This new Delayed Input was both hilarious and brought up a lot of points that I agree with, regarding the characters.
He would say the same thing about Xenoblade 1&2, he never had interest in Xeno series.

Heck I bet you anything, he would say the same thing about 13 Sentinels characters.

He's always stuck me as a Nintendo hater. I'm pretty sure he used to be part of gametrailers
I like him and I know him since GT in Invisible Wall podcast days but he has almost ZERO interest in JRPGs maybe other than Pokémon.
The only reason his covering Xenoblade because it had Direct.

Hey guys I know this is off-topic but I’m gonna ask here since this thread is active. Don’t know if there is a Xenoblade community thread.

Basically I’m at chapter 7 in Xenoblade 2 and I reached the end of the underground dungeon in Leftheria. I fought the boss who make clones of himself, thankfully he’s not that difficult. However the game gets stuck the loading screen right after the boss, before moving to the next cutscene. I waited a long time and nothing happened, the loading animations goes on and on. Has anyone encountered this bug? Is there a way to get around it? It would be a real bummer to not play the rest of the game because of this.

I didn’t encounter this bug before, not even on my recent playthrough but I would say just restart the game again and see if you encounter the same bug again.
Thanks, I’ll try again after charging the Switch. Luckily I didn’t have much trouble with the boss otherwise that fighting him again would be a real pain in the ass. I have the latest version of the game so I don’t think it’s something that can be fixed with a patch.

Xenoblade 2 has some annoying issues that I hope are fixed in 3. Like surfaces you can’t jump onto even though you should, having to go through an area after dying, not being able to reload your save from the menu, or taking fall damage right in front of an enemy that finishes you off.

having to go through an area after dying, not being able to reload your save from the menu,
mostly because in Xenoblade there is no traditional death, when you die you just respawn to closes fast travel point.

As as for save that mostly because of how Blade system works, every time you open a core crystal the game saves, thankfully you dont need to worry about that in XBC3.

Yeah well I wish the monster-infested areas had more fast travel points.

I beat the boss again and the game proceeded normally! Phew. I was worried. That cutscene was awesome and I appreciate the fleshing out (no pun intended) of characters in this chapter, despite the tedious dungeon. I just skipped the giant spider before it noticed me and ran away from the giant flying fish. These kinds of enemies have too much HP and hit too hard, and there is no real strategy you can use to beat them, it’s just not worth it. The combat has a lot of cool stuff going on but in practice it just boils down to managing your healing while you keep attacking. Basically have several blades with healing abilities spread out across your party.

I also discovered a tip for the annoying field abilities, which I hope they improve in 3. I just assign all the blades with the field skills required to my characters, instead of trying to level up field skill level, which has some ridiculous conditions like go kill a monster you don’t know, or having to do X task Y number of times but the game FAILS to keep count.

Sorry for the rant lol.

lol Yeah I thought it was good.
I like this franchise but the character have always been a bunch of generic cookie cutter anime tropes. I still always enjoy the plot but it's more because of the actual world and events that take place in it rather than the actual characters.

Nah ranting is fine glad you are enjoying the game.

But you can totally take out those kinds of giant overpowered enemies with strategy and that's the most fun part of the game for me. But you need to know the depth and complexity of the battle system which the game does not explain well and would be hard to understand even if it is explained well because it is a crazy deep battle system even for a turn based game, and yet it isn't turn based and everything is happening in real time which makes it trickier to strategize.

With that spider, everyone in this place has their blade power limited because this dungeon drains ether energy, so you can't do level 3 combos. Except Poppi doesn't draw ether from the atmosphere because she's an artificial blade, she has an internal ether furnace so she's still able to use all her power, and she's the most powerful character in the game when set up carefully anyway. So you can set up her character to build specials fast and rely on Tora and Poppi to fight the spider. Poppibuster is also an artificial blade so he can help too. This is all just more stuff that the game sort of implies but doesn't explicitly say that is really helpful to know.

For me characters like Nia and Zeke has nice depth and there were more to them than when we first meet.

I believe we gonna get the same with XC3 characters but they are not going in to depth of what these characters all about in 24 min direct.

Again he would say same thing with games like 13 Sentinels because his just not in to these type of games.

I’m working through one but this game is making me more interested in 2. Do we think it will ever go on sale or should I just buy the $90 digital version as with most of these games the physical is rare.

