Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
$49 for a Genesis controller in 2021 and it's not even the six-button version. Complete ripoff but then again, this is Nintendo, it's part of their corporate culture to overcharge for things.

As long as enough lemmings continue to defend them for it out of nostalgia, no reason for them to stop.
I don't think that makes a difference, to be quite honest. As with any business, what matters is if people buy it. Not if they get defended or attacked by a minority.

From day one, people have been very vocal about NSO negatively. But a lot of people have voted with their wallets and bought the service. So it doesn't matter if it gets criticized or defended. It's gonna keep going for as long as people support it with their money.

As with all subscription services, value is a matter of perspective. For me, I think we’ll be able to fairly assess the value of this service in a year’s time, when it has some meaningful content. But damn, I really wish Nintendo would stop stubbornly ignoring the popularity of the achievements/trophies that their competitors provide, not to mention other features we now take for granted.

I saw this and thought, "finally Nintendo did something even the hardcore Nintendo posters won't try to rationalize". I guess, I was wrong. I wonder if that line even exists.
People are still praising and are getting mad if you say something that is against their radical thinking

"Stay tuned for more details about membership benefits, pricing, and launch date."

Guys, just wait, we don't know everything yet.
Nintendo Online + + + coming soon. Will come with even more Classics. Next Remastered game exlusive to Nintendo Online + + + +.

Good. Suck them dry Nintendo. This might be a more effective way of recharging for digital classics every generation.

Welp, no reason to switch from regular emulation then. Maybe in 5 years Nintendo delivers a better service. Probably not.

Well, at least I get to stick with the basic plan.

Screw that price increase for a couple of N64 games.

There is something so nostalgic and weird at the same time, like an alternate universe seeing Genesis on a Nintendo platform.

I know, I know, they are now third party, but nostalgia wise... it looks wild.

Oof. That's expensive. Not a reason for me to upgrade my current sub since I don't really have any particular fondness or appreciation for N64 or Genesis titles. Missed those platforms back int he day.

Well, I've been watching the like/dislike ratio and it's been increasingly having more dislikes, to the point that in around an hour or before the trailer is gonna have more dislikes than likes... I hope this brings a message to Nintendo, if I'm paying the price at least I want a better value proposition since for most paying is not the issue... take a look yourselves:

I think the only way this sort of service is ever worth that price is if they had included GB, GB Colour, GBA and Game Cube games too. I’ll give them a pass on DS/3DS due to the touch screen.

They're probably acting on the results of a small survey from 2013 from people that ordered calendars off Nintendo Rewards and mailed in the tiny post-card survey that came with it.

They'll be reacting to the youtube like / dislike ratio in 2029. Just be patient, sir.

Not a lot of information in the OP.

So the $30 hike is ONLY to access N64 and Genesis games along with the DLC? We’ll still get access to NES/SNES games via the regular $20 subscription?

Wow… lmao. So if I have 3 years of online stacked, Nintendo would give me a gargantuan discount of £12 when converting that to 3 years of the expansion pass. £93 to upgrade, rather than £105 (that’s on top of the initial £54 for the regular online membership). Or would it be £27 off as it’s calculated by day?

If you already have a Nintendo Switch Online membership and purchase a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, you will receive a discount* determined by the number of remaining days** of your current membership. The discount is up to the price of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership at the below rates:

Changing from a Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership: £0.04 / day

Changing from a Nintendo Switch Online Family membership: £0.08 / day

For example, if you have 100 days remaining of your Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership, you can change to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Individual membership with a discount of £4.00 (100 x £0.04), reducing the price from £34.99 to £30.99.

It does send a message. It says half the people are happy/satiated with paying an extra $30.

Im ....disappointed ....yet not surprised. When this was announced I thought it was going to be added to the existing online, for free, when they said it was going for a premium I called bullshit, but then hoped that it would be just $10 extra....then I remembered this is nintendo, the master of full priced remaster... but god damn, $50 !! For old games and the shitiest online ?!? Get fucked lol.

Nothing quite like Nintendo games even the background music in Wii sports is great but you can’t suck money out of your fans pockets. Breath of the Wild 2 for me and that’s it.

Can we choose the N64 and Sega Genesis expansion alone and skip out on the NES and SNES or is it $50 and that’s the only deal now?

