Opinion: Redfall might be the next one to get delayed

Why? The game is supposed to come out this summer, thats in about 6-8 months. So far we've had no actual gameplay, no new trailers, no nothing. Besides the E3 2021 announcement cgi trailer.

The only release date we have is Summer 2022.

Its also based on UE5 which looks to have still missing features and bugs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Starfield releases before Redfall.

Just because it's using UE5 doesn't mean it's using all of its features, so the ones still missing might not even impact the game.

Otherwise it's a bit of a reach to think it'll get delayed just because STALKER 2 did. By that logic, Forespoken should be delayed because FF XVI got set back by six months, but last I heard it's still on track for a Spring launch.

Notased on his criterias about not having new trailer or info about the game since forspokken had a few quite recently. Not that I think op is right but I do think it would be time to start marketing the game especially since Stalker let a big open window.

How much info did we get about Forza Horizon 5 before the trailer at e3 and it's release that November?

Pretty much this.

Forza Motorsport is also supposed to be out this year and we saw one trailer in 2020 and nothing else.
I get where you're coming from but racing games really don't need much marketing far in advance. People know what Forza and Gran Turismo are. The playerbases are pretty well established at this point. Brand new IPs need a lot of marketing lead time by comparison. Racing games are fairly simple. You know what you're doing. Driving cars really fast. Redfall needs time to convince people to look into it. We need to get some story beats. We need to see some gameplay hooks. We need some more information about as many details as they can give us. And this information can take months to filter through the larger community. It is not something you want to announce, say nothing about it for a year, and then tell people it's releasing in 3 or 4 months. Especially when so many eyes are on Starfield. It's not just Stalker 2 being delayed. Both Deathloop and Ghostwire were delayed well outside their initial windows or targets. Microsoft doesn't often announce something in the first half of the year. They usually wait until E3 or slightly before to start rolling things out. That history is probably another reason why people are looking at "Summer 2022" for Redfall and thinking, "Yeah. Probably not at this point"

Forza is an annual/bi-annual franchise with minimal differences between entries. It isn't necessary to show it as much as people know what to expect and their fanbases are already sold on it.
The last Forza Motorsport was released literally 4 and a half years ago.PG released two Horizon games in between 2018 and 2021. This is a ground up reboot on next gen. All we have seen so far is an in-engine trailer that probably wasnt even realtime.

I always thought a summer release was unlikely but who knows what the state of the game is. I don’t think many people care about it in general. The reveal trailer was absolutely awful.

Not exactly a controversial opinion, in my opinion, and my opinion of that opinion not being controversial is also probably not a controversial opinion.

Is this a joke post?

Go to the Forza YouTube channel.

That had a Lets Go! series that spanned 10 episodes, they had multiple behind the scenes preiviews and even a Forza Monthlly.

They gave out bundles of information
He said before E3, in which we got no information. Also, we have zero gameplay of a lot of games projected this year BOTW/Starfield/FM8/Ragnarok. I mean at this point just wait and see.

Forza Horizon 4 came out in 2018. So it hardly annual or even bi-annual release. The point is no one knew what it looked like before the first trailer months before the finished game came out. There is no evidence that Redfall will be delayed and to make that determination simply because there hasn't been lots of gameplay trailers is a little silly. We have no idea what the current state of Redfall is right now. If it's a no show at e3 then perhaps it isn't coming this year.

No way, this is coming out this year 100%, and I'm personally quite excited about it. The world and characters look like they could be interesting. If the gameplay and world is well designed, they could have a winner on their hands.

Of course you got no information before E3, the game was not even officially announced then.

I’ve been saying this. Deathloop got delayed for an entire year and still took an entire month to fix the bugged out AI and add additional QoL features. Their games release messy

I mean i don’t care i just want this vampire killing game. Do i want it this summer? Yes but if it gets delayed to the fall that’s fine too. I just want to play a good co-op vampire hunter game.

Pretty sure both botw and god of war got gameplay reveals already and the irony is people on here keep saying they both won’t make 2022

Prey 2017 was announced 9 months before it launched and had like 2 trailers... Arkane can be a very quick studio when it comes to churning out new games.

but these days as a rule of thumb I ALWAYS expect ANY game to be delayed by at least 3 to 6 months. and I think that is a healthy way to look at release dates these days

This is the most absurd reasoning that people make about a game being delayed or having trouble. Many game companies mostly show off their game the most in the last several weeks before release. Anything earlier would be aligned with a big marketing event like E3 which technically happens before summer does. Why would they be releasing new gameplay and trailers 6-8 months out. So people can watch it and forget about it for months before the final marketing happens?

This is where Gamepass (and MS money) can be a boon for developers.

They dont need to get the hype machine rolling early to try to secure pre-orders to help fund the cause.

They can show a game a month out and let the review scores and player excitement promote the game.

They have a guaranteed user base that will at least give the game a chance, with little hoopla. So they can put thier heads down and grind out the game.

Ehh. New Motorsport is essentially a soft reboot of series so "minimal differences" will or won't apply there...

If Summer 2022 means september, it's plenty of time to get some kind of marketing rolling. Also, there is literally nobody saying that you can't start "hype machine" before E3. GameInformer coverage is enough to start something.
And also, game is Day One in Game Pass so it means that whatever marketing Microsoft/Bethesda is planning, most important thing is that you can try that game without smidge of marketing without paying extra.

Look. I'm not saying that game will 100% come out in summer. All I'm trying to say is that there is no reason to think that game will be delayed just because marketing didn't started yet. Especially since game is in development for 4-5 years.
