Yeah, I mean Xbox = MS. But it's still only one department of many and so has a limited budget.Xbox gets money from MS
They had a case for it. They wanted to counter Uncharted, and they didn't have any big game in 2015 so they got Tomb Raider. Though Sony delayed Uncharted 4 to 2016 (lol), and TR didn't work well for Xbox either.MS got silly money to just give away.
A total waste of money, which could easy go to 1st party Studios to make better games, no further worlds. Now, how much they are paying for getting games on GamePass, makes you think...
100m for fucking nothing, nice job there.
Did something happen in Shadow? I'm currently making my way through rise. For a Feminist game?
They (MS) could have used the money to make a new IP that they own but that's in the past.
That makes sense, i guess the TR deal was something similar.$80m out of those $115m were a guaranteed minimum. It technically didn't cost Epic anything because it worked out for them. So the actual cost was $35m.
At least ff16 is a bigger franchise that will pay of. Like ffvii. Don’t compare those to tomb raiderAt the time they had no exclusives and Tomb raider brand was larger than it is now. Still over paid but not shocking. Imagine hoe much Sony is paying for FF16...these things aren't cheap.
It's hard to know.AAA games cost a shitload of money to make and are very risky. As much as I wish every game would be available on every platform, there are probably lots of games/studios that wouldn’t exist if not for deals like this.
Kinda like complaining that prescription drug manufacturers make a profit off of human suffering. It takes a shitload of R&D to bring a new drug to market… your COVID vaccine would never have gotten made if not for a huge profit incentive to create it.
Tomb Raider is a a feminist game? Would they not want to censor Lara’s fine ass in tight pants? For a Feminist game?
100m nothing for MS.
Game was good but dont think it was worth keeping exclusive for 100m
It's not open for interpretation. It explicitly says the deal was for Tomb Raider. You just need to read it, you don't have to take it on faith, and it's not a matter of opinion. It is simply what it says.I still think you guys are just inferring something the sentence doesn't mean (albeit poorly worded.)
He's saying he negotiated $100 million in deals, which includes the TR / Xbox deal.
IMO
Why do people keep saying this? it's never good to just lose $100 million for any company. I don't care if it's MS, Apple, Google, or Amazon.
$100M just to keep the game away from PS gamers. Not to create anything new, not to give Xbox players something unique. Only to take something away from everyone else.
He says "deals".. it is absolutely not clear which subject of the sentence "worth $100 million" is referring to.. the initial subject is "deals" however... he's missing some commas either way, it is not a grammatically correct sentence so it definitely is up for interpretation. It's not open for interpretation. The other side do it to, remember the thread at the start of this gen where Sony had approached all third party’s with offers for exclusive games,. Its not just one side doing it

You must have missed Final Fantasy 7 remake blocked on Xbox or all the Destiny 2 exclusive guns and strikes. Street Fighter 5 says hi. The Bethesda purchase did not stop the games from hitting PC, being streamed, and MS makes 2 consoles for people of different economic means. It's not the same at all.Sony has done it too, sure, but nothing quite to this degree that I can remember. And then we haven't even brought up MS buying an entire publisher for the same reason (their inability to build up/not destroy worthwhile internal studios).
Sony funded and saved SF5. They invested millions in the tournaments and the Capcom Cup prizes. Anyway, it's only a spoonful of their own soup after all the moneyhatting MS did during the 360 era. They're (Xbox) the ones who started the trend. You must have missed Final Fantasy 7 remake blocked on Xbox or all the Destiny 2 exclusive guns and strikes. Street Fighter 5 says hi. Then it's all good then. Sony blocks games on Xbox. MS blocks games on PlayStation. It's all business.Sony funded and saved SF5. They invested millions in the tournaments and the Capcom Cup prizes. Anyway, it's only a spoonful of their own soup after all the moneyhatting MS did during the 360 era. They're (Xbox) the ones who started the trend.
There are tons of Final Fantasy games on Xbox but for some reason FF7R is missing. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.Sony blocked FF7R from appearing anywhere else? Alright, didn't know that.
But you're right, that's not the same at all as buying an entire publisher to take away several of the most popular franchises in the world from the majority of all console gamers.
Last sentence of the second to last paragraph. I don't know what you're reading since that sentence doesn't even mention the word "deals" in plural. It's clear and plain as a sunny day. You're either reading the wrong thing or can't read English.
Then it's all good then. Sony blocks games on Xbox. MS blocks games on PlayStation. It's all business.

Name one game announced for PlayStation canceled by the Bethesda purchase. Just name one. Deathloop? Ghostwire Tokyo? The Bethesda purchase didn't affect Sony at all. Plus all Sony gamers have monster PC rigs to play any games that hit PC. You don't need an Xbox to play Xbox games.
Yeah, it's all good. All is fair in war and love or so the saying goes. I don't care about all that Bethesda garbage anyway, last game I played from them was 10 years ago, Skyrim, didn't buy it, borrowed it, pretty average and mediocre, and that's their greatest game...I think I"ll be fine. MS probably did PS gamers a huge favor, though it is to be expected all Bethesda IP will take a huge hit in sales and popularity since they won't release on a major platform. Then it's all good then. Street fighter 5? Buying insomniac who had made a game for Xbox, the wipeout studio from Liverpool? Sony have done exactly what you said they haventSony has done it too, sure, but nothing quite to this degree that I can remember. also they money hatted Tomb raider not to be on the Saturn back in the day
He edited it. I guess someone told him that bit of info wasn't really doing his former employers any favors.Anyone gone to his LinkedIn profile? None of that is there or I'm I missing something?
None of the games you mentioned were announced PlayStation titles. Previously released games are still getting supported. Deathloop for example WAS announced and guess what? It's still coming out! Again the Bethesda deal didn't affect Sony at all.No future TES, Fallout, Doom, Starfield, etc, will come to PlayStation. If MS hadn't bought them they would have, 100%. PlayStation gamers now don't get to play those games unless they pay for another console or a good PC, and a lot of people can't afford that (I can, but I prefer to focus my gaming to one or two systems, and I already have a Switch as well because I can't miss certain Nintendo games). But sure, didn't affect anything at all.
And what do you mean all Sony gamers have monster PCs? Lol. I can assure you the vast majority don't.
Exactly Bethesda starting sucking as soon as MS purchased them! Makes perfect sense.Yeah, it's all good. All is fair in war and love or so the saying goes. Why you people have to cry like a bitch and put words I didn't say? If that's what you take of me in my "humble opinion" thinking Bethesda is trash, then so be it, go on and cry about it. I could show you my PSN ID where you'll find exactly 1 Bethesda game I've played since 2012 (when I beat it): Skyrim. I also owned and beat Oblivion but I don't have trophies for that one since they didn't exist back then.None of the games you mentioned were announced PlayStation titles. Xbox gamers knew 100% the next Street Fighter was going to hit Xbox. Several titles hit Xbox in the past. Too bad for them they didn't get it. Even funnier it wasn't because Capcom was purchased by Sony.
Sony gamers nor Xbox gamers can be guaranteed to get a game. You have no proof those titles you mentioned would ever hit PlayStation and now we can be pretty sure they aren't. They can either play on the PCs most Sony gamers brag about when mentioning Xbox titles or they can simply buy an Xbox. MS makes 2 of them.
Exactly Bethesda starting sucking as soon as MS purchased them! Makes perfect sense.
I echoed your sentiments perfectly. Bethesda sucking just so happens to coincide with the MS purchase. Why would I cry about a Bethesda purchase? I've liked their games before MS bought them and I like their games today. No need for the bitterness or tough guy act.Why you people have to cry like a bitch and put words I didn't say?
