Just dont get triggered by opinions man.
Okay I won't. ;)

The game isn't aimed at you or probably most people here who have already played it. This can be a good example of "voting with your wallet" for you and others that feel the same way. I think they are positioning the game to come out with the TV series and given they are a business, they are going to want to make money from it. That's just obvious. You can simply not buy it.

But all this stuff with remakes and remasters has always existed. So it is not even a new trend. So it does not even have to become a new trend. After all, it already is one.

Just two examples:
Shadow of the Colossus:
PS2: 2005/2006
PS3 Remaster: 2011
PS4 Remake: 2018

PS2: Ratchet & Clank 1: 2002
PS2: Ratchet & Clank 2: 2003
PS2: Ratchet & Clank 3: 2004
PS3: The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy: 2012
PS4: Ratchet & Clank Remake (only R&C 1): 2016

Well, with The Last of Us, we have ve now had the remastered version a year after release. And if you like, the remastered version was remastered again when the PS4 PRO update came. (2013 - 2014 - 2016)

But the time gap between the original releases in 2013 and 2014 (8/9 years) are not even unusual time gaps compared to other remasters/remakes. Demon's Souls is just another example. (2009/2010 vs. 2020). This clearly shows that remasters/remakes are neither something new nor something unusual after this period of time.
In the case of The Last of Us, I simply believe that the game is still much more present in people's minds. There are certainly many reasons for this. On the one hand, the sequel only came out in 2020, which is why many people only played the game again then. On the other hand, TLOU was just so good that it was talked about intensively again and again. And the internet has also changed over time. People are much more involved with certain games. Be it through subreddits, Discord, YouTube or other social networks. These were things that were nowhere near as intense 10+ years ago.

Slow down, too much fucking logic in this post for many.

My favorite is "we got a remaster on PS4"

"We got a remaster of SoTC on PS3 and a remake on PS4"

"but thats was a PS2 game doe"

"This is a PS3 game to PS5 doez...."

(finds goalpost to cry over)

I've never seen some fucking standard where it needs to be decades to remake a fucking game, so folks might want to cry harder when they see those PS3 games gets remade. The Last Of Us 1 coming out in 2013 doesn't fucking mean it wasn't using 2006 technology folks, I don't know where this shit comes from with this gatekeeping crap of pretending it NEEDS to be 50 years before a remake as to not hurt their fangirl feelings or something. I don't buy this is being talked about because the standard of remakes was 20 years or some shit lol As if we NEVER got a remake before this lol

Even publishers like Capcom who might as well wrote the book on remakes lol From the original in 1996 to the remake in 2002, this is a difference of 6 years, from 1 generation to the next, you can't find 1 fucking article during the year of that games reveal to release talking about some stupid fanboy shit of "tooooo sooooonz" "ohhhh noez" nothing like that was ever said regarding that by the majority and I can't find one publication that made those types of comments. So I simply don't buy that anyone gives a shit from 9 years to 10 or even 13 years as it sounding like literally gatekeeping fanboys would argue "too soonz" regardless.

From 1 system to the next is whats important, this idea that the GAME came out in 2013 and THIS game is coming out in 2022 imho is irrelevant, the relevancy here is the fucking PS3 came out in 2006, PS5 came out in 2020. The hardware the game was made from is the gap here folks.

So if Capcom waits until 2006 to put out RE1 remake on Gamecube, was some huge difference suppose to happen here? The fuck? lol Development might help with more time, it won't move tech and hardware to some massive degree for folks to be pretending a PS3 game being remade on PS5 is um "too soon".

I question why that is being stated about this game, yet disregarded about majority of remakes. Dead Space remake is literally from PS3 to PS5 lol Anything from PS3 to PS5 imho, is fair game and makes sense for a remake.

It's not about if the remake is gonna be polished or not, the issue here is that the game ain't that old, and still hold to this day, so didn't really need a remake, just imagine the disaster if this becomes a trend and so every game will be remade every 9 years after its release...
Well that’s obviously not going to happen is it.

sadly no, which is why modern AAA gaming is a joke and targeting casual players that barely know how to hold a controller... as seen in this game :)

but the casuals are dominating, even on this forum a sizable amount of users are pretty much casual players
Your description of the gameplay sounds like a casual playing a game that was to hard for them to enjoy
If you had to sneak by those enemies so much maybe thats why the game sucked for you.

