Sony has upgraded games that came out years ago for free too. This is an illogical comparison.Even less incentive to go back and upgrade it for free.

It's dependent on the game. There is no PS5 patch or definitive edition of Zero Dawn. You just play it through BC.These threads are confusing me.
I still do not have a PS5.
If I get Horizon zero Dawn forbidden west on the PS4 pro. Then get a Ps5 later. What happens? Does it automatically become the ps5 version? Do I pay 10 bucks to make it a ps5 version? Do I rebuy the entire game at 70 dollars?
Sony what are you doing?
LoL at sony defense force.. this is a forum, people talk, he doesn't want you to do anything, he wants to talk about the subject, If you're not interested, hide the thread
The Death Stranding upgrade is much more reasonable too.I don't care that Sony charged, but I do care that they charged so much. Should've been $40 for the stand alone PS5 version and $20 for the upgrade from PS4.
Not enough, one can argue.Sony has upgraded games that came out years ago for free too. This is an illogical comparison.
Here's the simple truth :
...
What Hellblade released today for their enhancements
Ray tracing on both Series X & S
- Up to 4K resolution
- Up to 120hz
- Updated materials, particles and details
- Chapter select
What GOT is offereing for the ps4 > ps5 upgrades
Again, charging for the expansion is fine, but this is the 2nd time in two month the competition is offering a more robust technical upgrade for free while us PS5 owners are being charged for what should be free. Having to pay for 4k 60 is the most disappointing part as that is becoming standard now in the industry. I know most ps5 owners won't put pressure on Sony, but this should continued to be pointed out in comparisons every chance they get.
- Japanese lip-sync
- Duelsense Support functionality
- Reduced load times
- 3D audio
- Dynamic 4K 60 FPS
Yeah same, I'll wait til the physical PS5 version hits 20.The Death Stranding upgrade is much more reasonable too.
I'm not buying the GoT upgrade nor the DLC until there's a sale.
They're entirely separate things.....What Hellblade released today for their enhancements

It really isn’t confusing. These threads are confusing me.

It's more confusing than it has to be when the competition does it all for you in the background...heres how to upgrade DOOM...It really isn’t confusing.
I own a PS5. I buy the PS5 version. Most PS4 games upgraded for PS5 have been free upgrades. Sony have been very clear about which upcoming upgrades will require a payment. There aren’t many.
Yeah no. There is plenty to play on Xbox.Microsoft’s output has been extremely dry.
I loved everything although I agree with the combat part. Game got a little repetitive doing all the side objectives. But its also rare for me to go after all the side objectives, unless I really enjoy the game.
Hence why I definitely wouldn't buy for $70 or even the $30 upgrade. I already did everything and that was enough. Im only interested in the expansion. I've seen people chalk it up to being a "Japanese assassins creed" and its a fair assessment imo.
I mean sure but what are people even clamoring for? The only one I would want is horizon tbh. TLOU II was patched to 60, same with Ghosts and Ratchet 1 Remake. Not enough, one can argue.
Smart delivery delivers, a lot of people criticized it when the feature was announcedIt's more confusing than it has to be when the competition does it all for you in the background...heres how to upgrade DOOM...
On Xbox
- Open the PlayStation Store on your console.
- Search for “Doom Eternal Campaign - PS5 Upgrade.” (It should pop up as the first entry after you punch in “Doom Ete.”) Download that.
- Go to your game library.
- Find Doom Eternal, then click on the three-dot menu. Select “PS5 | Doom Eternal.” If you try to do this before downloading the “Doom Eternal Campaign - PS5 Upgrade” file, you won’t see the option.
Launch doom eternal...By having different tiers Sony makes it tough to just put the disc in and play, you have to do work to get the proper version working and making sure you have the proper upgrades. It's not hard persay but still a bad system.
How are game length/size related to improved framerate, resolution and load times on better hardware? they aren'tI wouldn't compare a corridor walking sim with a huge open world game
if you know anything about game development, you wouldn't ask that question, the amount of assets and data that needs to be altered(improved) in a super linear super small game like Hellblade is a joke compared to all the systems and subsystems and layers of content in a huge open world game, the slightest change and everything breaks, especially considering Hellblade is using an stock multiplatform engine like Unreal and Tsushima has a custom in house console focused engineHow are game length/size related to improved framerate, resolution and load times on better hardware? they aren't

It’s a big deal over nothing. There are far more complicated things in life, such as the human mind and its ability to make a relatively simple process sound complicated. It's more confusing than it has to be when the competition does it all for you in the background...heres how to upgrade DOOM...

Ghosts of Tsushima is getting a native ps5 port called directors cut which is the game + the DLC for the Iki island for $70.
If you have the PS4 version you can get the ps5 version without the dlc for +$10. That's just the 4k and the Japanese sync and the dualsense stuff. You can buy the dlc for BC for +$20 without the ps5 enhancements. Or you can bundle it all for +$30.
Put like this, no wonder I gave it up. I gave up ac origins, oddyssey and valhalla halfway through, did the same with GOT.
I need to stop buying open world historical games i guess lol
Literally zero assets need to be altered, since it's running on better hardware.if you know anything about game development, you wouldn't ask that question, the amount of assets and data that needs to be altered(improved)
We are talking about better hardware, not doing something more intensive on the same hardware; you think I couldn't go back and run AC Unity on 2021 hardware with much higher framerates/resolution/faster loading than 2014 hardware? C'mon son.Open world games are notoriously buggy. I don't know why but probably due to the sheer number of systems in place already. I don't think I would dismiss that so easily.

What the hell are you talking about?Right.....cuz hardware automatically fixes complex systems in open worlds?
please stop, you have no idea what you're talking about, for optimization/performance improvement, several assets use prerendered lighting/shadows etc., if you change the lighting systems, reflections, higher quality assets etc., everything needs to be redone and repackaged, that means new optimization, new quality assurance and so on, and this is hard enough in a small corridor walking sim game, but in an open world game it is a nightmare with all the streaming/LOD systemsLiterally zero assets need to be altered, since it's running on better hardware.
You are literally talking about something else that I am.for optimization/performance improvement, several assets use prerendered lighting/shadows etc.,
did you even read the original post? You are literally talking about something else that I am.
Stop being a clown and reread what I said, or don't bother responding to me.
ITT a party of 2 is everybodybecause nobody here knows, everybody is clowning you
that's the only thing you're going to respond to? completely ignore the massive exposure of you not know wtf you're talking about?ITT a party of 2 is everybody
The what lol? I'm starting to suspect your grasp on the English language isn't the best.completely ignore the massive exposure
