Ep 4
Please tell me that the super annoying blue haired sister who killed fattso and mylo is not the fucking main protagonist...

Plan to watch this sometime but seeing the reception makes me wish Bungie hits it out of the park with Destiny media or Matter-mmo eventual shows and stuff. Bungie knows how to make shit.

SPOILERS BELOW
She's a protagonist. Not the main one. Both sisters share the role

If you don't like her you can stop watching now.

I love animations and artstyle and part of the story are cool (not very original or mindblowing like some people was saying here), but i can't stand this stupid bitch so i think that i'm gonna follow your advice.

Her face is literally on the netflix thumbnail. What do you think?
I never even focused on the thumbnail tbh, i just searched for arcane and clicked the only result, maybe because the first time i searched was on smartphone with a little screen and the other times you don't really see the thumbnail anymore but just a screenshot of the latest episode you are about to watch.

Also for the first 3 ep, the other sister was kinda the protagonist so that's why i was asking.

Complete opposite opinion. I bloody love Jinx and the work the writers did with her.

Can't stand her stupid sister, Jayce and pretty much every goody-two-shoes character.

I was rooting for Silco.

I can't stand both sisters, but pink one was just the usual modern stronk woman, blue chick is an insufferable crybaby who literally killed 2 of his friends by being a fucking idiot and i hate her behaviour

Just watched the last episode and it's amazing, can't wait for season 2.

Probably Top 5 Netflix show for me.

Really like Jinx and Silco.

Just googled and saw that Silco isn't a League character, guess he's probably dead for good then?

Shame.

Most likely. This is one of the show greates weaknesses: you perfectly know who has impenetrable plot armor.

Naturally, the League characters will not die and I just started and finished watching this in one day without much expectation and boy was I surprised. It was awesome. Even knowing the characters I still felt emotional which is very rare for me. The Viktor storyline was wow. Excited for new season.

I can see this having many seasons.

From the teaser of the second it seems to be focused on Vi confronting Jinx one last time.

Then I'm assuming season 3 will start a new arc with new characters in a different part of the world

An anthology type series set in different places with this godlike animation would be kino.

League of Legends is kinda on fire right now. They just released an RPG on switch (no idea if it's any good) and they have this awesome looking Project L fighting game in development

Tag, you're it.
So I watched the show because of all the good things I've read here and I have to say you were right, the show is really good (and it's produced here in France, cocorico)
It has a lot of very interesting stories (Silco on top) and as someone who don't care at all about LOL, I hope this universe will be more and more developed in the future.

Now the bad news, season 2 wont be coming in 2022:

Watching some of there trailers and honestly, with 100m views for there cinematic trailers each year, they are practically the new blizzard. But not shocked as they got 150m registered accounts. they are bigger then probably even steam at this point.

I don't think any of these trailers are made in-house, I believe Blizzard does theirs in-house. Some of the ones in the picture are done by Blur Studio who does the Assassisns Creed, Halo, Batman, and a bunch of other cinematics.

And, League of Legends has 200M+ registered accounts. with 180M active users last month.

I hate playing LoL but what they do with the brand is honestly amazing at times...

I just recently discovered Pentakill (an imaginary band) when they had the event for their third album just recently... and I had that album on repeat for weeks after that... partly because the band has Jorn Lande and Noora Louhimo as 2 of the singers... so I was sold pretty much immediately after hearing Jorn's voice

this is legit my favorite metal album of the year... and it's basically just a PR thing for a MOBA... that is crazy

too bad the main game is just so fucking annoying to play... I to this day don't get why people torture themselves with MOBA games :pie_roffles: and not even because I think they are bad, not at all... I can see the design behind these games and LoL is a very well designed game... but the base concept of MOBAs is just fucking torure to me

It took them 6 years? Wow. Well now with more netflix money I'm sure they can hire more staff as long as quality does not drop as its the case with season 2+ shows on Netflix.