My experience with the game was more action packed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They should give people who own the ps3/4 games a discount if it's not a cash grab.

LOVE TLOU 1/2. Some of the best games ever IMO, but no,this is 10000000000000% a cash grab. I'll pick this up when it's 20 or less
So everyone who got the game with pslus and whatnot should get a discount for the remake?

Thats actually mental.

How about if you aren't interested don't buy it?
If its to pricey for you wait for discounts or until they put it on their subscription service?

People should just vote with their wallets.

I mean he's not entirely wrong. If you can believe this I got a good trade in value for the PS3 version at Gamestop to upgrade to the PS4 version when that was new.

Never pay $50+ or so just to play Last of Us 1 again my dudes. Then again maybe I'm just still upset at the PS3-PS4 versions and what they pulled. They could have maybe waited at least 2 or more years to release this new version.

70 dollar probably 80 euro remakes. No matter the passion the remake has, even a new game isn't worth that price specially not single player games that are heavily story based, as u play them once and never again and they are short on top of it.

What a joke.

It's a cash grab not because its lazily made, but that it's a ps3 game that has been ported to ps4, and is now being ported to ps5. Days Gone died for this!
PS: That box art cracks me up; they couldn't just make Joel disappear, so they did the next best thing, give him as little space as possible

It's overpriced, everyone knows it apparently except Sony.
Since it will have a quality that blows everything else out of the water, I'm fine with it 😌 it's not overpriced, it's just priced.

Also I genuinely don't understand the criticism. Is anyone holding a gun to your head, forcing you to buy it? If you're not interested and you find it too expensive - don't buy it!

See how easy that was? 🥰

No it's not mental. It's a remake of a remake that's not needed.How about this,Anyone who's bought TLOU2 should get a discount,or better yet,it should be on ps+++ day 1.

I'm intrested in it,but for 20-25 (which I will wait for as I've beaten TLOU1 5 times already)

Thats your opinion mate.
I've got no issues paying that for a game I wanna play.

We've already played the game twice. It's not worth $70 for some new controls and graphics. Is the story redone? New levels? Nope. It's a rehash, a redo of a redo, no matter what you say it will never be worth $70.

Sony just hoping there is enough suckers out there who will pay $70 before they drop the price in half like 45 days later, just watch.

And do note I love the game, one of my favorites of all time. And nope nobody is forcing me to buy it, but it's annoying sony is forcing me to wait just to abuse people like you.

This game bring worth $70 is almost equal to the idea that star citizen will ever be released.

This remake is probably meant for people that haven't played the first one yet or for hardcore fans and those that don't mind paying full price. Also probably related to the tv show to make even more money out of it.
We will see if Sony made the right choice.

The problem is not the work , the problem is the game was already remastered and holds really well to this day its crisp and clean on a 4k screen with 60 fps and feels totally unnecessary to remake it again.

9 years is a very long time in technology. That are 2 generations of consoles. Some games should be remade after 9 years would be great because way more would be possible graphics physics content wise.I am saying some games which are master pieces and in this case it fits. The Last of Us was amazing in every regard when it came out but the game age horrible graphics wise. And this game is for fans and new people I don’t understand why people moan about it.If you had played it already move on if you are a big fan or new then great you will have an amazing experience.

I've played the original like 6 times. I might play the remake at some point, but I'm in no hurry. The one thing I disagree with is the price tag.

Rather than a re- remake personally I would have preferred a VR version of the original game for PSVR 2. First person with hand tracking to interact and shoot, very similar to Resident Evil 4 for Quest 2

Ok, so you don't wanna buy it. Others do? If there are people who want to play it and buy it, the game is not unnecessary for them.

Is every game that doesn't appeal to you personally unnecessary? I still don't understand the problem here 🤷‍♂️

As soon as you have to argue if something is worth what it costs you know there's some issues......

Good effort employee working on game though....you tried.

The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to believe this remaster only exists to shore up hype for the HBO show releasing sometime next year. It's a shame really because Naughty Dog has so many older titles like the original Uncharted or even Jak & Dexter that deserve the graphical overhaul more than TLoU.

