OFFICIAL: Starfield and Redfall delayed to 2023

Unbelievable, they dangled that carrot in front of people to get those subs promising AAA games day one and the console will be more than two years old with very little to show in that department.

Xbox fans were hyping this game so much that I knew it wasn't gonna go right.
Lmao so there’s been no triple A games released in game pass. They’ve just been lying huh? Fanboy logic

If they feel it was in Cyberpunk-type state, will a 4-6 month delay be enough? It took more than 15 months for CDPR to fix Cyberpunk. I think Redfall might make H1 2023 and Starfield will be pushed as the big Fall 2023 game.

Either way, glad they didn't release a broken game.

Hype holding for another year.

Very little doesn't mean none.

Very few day one AAA games have released on gamepass so far (you can go as far back as you want), that's not an exaggeration at all. Come on, you need to be able to admit at least that.

edit: I think this thread will be closed, so I posted this on the other thread.

Redfall was expected, but Starfield too? Well that's disappointing. It better have one hell of a showing come June. Wonder what they will have as a fall release now?

I have a PS5, pretty happy with the games I'm playing right now, I was planning on finishing Elden Ring, then Horizon 1 then Horizon FW and Returnal. I was planning on getting an Xbox for Starfield and some older games, so....delay Starfield, is fine by me.
Anyway, Bethesda better not use the Cyberpunk example, they got a closer one... Fallout 76.

I actually did think they would hit 11/11 with Starfield. Why announce a date so confidently too.

Redfall never felt like it was coming this year.

the second half of 2022 is fucking barren now though.
i bet the next date will be 3rd February 2023 because americans are weird and that would be 2/3/23.

Wow.

Redfall was expected, no idea why they didn't announce it earlier. But Starfield they have been pushing for November for months now. However I'm glad Bethesda arent satisfied with putting out a buggy mess like they normally do. I think it's clear MS wouldn't allow them to do that under their ownership.

I wonder what MS has planned for GamePass, because this year has been dire for them.

Maybe overreacting, I regret my Series X purchase. It’s first party is more of the same so far, no clear multiplat advantages , noisy controller and the UI is last gen with added themes. I barely use it lately.
You can always pass it forward and move on, unless you already bought years worth of Gamepass then your options are more limited.

It's just so weird! I really thought they delayed it last year because Microsoft told them to spend a year ironing out bugs and making it look prettier, but this just tells me they actually have more problems than just bug fixing...

Starfield, please don't be trash.

Insert as appropriate depending on circumstance:

1) How dare they release a game in this state? They should have delayed it. Total money grab.

2) What a fucking joke that they delayed it! Now they have no big Christmas release! I’m selling all my consoles.

Fucking internet :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I kind of like that they didn’t wring their hands over the announcement - no ‘difficult decision’ or ‘we know this is disappointing’ crap. Just ‘we’ve decided to delay it to make sure it’s right’.

Cyberpunk changed the landscape for big RPG releases, Bethesda can't afford to do their usual launches full of bugs and performance issues otherwise the backlash would be huge and with a new IP they can't afford it.
They need more time, it's better this way.

It's ironic though that so many people pretended this wasn't even a possibility while at the same time they were concerned about other games being delayed.

For real though, they need to stop announcing release dates/windows until they know for certain they can hit them
Maybe FFXVI devs really do have the right idea by not talkin about or showin their game until its actually ready. As it is the 2020 reveal was probably too eary.

And lol Call of Duty is going to sell so, so, sooooo fucking much. Zero competition. Red carpet rolled out.
i agree, i have a bad taste in my mouth now for starfield and breath of the wild 2 because of these massive delays. Square is wise not to commit to a release time window for 16 until they know they can hit it. Remember how embarassing it was for them when they announced xv’s release date just to delay it a month later?