LoL is insanely popular iN China which probably helps a lot, not to mention F2P.

LoL is obviously big, but it honestly doesn't feel like it to me I don't really see or hear about it a lot.

- Bombs exploding everywhere, one RIGHT ON THE FACE of Caitlyn, not a scratch. Everybody else - dead.

Dude I hate this so much, unless it's a comedy just why?
In RE3 remake it took me completely out of it when Nemesis shot a rocket next to Jill, and she just flew a bit and rolled on the ground then walked it off.

It makes explosive weapons feel so weak, why would you ever use explosives when they don't even kill even if they basically hit the character?
Just use a gun?

This was especially telling with Jinx herself on the bridge. Most of the characters in the show reacted very poorly to explosives, sans Cait lol. But I'm willing to give it a pass, she was pretty far away from that one blast.

Just finished episode 7. Really loving this show. Absolutely love the characters that are in it. The interactions of the characters in this show is so cool and robust feeling.

Still not a fan of Jinx. Maybe I can stomach her more now that there is more depth to her than appearing as some low rent Harley Quinn clone that gets the luxury of being an ADC. Hate fighting against Ekko in the game but he is probably my favorite character of the show at the moment. Caitlyn is whatever. Definitely find some of the stuff predictable despite knowing the end result of some of the characters like Jayce, Jinx, Viktor, and etc. They did Heimer so wrong(in the story, not the adaptation). Here is to hoping to see more yordles soon.

"Compression". Isn't photography wonderful?

But seriously, isn't a question of you being right or wrong about this, is more that what you're trying to argue here is meaningless. Those bombs are weak, it's necessary more than just one butterfly at her face to kill. Marcus didn't died because of that single one, but because of many others that hurt him.
But again, this is minor and irrelevant. The script is not perfect and have some weak points that are worthy complaining, but not these. Sky being "fridged" is one for example.
Others are arguable, like your complaint that Vi crossed the bridge with Cait instead of not staying with Jinx. It's annoying, and example of that trope that have two characters needed to meet to talk but keep missing each other until the end. However maybe not in this specific scene, because this action gives more credence to Jinx accusation that Vi would abandon her for Cait. Vi is looking for Power, not Jinx, so when she sees only Jinx there Vi turns her back to her like Silco said she would do. Next Vi even turns her back to the entire undercity going with enforcers to resolve the situation with more violence thinking that it would solve anything.

Fridging is one of the most stupid cricisms you can level at any story.
"Sky was there just to be killed and to give Viktor a motivation and to move his story forward"

Ok. And?

Uncle Ben's sole reason to exist is to die in order to give Spiderman the motivation to become a hero. I don't see people penning entire college theses on how that's bad and Stan Lee should burn in hell for doing it.

There's nothing wrong with using a character as a plot device. It's called storytelling. Nevermind that this "trope" was coined by Gail Simone, one of the worst writers in recent memory.

is there a date for S2? is it confirmed for 2022? or is it just whenever the heck they finish it?

They’ve announced Season 2 and said it won’t take 6 years like the first season and won’t be out in 2022.

Based on how long Maya and the Three took (3 years) to get about 4 hours of run time, I’d say they’re good for late 2023 as they would have already started on Season 2 and aren’t starting from scratch.

It's still RIGHT ON HER FACE and you're assuming *all* the other firelights were far from her.

Honestly, even if the explosions did hurt Caitlyn as much as it did Jinx, the story doesn't change much. Vi would still take the gem to the Council, she would still give her speech, and she would still go to Jayce to convince him to go after Silco. You could also work in the injured state of Caitlyn as motivation.
But everything after that would still be the same but with a more bandaged Caitlyn

You really don't get the point?
Sky was just a background character that in the last minutes was implied to have a life and a story with Viktor, but this was only implied to make her death hurt him more, and I argue that on a better script he didn't needed that. Viktor was more cool headed and "pure minded" than Jayce, instead of him waking up to the danger of the Hexcore and how obsessed he was getting and compromising his own ideals he was denied this and Sky was sacrificed.
It's classic fridging, it's not about just killing a character, is how the character is killed, in what context and for what narrative purpose.