The third release of a game in less than 10 years? Of course it's not a cash grab

Never the less, i'm curious to see how much they upgraded animations and ia compared to tlou2 for this one...(no much hope tbh)

but nowadays its harder.
So when I look at The Last of Us Remastered and compare it to The Last of Us Part II, the difference is just enormous. You just have to remember that TLOU Remastered is still a PS3 game at its core, or based on it.

SoTC, Halo and Gears remasters were priced at 40 bucks, since reusing it saved money and development time.
The price is also about the only thing I would also criticise for exactly this reason.

Same crowd drooling at MCC and latest Mass Effect remasters that still look like old, polished turds. Some are just jealous of how Sony is leading by a huge margin in quality when it comes to remasters and remakes.
MCC was a 4 game package with Halo 1 and 2 being completely graphically overhauled and nearly 2 hours of new CG cutscenes This new TLoU remaster meanwhile costs more than the 2013 original for half the content of the original. Don't know why anyone would compare the value proposition of these two games and think TLoU Remaster comes out on top 😂

How is it a disaster if remakes are done? Just don't buy them if you don't want them lmao.

I'm totally expecting Sony to start bundling the game with the ps5 around November. Gotta get those numbers up!
You're probably gonna be right about that one, just like you were with God of War Ragnarok release date buddy.

Less than two months ! Actually pretty excited to see/feel how this game plays.

Super glad PC players get to see some single player masterpiece too since I have a lot of friends that only own a PC and no console at all. Hope they don't have to wait too long after the PS5 release.

I don't expect it to sell well, because most people already played it and can easily skip it and spend their money and time somewhere else (like on a gaming forum in TLOU threads). Maybe 1.5 million on PS5 and 1 million PC during the first 12 month of each release.

It isn't needed. I NEED a discount for me to want to buy ( like I said) 50-75% off or as I said I will just wait until it's 20-25 or put on ps+ ( I do like the game alot but not buying it a third time for full price)

Not really, alot of people are calling it a cash grab aswell. It will sell okay, its an amazing game and this holiday is very dry.

Sony could of remastered so many other games (killzone 2,sly coopter, jak and daxter games, legend of dragoon etc) instead of a game that hasn't been out that long and already got a ps4 remake.

Yep, I played it for the first time 15 months or so ago and at no point I had the desire for a remake, the graphics and gameplay where fantastic.

As I understand, this remake is more about tying it with the upcoming television series, right?

Why would God of War 2018 be more meticulously built than the latest ND project?

TLOU is a PS3 game so if they want to remake it as a PS5 game while the rest of the studio ramps up on a new project, then that seems perfectly reasonable.

That isn't my issue with this. My issue is that it's a remake for the PS5 that looks like a PS4 game.

Lets be real, smart ppl will always vote with their money, if you think its not worth the price dont buy simple as that but idiots will always buy and eat up anything the industry shits out of their ass, I mean a ton of gaffers bought and played the GTA "remasters", and Diablo Immortal mtx and so on so ND could've made this 100euros and far worse in terms of remastering and gaf and the other world would still eat this shit up. That being said, it's a cash grab. It should be 30 euros at best.

As long as they changed the gameplay to match part 2 I'm all in the only thing I hated about Part one was the shitty 'heavy' gameplay part two was so fluid and just ridiculously fun to play.

Yeah I am excited to see how the gameplay feels as well. Lots of people who never gave TLOU2 a chance don't know that TLOU2 has absolutely awesome gameplay that feels perfect for this kind of game. A gigantic upgrade from TLOU1. It is a night and day difference.

Actually surprised how many people already have strong hateful opinions on this game even though we haven't seen gameplay. The passive aggressive insults in here are pretty wild implying people are idiots and the opposite of smart. Pretty sad for having a discussion in a forum even though I agree that 70$ is too much for this I fail to see how being condescending and insulting to others help at all.

Attack the argument and not the people. No idea why that still must be said. Pretty disappointing behavior.

Bend Studio, a studio owned by Sony is defending Sonys choice to remake one of Sonys best sellers.

It's 100% a cash grab, but of course they won't admit it. 😂