One concern is that in XCX (which I love) characters are customizable which is great when fighting high level tyrants but it also plays a factor in making characters have less personality because the classes are sort of generic so they can apply to anyone. In XC1 the character IS the class, so all the buff tanky guy moves are associated with Reyn and all the weirdo moves like playing dead or doing an encouragement dance are associated with Riki. When Reyn yells out "Wild down!" and topples an enemy, part of the charm is that he is the guy that does that, your big tanky friend. But now anyone could do that, and your tanky friend Lanz might not do that because he is leveling up as a healer so he can have supplemental healing abilities.

The costumes already look a tad more on the bland side because they need to fit on every character, but the extreme class customization may also make the cast feel a bit less clearly defined and unique, so characters really might not be as strong as in XC1 and XC2. From a gameplay standpoint, that level of customization will be awesome to play around with though.

Maybe there will be a holiday sale at some point or something? I'm afraid I don't know.

I know were you coming from but in XC2 you also could equip every characters with any Blade you want and the Blades were somewhat act as classes but I didn't think any of the character lost their "personality because of it.

It was same with XC1 much more "normal" clothing compare to XC2 but it thanks to that they can change fashion which something people were asking for it.

More outfits are coming but I think fashion now just means choosing from different class outfits, I don't think they're saying you have different armour pieces to combine. Mixing all the different armour pieces together in Xenoblade 1 was awesome and made characters look really cool tho. I still remember I gave Dunban weird armour with an epic shoulder pad that was really wide and covered up other people's faces in cutscenes, it was awesome

I think because in XC1 the armor worked very similar to Monster Hunter series, you can put different piece armour and equip gems in each piece which works similar to decoration in MH.

Also I think in XC3 you can wear other cloths other than class cloths because the picture I posted above is Noah wearing his military uniform.

They list new outfits as one of the things coming in the paid DLC along with new heroes and quests

We saw those Heroes in affinity charts which we can safely say Heroes will have their own quests similar to Blades which I'm very happy about, in fact there is a good chance we get some the Heroes only through side quests.

Edit: Also we can also assume Oni looking people are the new race in Xenoblade 3, we saw some of NPC in affinity chart have similar tiny horn like her.

I had my doubts at first, but I'm officially hyped. The music sounds AMAZING. Nice to see good music making a come back in RPGs.
I'm not really interested in the characters, but the setting and premise looks cool, as does the villains. The combat looks a lot more actiony and fluid which is promising. I also like that we don't have to deal with having those blades and their atrocious gotcha and affinity systems. It seems like everything is more focused but with plenty of variety to spice things up. Just wish Nintendo had a more powerful device to play it on.

I might alone on this but actually digging the characters here and I also like the fact how character wear comfortable outfits when they are in camp instead if sleeping full armour like in most JRPGs.

I'm torn on how I feel about this. On one hand, I will take any options they will give me to make these characters have a little more of a unique look, but on the other hand, it's extremely shady to give us boring clothes in the main game then sell the interesting stuff as DLC.

At least this picture confirms outfits other than biker pants + colored jacket.

I’m not understanding this, XC1’s default cloth was not exactly flashy either.

XC2 was only one in series had flashy cloths but because of that you couldn’t change their fashion.

I’m just not understanding some of these complains at all. When XC2 was coming out people complained the character designs were too flashy so they couldn't take the story seriously now they complain they are not flashy enough.

Monolith Soft can’t win no matter what they do.

Xenoblade 2 have many issues, they release a lot of patch for it. Xenoblade 2 didn't have save slot because they auto-save for the gacha. Fall damage is part of Xenoblade's tradition, the only one that didn't have fall damage is Xenoblade, because it set in a low gravity planet.
I think one of the reason Xenoblade 2 have many problems is because Monolith Soft develop it concurrently with BOTW. Their resources were halved. It should be full force for Xenoblade 3 since the Kyoto studio is now bigger.

The only things that people will always complain about Xenoblade series are the character design. Xenoblade 3 have perfect character design, as they are military people.

It would be really cool if maybe in the post game, you’re given complete freedom of your party makeup. So you could theoretically have an entire party of Heroes! Would be very fun to mess around with!

I wish there was an option to disable all the dialogue that happens during battle.

I really want to get into these games, but I'm always turned off by the obnoxious chatter that happens with the party members calling out every single attack.

None of the mechanics in this game are particularly groundbreaking for an MMO style rpg, I don’t see how he can be overwhelmed. It seems like he has a disinterest in RPGs in general, which begs the question of why is he even bothering to cover this game?

If you don’t like the character designs, I get it. I love them, they’re unique while not being too over the top. But to each their own. But to make a statement like “ I can’t imagine any of these characters saying anything interesting.” What? We’re looking at what will probably be a 70+ hour game with lots of story twists and turns. The series is also known for having great character development. Just sound like such a hollow statement for someone who obviously doesn’t care about the franchise, so again, why even cover it?

Please someone tell me it gets better.

I checked in Xenoblade 2 and you can adjust the audio settings to your liking. Among them is the volume of dialogue in battle which you can reduce. Personally I find many of the character lines funny so they don’t bother me. I suppose Xenoblade 1 and 3 have the same audio settings. I say you should give this series a try.

The overall theme of Xenoblade 2 is boy meets girl, so the game is pretty much anime. The battle in the beginning is very bland, You need full party to make it more engaging, with full blade slot. I think many people said it get better at after chapter 4

I just checked Xenoblade DE, no setting for dialogue in battle. I guess Xenoblade 3 will have it because the option on Xenoblade 2 also added later on via patch

Made it to Chapter 4, soewhat curious about the story, but still just not feeling the gameplay. More mechanics doesn't equal better mechanics. The pouch system is bad, the merc system just unlocked and whenever I see something like this in any game I ask... why? It's never fun. The game makes it prohibitive to try out new blades, as upgrading weapons is a one time use of an item, and it can't be transferred over. You need a rare item to transfer blades between characters, which is absurd too. The game sometimes feels complicated to be complicated, and it is to a degree where I am just not sure if I want to keep going.

It's also a worry when it comes to XB3, from what I hear the combat is going to be another crazy mishmash of systems, so might wait for reviews now. It's odd, I started XB2 since XB3 was coming out, and it just kind of killed any excitement for 3. I just never expected the same team that made XB1 would fumble so badly with a sequel. Then again, Monolith made Xenosaga 2, and that game is a load of horse shit.

As for the boy meets girl, that isn't my issue with it. It is more that having a 12 year old looking protag who is a frigging idiot and unironically screams about the power of friendship is a bit off putting. I don't mind anime styled RPGs, but this just feels like a generic ass shonen plot so far.

I personally LOOOVE the combat in XC2 but the game doesn’t have best tutorial.

I recently played both XC1&2 back to back, the whole “power of friendship” is also in original game, HECK original game has whole love triangle similar haram anime.

Lol, power of friendship in the first game I think is stronger than in 2. Literally the third Monado that Shulk used to defeat Zanza appeared because the power of friendship.

I know right? I dont know why people pretending XC1 somehow was less "anime", Fiora is literately "childhood friend/crush" that bring lunch boxes for Shulk.

I LOVED both 1st and 2nd game to death but I so fucking sick of people bring "anime" BS argument against XC2 as if original game was not guilty of the same thing somehow.

You know what!? I give up! I'm soooooo done talking about "character designs" in every fucking Xeno thread.

In Direct we learned so many interesting mechanics and options and here we are still stuck talking about fucking cloths and how they are not "flashy" enough even tho in XC2 they complained the cloths its too fucking flashy.

Hate to be that guy but do I need to play the first two? this looks interesting enough for me to jump in blind, but not if it’s a continuation of the second (plus the second one is more expensive than preordering this one for some reason). All I know about this series is that the characters have some kinda rural UK accents, but I might be mixing it up with Dragon Quest

In my opinion you get much more out of the world and story if you played the first two game but you can still enjoy overall story without playing any of them.

The characters are different cast and the world are not connected directly, but if you play the first two, you'll enjoy it more because of some revelation at the end of the game.
But Xenoblade 3 seems more connected because the world is mixed between Xenoblade 1 and 2.

Nintendo said you can enjoy Xenoblade 3 without playing the first two games, but they also said "Xenoblade 3 depicts the future of the world of Xenoblade 1 and 2."

You can never please everybody, man. We will enjoy the hell out of the game. If someone doesn’t want to play it because they don’t like Noah’s shirt and there’s some characters with cat ears, screw ‘em. 😄

It looks to me like Monolith worked really hard to please the fans of both the first and second games. Literally the world, the characters designs, the combat system, story. Everything! I can see how much effort they put in! Amazing developer.
