ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

After 7 souls game, still trying to get clicks on the topic of an easy mode and accessibility options..

The entitlement, devs don’t have to give you fuck all. There’s so much other flavours out there that will take your hand and guide you on the path to a platinum trophy. Go play them.

Somehow managed to fit gamergate and wokeness into this, wow. Them baits.

Jim still being a massive fat cunt. England can you take it back?

The game is not meant to be soloed. That’s blatantly clear.
Your kidding right ? I 0 hit every single boss and I am at my 3rd Legend Boss and I do not use summons. Its never ceases to amaze how some people are so bad at this game.

My total kill count is roughly 32+ granted though 1 boss took 9 hours of practice to no hit, but it was done.

Godskin Apostle took 9 or so hours to take down solo with 0 hits and no summons and yes I enjoy the challenge. I am on Lord Godfrey now

Not like I asked you to brag or anything because I’m not interested. But the game provides you with summon spirits and free coop without the risk of being invaded. The trailers showed off multiplayer. So it’s clear the game is coop oriented. Which is good. You can solo, but it’s not the way they envisioned it.

I want to post this on Jim's video but opted not to. I do think it's accurate though based on Jim's own logic.

From Software doesn't identify as EASY mode so demanding that they cater to your views makes you a bigot.

Haven't watched, but it feels like complaining about difficulty is invalidated by the outstanding reviews and sales making it abundantly clear that it's been accepted.

Besides, ER has more ways to make life easier than ever before without compromising on its core gameplay. So far I have:
  • Passive healing
  • A special customisable effect flask
  • A choice of NPC summons (one of which self revives)
  • Crafting bombs of your choosing whenever you like (for free, past the inital urn cost)
  • A weapon customisation system that lets me do (almost) whatever I want without the old limitations, including early access to a group poison weapon effect
Couldn't do any of that before. People still want to complain about git gud? They need to git gud. They also need to know what that means: git smart. Pay attention and wait your turn. You die because you tried to hit 4 times knowing you could only fit 3 in, but you kept doing it anyway. Punishing but fair has always been the philosophy.
I did this. Here’s hoping I don’t regret it.
I don't think you will, I get the impression that more builds are viable than ever before.

I'd say yes and no. It's designed to be either. Messages and summons are a big part of it, but moreso than ever the game is solo-friendly (see above) and that's a great choice given the exploration aspect.

I will repeat the question. Was anyone able to duplicate 2nd boss rememberance? It doesn’t show up for me in any of the places you can do it

It's just butthurt, plain and simple.

Granted, people who act like Souls games are easy are annoying as well but there's nothing wrong with a developer staying true to their vision. If FS wants to make difficult games and gatekeep certain play styles, so be it. I've never finished a Souls game but I've also never been mad at the developer for it. I just accept it and move on. I don't even expect to finish Elden Ring but I'm still gonna enjoy it.

To me it'd be like watching a horror movie and demanding a PG version because you don't like blood and stuff. Sometimes things just aren't for you, accept it and move on with your life.

Great post though, you bring up a lot of good points that help to make the game more approachable. It's pretty easy to go long periods of time without dying. The flask refill mechanic for killing groups of enemies is a brilliant addition.

I disagree. Co-op existed since Demons Souls if I am not mistaken. And it is not a brag, plenty of people have done the same. There is also a whole community dedicated to no hit running entire games which just showcases insane levels of skill and understanding game mechanics. People always overblow the difficulty of these games.

It is not that difficult, its so easy to raise your healing flasks in this game unlike previous ones and the jump attack is broken as well and staggering is way easier than previous titles.

The issue is a lot of people refuse to use their brains when they play these types of games unless they already are fans of original and know the drill.

What does 0 hit mean?
It sounds like you don’t hit them…
Do you mean you receive 0 hits?

I got it duplicated using the one in the weeping peninsula. Once you've taken it down just go inside and interact with the stone table

I’ve only beaten Godrich so far. I haven’t yet tried to dupe though I have the first location open to do so.

So 10 hours hit now, I’m enjoying this world, however there are a few annoyances that are fine for most

For example finding the maps, surely a better system is when you find the Bonfires that it fills in where you’ve been or something, I’m near castle Morne and have no idea where the map for this area is despite the messages being left

Look for a little totem icon on the gray map section and that will be the area map. Sometimes those are hard to get too, but you can grab them at any point.

The pillars for where they reside get marked on your map when step into the section, so you can easily track them down without searching blindly.

Just started the game up for the first time and played for an hour..... I think I´ll just uninstall and come back in a few weeks / a few patches later. The permanent mini stutters while my CPU and GPU are at only 50%-70% load are seriously getting on my nerves and jeeeesus is this game ugly to look at coming directly from horizon FW.

Quick step let's me play this like it's bloodborne...now i wonder if the "viceral attacks" scale with dex in this too and i need to find the whip or some cool daggers to dual wield, neat.

