.

And this info was surely obvious, the only question is to what extent do they want their library on PC - will we see PS1/PS2/PS3 Sony games ported over?
You trust Sony to make a competent PC storefront? This is the same Sony that will do everything in their power to not give people refunds, consistently has awful customer service, and couldn't figure out how to make PSN ID change option available to people for over a decade.

Trophy integration & friends list is mostly why I want to see an official client. Otherwise, they should work closely with GOG to utilize Galaxy client.
Back in the PS1/PS2 days, Sony was heavily focused on third party (most of the games associated with Sony around that time are third party games so Sony might not have much of an option for putting PS1/PS2 games on the PC (minus their first party ofcourse.)

Mckmaster uses MasterCard to buy Slave drives
This was obvious. I do wonder how much they'll also help internal teams finish their PS5 games also.

This is good because this frees up Sony studios and they won't have to worry about porting shit while trying to deliver games on time..

Guerrilla already wasted months trying to fix the mess that was the horizon pc port and who knows if that is the reason why horizon might not make 2021.

I’m really not bothered about any of that because I only buy games that I know are quality, and my PSN ID is fantastic.

The only thing that could persuade me to play a Sony game on PC over a PlayStation would be trophy support - it’s the only achievement system I am invested in.

Well....they agreed to give refunds on Steam so why not their own store? As for the rest....you are just being a Salty Popsicle.

I wish there was a universal trophy/achievement system among ALL platforms. But only if it follows the PlayStation style with Platinums. I have zero motivation for Xbox achievements because of how they're set up.
There are all ready so many clients on PC, I feel like most people are at a point where they have chosen the one or two clients to buy their games from and that's that.

I hope they are working on a Playstation client on the PC (while still putting their games on GOG/Steam etc.)
Why? Sony is so backwards it would be terrible. Steams already great, and it's where we all are on PC.

I'd like them to skip Steam entirely. Screw giving Valve 30% for any of their first-party games.
....Sony also asks for 30% of sales on their platform.

I can't buy any Sony products now due to their support for terrorism, but if I were to I'd only buy from steam. I'm not alone in this.

Not being on steam means your game is going to get pirated for a lot of people...

Steam handles the refunds themselves. Sony has no choice.

My point is that did not deter Sony from putting their games on Steam or on PC. Obviously they were willing to change their policy for PC.

I can't buy any Sony products now due to their support for terrorism, but if I were to I'd only buy from steam. I'm not alone in this.

Support for terrorism? What?

Mainly for trophy support and a more connected experience with your friends list showing there. I didn't say they shouldn't put it on Steam or other store fronts. I mentioned I'd like their games on GOG.
And support for terrorism? What in the world?

Everyone on PC just uses discord.

Soon everyone on PS will too.

Because they are making their productos in China?

I've seen some claims that the recent wave of cyberattacks came from China.

But to be honest I'm not really sure how you came to that conclusion.

- Sony buys a Studio which specializes in PC ports.

- Confirms they bought a studio which specializes in PC ports for PC ports.

I haven't had any issues with requesting a refund (but I also haven't had to do it often.) Ignoring PC, Sony's stated refund policy is the same as Microsoft's. We just have to go through a bot vs a web page so I can't see why on the PC their stated refund policy won't match Steam or other PC storefronts. They should certainly update it across the board to be more flexible (given it is all digital; they should be able to manage activations) but this topic isn't about their return policy. They shouldn't force it on people though (their own storefront).

Everyone on PC just uses discord.

Soon everyone on PS will too.
And I fail to see why that means we shouldn't get a PlayStation client? There can be both.

Are we required to login to Xbox Live and/or Uplay? I guess I'd have to try and see how that is, but wouldn't like that. I mostly stick with GOG. I do have games on Steam (due to humble bundle.)

It was obvious, yet you had some people out there that didn't want to believe it. Like on the day of the Nixxes announcement, Hermen Hulst was like "they helped us with Killzone SF on PS4".

Like this buy isn't 99% about PC porting :messenger_tears_of_joy: . Then comes the news today from Jim: "Yeah, we bought them to do PC ports" lol

PlayStation and Nintendo exclusives are of a high enough demand they don't need to conform to Valve. PC players would happily use other clients to play these games.
I mean, yeah, of course they are. On the other hand, PC players have shown themselves incredibly averse to abandoning Steam or even installing other launchers/storefronts.

I still think Sony and Nintendo should be investing in building out their own hardware-agnostic clients and storefronts--if only for the sake of future proofing their businesses--and many PC gamers wouldn't mind installing a new launcher for (legal) access to those game libraries. Still, if they want money NOW, and if they want to reach a much larger audience, there's no arguing that Steam is the way to go, 30% cut or no.

This should've been obvious given Nixxes' pedigree, but nice to see confirmed regardless, officially.

Now get them to help port Dreams to PC, the game deserves more of an audience. The true creatives are on PC anyway ;) :pie_smirking:
