This is good because this frees up Sony studios and they won't have to worry about porting shit while trying to deliver games on time..

Guerrilla already wasted months trying to fix the mess that was the horizon pc port and who knows if that is the reason why horizon might not make 2021.
Guerrilla? From what I knew only external studio worked on pc ports ...

There are all ready so many clients on PC, I feel like most people are at a point where they have chosen the one or two clients to buy their games from and that's that.
I'm mostly launcher agnostic, so I'll just use the platform that tends to have the best deal at the time. If all else is equal, I'll generally choose to get it on Steam. The people who are loyal to Steam or some other particular launcher are no better than console people, in my opinion.

Because they are making their productos in China?
Hate to break it to ya, man, but everything is made in China. So is the keyboard you used to type that.

Yeah, that is a fair point. How many launchers do we need?
There has to be a way they can bring over trophy support and friends list etc without a full launcher. Perhaps an optional app you can install on your PC that just handles those.

I imagine they could work with valve and map achievements to trophies. Not sure how friends would work though.

Playstation is cooked.

Steam deck is only the beginning. In a year or two valve will release an steam dock(console) that will play almost all sony games, all xbox games and all pc games with better graphics and a reasonable price.

Are we required to login to Xbox Live and/or Uplay? I guess I'd have to try and see how that is, but wouldn't like that. I mostly stick with GOG. I do have games on Steam (due to humble bundle.)
i launched master chief collection 5 minutes ago so i can confirm for it
judging from steam page with all ms studios games it's not true for all of them but :

it seems all first party games after 2018 are there.

Investing more in PC and mobile games than growing their own platforms.... PlayStation is now run by a pack of fucking idiots who deserve no respect and have no real strategy or vision for the brand.

Jim Ryan just wants short term profits and is more than willing to sell out the brand and piss away their strongest USP for a few million euro instead of playing the long game and attain true greatness.

PC is NOT a Sony platform, it is a competing platform, heavily aligned with Microsoft, that heavily benefits Microsoft..... Sony doesn't even make Vaio anymore.

This has to be the most moronic thing Jim 'the clown' Ryan and Herman 'Sideshow' Hulst are doing right now.

Its crazy how stupid they are.

When the steam console class hardware arrives, its going to be a bloodbath.

Its going to be betamax vs vhs.

I for one would welcome a PSN pc client with open arms. Day and date simultaneous releases would be awesome.

I want my Bloodborne port.

I know the games are there. I meant if they require us to login to XBL or not. But I think you're saying not for all of them, then I wonder how it keeps track of achievements and other things?

Some will, some wont. Never question the loyalty of many PC users when it comes to Steam.
Just look at how many 'Epic Exclusives' go straight to number one on Steam when Epics moneyhat deal ends.

Exactly. That is also why we see Xbox games consistently in the top sellers list on Steam despite being available through Game Pass for PC. For a lot of PC gamers, it is Steam or nothing.

You think that PC players won't download Epic Games Launcher in order to play Bloodborne and will just hope for a Steam version?
I think they would just pirate it and say fuck you to everyone involved. Or that and just wait for it to come to steam.

People act like the sales released from epic aren't pathetic.

Man the number of pages where people argued that "NO! this is to help them in their engine technologies and ship their games on PS5!"

Those were the minority. Most folks knew right off the bat this mainly about PC ports.

I’d definitely be up for a Sony PC store with trophy integration/cross platform progression etc.

And this info was surely obvious, the only question is to what extent do they want their library on PC - will we see PS1/PS2/PS3 Sony games ported over?
If they support cross buy from their online store it would be awesome. But unfortunately I can't see it happening.

Now with both Xbox and Playstation on PC it really does make PC the ultimate gaming platform (if you didn't consider it already).

Valves Steam Deck with Proton was a great move by them and perfectly timed.

Money is money. This just shows that eventually PS Now will be on Xbox and Game Pass on PS. There's no point not to. Each has a large number of entrenched fans. You are leaving money on the table by not offering your games to everyone. It's like how Apple Music is available on Android. It makes no sense to limit your audience.

The odd one out is Nintendo. But I think they see the writing on the wall with their cloud gaming moves and mobile efforts. They want to reach all audiences as well.

Why does it matter? It's not like they'd pass the savings on to you.
If they skip Steam then the sales will be low. If the sales are low, then the narrative will be that PC players don't purchase Playstation games therefore, Sony HAS TO STOP PORTING GAMES FOR THOSE DIRTY PC GAMERS THAT WILL ENJOY THEM IN BETTER HARDWARE! FUCKING JIM RYAN RUINED EVERYTHING!

As I mentioned elsewhere, I hope they employ them to port games where teams no longer exist or are currently busy with something else.
There's lot of PS3 era titles that deserve PC & PS4/5 remasters.

This is a great move for Sony now they can fulfill their dreams and truly compete with Microsoft in the Western Marketplace. Hopefully they can create an direct competitor to Gamepass next.
Nintendo is the only console manufacturer that is not putting their games on PC they're putting all of their heart, sweat, tears and hard work into their own console. I also have a PC so I will very easily be able to play games by the other two console manufacturers through my PC too. Nintendo is the only console manufacturer that is not selling out to the PC market, they have too much honor and love for their own ecosystem.

I'd like them to skip Steam entirely. Screw giving Valve 30% for any of their first-party games.
But why can't they offer it on Steam AND their own choice or choice(s)? Why do people like to limit options for the consumers? It's really... weird. And why do you care about a BILLION dollar company giving Steam money? Do you get a piece of the pie or something? (Genuine question)

Not surprised whatsoever as that's why Sony acquired them so they can start catching up to eventually have their exclusives day and date on PC.

No reason they can't do both, MS has their store and steam releases which support Xbox achievements.

I'm sorry I should have said "legally".

Nonetheless I am very happy that sony is putting their games on the PC now. It's a wonderful business decision by them and like I said I truly hope they come out with a gamepass competitor at some point soon so that they will truly compete with Microsoft in the Western Market while Nintendo focus more on the console Market as well as the Eastern Markets. In that scenario I feel like everyone wins. Nintendo, Microsoft and sony wins.