The first boss on the storm castle is a really good tutorial if you learn it instead of power crushing it, it really shows you how the AI was upgraded.
For example, for anyone struggling, enemies have insane tracking in their moves meaning that the dev expects you to use the i frames and not just get out of the way of most attacks, also, enemies have attacks that trigger when you attempt to heal or cast, attacks that trigger when you try to punish certain moves and back stance attacks.

It really kinda justifies all the upgrades the main character got, almost. Jumping attack is way too dank, getting a chunky 2 handed weapon coupled with the jump attack it's a pretty easy way to crush most enemies.

So the world is massive, didn't really expect it to be as big as it is. Actually havn't really had the feeling this game creates in regards to world size since my early mmo days trying to find friends starting cities in EQ. I expected the open world to cause sacrifices with the dungeon/castle areas, boy was that incorrect. I've been through 3 of the major castle/dungeons areas now and these have been better than any previous DS games for me, so good no compromises.

I'm so addicted at the moment, I do have some negatives though. Alot of the attack patterns from DS3 have been reused here, which I don't overly care about but it's pretty obvious when they take the abyss watchers move set and give them to waldo the werewolf and crank his speed to mach 1 to make it new. Coop in the open world is pointless without the mounts available. Pvp at the moment seems to be DS3 release bleed spam everywhere, small sample set ive been invaded about 20 times probably at least 17 of them I know were using bleed, I think the ones I'm not sure what they were doing were trying to use weapon arts that could 1 hit kill. The light load dodge/roll seems to be barely worth trying to keep light load for.

Only starfield has a chance of knocking this off goty for me, and I don't like it's chances.
The one thing I truly don't like about the game is they just sped up character movement to feel cheap and arcadey I compare it to Madden and NFL 2k. 2k feels weighty when you move and it's like you feel the weight of a player joking and making moves which is similar to most soul games especially Demon Souls remake.

This man understands game mechanics and uses his brain as opposed to crying and moaning about "Muh Easy Difficulty Wahhhhh"

My only slight disappointment is, I feel early on, there is a lack of cool ass gear. I am about 13 hours in and feel forced to continue upgrading my Estoc where I can, but I am just not a fan of the moveset anymore. Ah well, I suspect as the game goes on there will be much more available.

He looks so fucking weird now he could be a boss in Elden Ring and it'd fit right in.

explore a little more outside of the big main dungeons, there is a ton of shit scattered around in the overworld.

Right now everyone is hyped as hell on the game and most of the takes are bad. It's hard to say that one is better than another when it comes to exploration. One thing Elden Ring does not have is relaxation, BOTW is tranquil at times, same with Skyrim. In BOTW sometimes you will climb a mountain, just to fly back down, or spend time in certain areas because it's nice and beautiful, there is nothing like that in Elden Ring
I see ! Yess relaxation was a major key in BOTW!
Combiened with exploration and discovery , that's why it was magic

I agree, it’s probably because the world is so big now. This is where guides come in handy.

Like when? I've only seen this happen with those wolves in set locations.

No biggie because they're piss easy to deal with
Dragon bosses fall wolves fall and, giants fall, there are alot of enemies in certain areas that fall out of the sky it's dumb. The wolves also have some of the worst animations I've ever seen they don't even have a real jumping animation they just float in the air.

Most animations and general movement in this game is cheap trash. It's like FS got lazy or rushed and just sped up player movement.

This game didn't deserve anywhere near a 10/10 I give it a 7-7.5

A lot of this is just extremely cheap input reading though, not some "amazing upgraded AI", fighting games had it forever and everyone hates it, because the devs don't code in a realistic delay in their reactions.
The AI can basically react instantly the second you press a button, even before your own animation starts; the end result just makes them seem psychic and it's cheap and lazy.

From also still hasn't fixed the input buffering either, this means if you dodge a moment too late and get hit, the game will hold your dodge input, causing you to dodge after being hit, this can be a death sentence with the insane tracking on some of the enemy attacks; it really should get rid of any inputs when you get interrupted by an attack.

There is a lore reason for wolves to fall from the sky. I haven't see any Dragons fall from sky either, if anything they flew in like a normal dragon would. If you are talking about the troll coming down in that gate area, he is not falling down from the sky, he is standing on top of a rock getting ready to jump. Use your camera more and explore around.

It's nice that you try to blatantly shit on this game with very poor reasoning and explanation because you want to be cool and go against the norm and the fact that this is a game of all time. But I pity you and laugh in your face.

I'd rate your post 1/10. Try harder next.time. :)

I've found a couple of things, unfortunately my stats don't align to them yet to wield. I also agree it's just part of how the game is designed considering the open world - per the wiki, it seems a lot of the good weapons are drops from bosses of varying degrees. Probably where Ashes of War come in handy too. I think it's just a change I have to get used to. A slight challenge when I'm still rocking the prisoner armor set and the chain gauntlets, lol.

I think that's roughly correct, though I imagine the Elden Ring audience is more hardcore, plays for longer and therefore produces a higher CCU per copy sold than would normally be expected.

Either way, I think 20+M lifetime is a lock.

I agree, I think lifetime sales will be between 23-25M which is massive improvement from Dark Souls sales number