Once again, sub services save the day! Now just imagine if Nintendo had said we will flog these games off to you (N64) for $9.99 each. I'd have purchased whichever I like and not have to worry about continuously paying a fee each year to rent these games! Fuck, if I even decide I want to buy the N64 controller, how long will that last me?? How long until the big N decide to close this service down so that every cent you paid is lost to you forever and my N64 controller is just useless? Wake up people- this is the future you seem to want: sub services!!! They look great at the start and seem to give you value but it don't last long... keep paying these companies to rent their games. They're laughing all the way to the bank.

The more you charge, the more it's worth! It's how Nintendo ensures premium products.

This is just Nintendo man. There’s well over 1000 games that have been given away on Plus, Gold and included in PS Now and Game Pass. And every single one of them is still easily available to purchase on current gen consoles outside of the subscription model (PS3 and racing games aside, due to logistical/licensing issues, not greed).

I do agree that you’ve hit the nail on the head here re: Nintendo though. Subscribe for 10 years just to play a handful of SNES/N64 games and you’ve paid £350 and still don’t own shit at the end of it.

You should probably try to find a real-life girl before you embarass yourself further.

Pro-tip if you succeed. You don't actually try to force the balls in.
It was a joke post not to be taken seriously. But I will get serious with this post. With my illness having a conversation with a woman or anyone is impossible. I can barely talk. No words come to me. On here its easy to type but with my voice? sadly no. So that makes finding a relationship hard. Most women want a guy to talk to vocally. And it takes talking to get in a relationship.

I have dated many times before my illness, but since its been hard finding someone who will be with me regardless of my disabilities.

As any subscription, It's reasonable to expect new content. Are they adding games/consoles to the base service?

They will continue to do what they have done, release games every few months, randomly, when it pleases them. No new consoles, that is only if you pay for the extra service.

I can say what I want, it's not my fault you got mad that I'm selling my Switch because Nintendo sucks and their practices are pathetic and they should get criticized for it. To my ignore list you go, my list is growing by the minute

You aren't criticizing. You are throwing a temper tantrum. There is plenty to criticize here, but crying "NINTENDO SUCKS, FUCK YOU BUY SHIT FOR ME. YOU ARE GETTING BLOCKED" is not criticism. That is a man child losing their marbles. Seek help, kiddo.

Seems like you didn't read what I said.
No one is "forced" to trade in a PS4 and buy a $700 PS5. No one is "forced" to buy consoles from scalpers at inflated prices. But some people choose to, even though the value proposition is shit, because they're the only game in town and can dictate the price. This is why they get away with such greedy practices.
Nintendo's $20 online service is missing basic features that have been around for at least 15 years now on other consoles. This is why they tried to supplement the value with a handful of S/NES games and priced at $20, much lower than the competition.
At $50, they still don't offer anything close to the value you get from Gold or PS+, even though the price difference is now negligible.
I KNOW it's optional. I also know it's greedy, and I'd rather they offered a better value instead of a garbage one. Same goes for these "remasters."

And I would agree that Nintendo should do better and offer up more, especially when one of their competitors, Xbox, has a better subscription service.

However, you are conflating subjective opinions with facts as stated with the Zelda, GoW/TLOU example. If Nintendo was treating their customers like "lemmings", then they would have made this a mandatory upgrade. They didn't. Its optional. You don't have to buy it and you miss out on nothing. Nothing changes.

Some folks will consider the QoL upgrades in Skyward Sword to be worth the full price, others won't. Just as some thought the upgrades in GoW/TLOU1 were worth the purchase, others didn't. Not to mention that you are acting like this is a "new" thing when you state "Now they are 'remastering' Zelda games..." when they have been doing this over over 10 years at this point. This has nothing to do with "Nintendo fans being sheep" or "shills" or whatever dumbass, mentally stunted console warring tripe that keeps getting pushed around.

The reason why Nintendo stuff sells is because the casual audience thinks it is worth that price. You don't. Hell, *I* don't the vast majority of the time. Which is perfectly *fine*, but stop with the hyperbole console war-esque rhetoric already. It gets tiring and shits up all threads that involve Nintendo.

I’m usually in favor of subscription services but this is expensive as fuck for very little value. And that’s coming from someone who considers the N64 the absolute peak of gaming.

I must be the only one ok with the pricing. I think it’s probably $20 too much, but I won’t quibble over higher resolution N64 games and an authentic controller…which has already sold out.

What's the big deal about a controller? Especially one with a manufactured scarcity as Nintendo is apt to do. I've had a USB N64 controller for like 8 years. I have wireless SNES controllers. You don't need Nintendo to upcharge you to get these things
