I would still hope there is this mode to always enable 120hz without vrr.See my post above.
They are adding unlocked framerates and are removing DRS which was previously being used to smooth out drops from the 30, 40 or 60 fps targets at all times by reducing the resolution. Now they will just keep the resolution the same and let VRR handle any drops and keep the framerate looking smooth even when its variable.
- 120 Hz Display Mode (together with system settings)
- Reduces input latency
- Increases frame rate target of Fidelity graphics mode to 40 fps
- Support for VRR via system settings
- When 120 Hz Display Mode is off, slightly increases dynamic resolution targets
- When 120 Hz Display Mode is on, the frame rate is unlocked and varies based on gameplay
- Improvements to ray-traced reflection quality at glancing angles in low-dynamic-resolution scenarios
Boring? I was there from the start with gsync, I’ve never been able to go back. Never tried VRR but if it’s like gsync it’ll be a game-changer for many games that can’t hold the framerate stable. On PC I literally never see framedrops unless the framerate completely freeze, I see the fps counter drop but can’t see the fps stutter.now let’s never mention this boring shit again
Enabling VRR on some TVs results in poorer picture quality due to backlighting.
Yeah it's real bizarre.Very welcome feature, crazy that people tried to downplay it.
It's always matterd to some. I wonder who...Weird how VRR suddenly matters huh
John from DF even downplayed it the other day.Very welcome feature, crazy that people tried to downplay it.
John from DF even downplayed it the other day.
IIRC he only felt it was absolutely necessary for Elden Ring.
You click on thread with vrr in title and yet you claim to hate hear about vrr?You can also force it on games that don't support it officially.
Thank god this is out so we don't have to hear about it again.
Is Dolby Vision that much of a game changer? How much better is it really?VRR never mattered anyway, all I care about is Dobly Vision and Atmos.
I already deactivated and uninstalled twitter over Elon Musk buying twitter, so who knows lmao.
Fischerman (any condition), Deep Forest (race with the megane) and all the other tracks in rain have noticable stutters. Why do you guys get triggered for something that will make the game better? There are lots of people noticing stutter and here you have people saying that they don't want VRR to fix those stutters. And i only said "this game needs it the most" because this the only game i play right now, so i want it to be even better .I have 130+ hours as well, and most of the events trophies done.
This game still does not "need this the most"... 99% of every other track and event it runs flawlessly. Hyperbole on the other hand, wonder if VRR can fix that?
I gave you the blueprint where it happens you can try it. Stop beeing a fanboy and think for a moment before commenting. There was nothing wrong with what i asked for, don't get triggered warrior.I have almost 150h and call that bullshit.
But there are literally races in the same track with the same settings for over a hour (the new endurance races), so its not just stress test. And it happens on different tracks also, i wrote them down. Its not only in rain or with a full grid, it happens in races during clear daylight with 1 car on the track also. And again why do you guys get triggered, the game is not perfectly locked 60, yes most of the time its 60 and pretty good actually. But there are part where it drops clearly so to eliminate the parts where its lagging is something good right? We all know that screenshot is from a stress test that needs I don’t know how many factors combined. It’s your hyperbole that’s bullshit. Compare the smooth 4K/60 from GT7 to Elden Ring on PS5 and you’ll see how it rings hollow. I should know. I play them both daily.

Those of us who have displays that will use it?It's always matterd to some. I wonder who...
Sure. We'll go with that. Those of us who have displays that will use it?
I don't know if its been posted but Deathloop has also received a PS5 VRR patch today:
Bethesda Support

Most popular game out right now on all platforms including consoles is ELDEN RING!THANK GOD!
Vrr is 95% not needed on a console but the amount of noise some people made over this. yikes
Lose one marketing term, cycle in the next one!Welcome to 2017 PlayStation! Now where is Dolby vision + atmos?! And custom themes!

So, rather than sit around and bitch about it, I just did made a quick decision fitting my beliefs. Unfortunately, though, he's clearly involved to some degree on Starfield, and I'll have to be a hypocrite there cause I ain't missing that game cause of his ass. But at least he doesn't own it! Cause if he ever in any shape or form became somehow directly involved with or part of Xbox, I would never own another Xbox system again lol. So yea, it's fuck that guy for me personally. Other people will say it and not mean it, but I meant every word that I would deactivate and never use twitter again if he got control of it.

Dude, I even don't know what Dolby Vision is, something to do with HDR. I can barely tell HDR apart from SDR so I'm not even going to try to tell different types of HDR apart. Is Dolby Vision that much of a game changer? How much better is it really?
I have Dolby Vision on my TV and on my Series X but never enabled it on my HDMI input on my TV because it's separate to VRR which I can only have one or the other.
yeah... now after I put 90 hours into it and I am finished with it. great. Most popular game out right now on all platforms including consoles is ELDEN RING!
....and it runs like dog shyt without VRR enabled on all platforms.
For playstation players that play elden ring, this update will be a god send provided it supports VRR.
One has zero to do with the other btwSure, HDMI 2.1 existed in 2017.... LOL

No, the TV will adjust to the game variation of fps instead of a fixed refresh rate, that's all. No more screen tearing in theory.Explain to me like I'm a dummy. Does VRR allows for devs to focus on resolution a bit more and over all IQ?
HDMI 2.1 is a cluster as well, doesnt guarantee anything but just one of the many featuresVery true, monitors have been running Freesync on HDMI forever. (To those shopping, not all - be sure to verify)
You don't know that the HDMI Forum VRR was put in the HDMI 2.1 specs??? Too bad
We are talking about consoles here, not PC

Here go to 4:30 you can literally see the lag at the second last corner, and this is on clear daylight with 1 ai car which is out of screen
I have no problem with VRR, just tired of being misused as a weapon for console warring. You click on thread with vrr in title and yet you claim to hate hear about vrr?
Freesync is not an HDMI Forum standard...
VRR is...
Just realised that this must be the news that's triggered a certain crowd on the forum. Wondered why some users were being more antagonising than normal.

Yes and no. You are talking about Dolby Vision Low Latency (Player-led DV). DV LL is indeed purely software-based. The first DV TVs from Sony, for example, were only capable of DV LL. This caused various problems.
However, UHD players do indeed need a corresponding DV chip for real Dolby Vision (TV-led DV). In modern devices, this is usually integrated directly into the SoC. This is also not correctly reflected in the article you linked. But the author of the article cannot be blamed for this. Even the manufacturers and Dolby themselves were surprised when they realised that Dolby Vision LL existed. Which of course sounds absolutely stupid. But it was precisely this stupidity that was responsible for the fact that Dolby Vision was only possible on Sony TVs via apps for a long time and DV via UHD players was only added later (companies like Panasonic, D+M, Apple had to add support for DV LL later on because they did not read the spec sheet correctly and only had support for "true" DV).
These numerous players already had the corresponding hardware built in from the beginning. It is just that the finished software came later.