He missed the point and like I commented, if you think, Cait had to be hurt there in some way to "force" Vi to make the decision to help her instead of staying with Jinx.
Again, this is an irrelevant detail, and insisting on this he is neglecting what really matters to the narrative in the scene.

You're neglecting the fact that, while not important for the general plot and on that we agree, it's still bad, lazy writing and abuse of overused tropes.

Yes. We don't need her own dedicated episode. She's not important to the story, only to Viktor.

but this was only implied to make her death hurt him more

Of course. And this is a problem... because?

Viktor was more cool headed and "pure minded" than Jayce, instead of him waking up to the danger of the Hexcore and how obsessed he was getting and compromising his own ideals he was denied this and Sky was sacrificed.

Given that the man is literally dying, I can understand him getting careless and killing Sky in the process.

She is a plot device. She's like Uncle Ben or Bruce's parents. Why is this suddenly a bad thing? Is it because she's a woman?

The animation in this is insane. Anyone watching?

I'm not a huge LoL nerd but this show has really grabbed me. Loving it, up to episode 4 currently.

The OST for this is pretty awesome, didn't realise the one and only Sting is performing on the final track used in the show.

One part of the story I didn't follow.. who made the exploding firefly things and why?

Jinx. In episode 4 you can see her tinkering with the robotic butterflies.

Not a LoL player and was not aware of the lore but the series is one of the best things Netflix has put out.

I went in blind aside from the trailer and was blown away from how well it hits in all departments. It’s like one of the best Blizzard cinematic trailers that goes on for 3.5 hours except not by Blizzard.

The painted style of CG really makes almost every shot look stunning.

Arcane and Maya and the Three are really showing how a limited series animation should be done versus junk like Masters of the Universe.

So based on the praise in this thread I ended up giving this show a shot, and damn I am very glad I did. My gf and I watched it over the course of the last 5 days and loved every minute of it. Neither of us know anything at all about league of legends, and the show was still amazing. Op is right, the show is indeed, most definitely, lit.
Waiting with baited breath for season 2.

Yes, she is something that people calls "a trope", sometimes knows as "fridging", glad you understand.

You're neglecting the fact that, while not important for the general plot and on that we agree, it's still bad, lazy writing and abuse of overused tropes.

Not by the reasons you're stating.
The trope and lazy writing here is the use of misunderstandings and lack of communication.
The problem that Jinx has with Vi is mostly caused by the misunderstanding that Vi wasn't just angry at the moment and had went away abandoning her. Then when Vi comes back there's a few opportunities when the two can talk but others prevent it from happening. At the end of episode 6, I guess you'll agree with me, why did Ekko's gang attacked Vi, Cait and Jinx? Couldn't he chose a better moment? Shouldn't he wait a bit more and hear what they had to talk with Jinx? If it was because he didn't trusted Vi tagging along with that enforcer wannabe why did he had to abduct the two away from Jinx? He could do that before and after their talk with Jinx. The biggest reason was to not let Vi and Jinx talk and keep the feud going.

Other thing that you could call "lazy" is how it's overall too focused on the "in moment" of all characters. Sky's death also suffers from this, but a bigger example is when Jayce meets with Silco and he talks about "the threats beyond these walls". I understand that the series wants to be friendly with people like me that knows nothing about the story universe, but it goes too far telling us nothing about the world around that city. Because of this Jayce's reminder comes with no weight, despite being a difference in concern between a person from the under city and piltover is something that could give move depth to this story. And I can even think on a simple solution for this particular omission. During that whole power struggle with Medarda's mother it was just necessary to add an additional line that if she went back to her kingdom with any sort of Hex Weapon than Piltover would be instantaneously fucked, everyone would put it's sights on Progress City and their threatening tech, to have it for them or to destroy it.
