Finished Trails of Cold Steel 1-4, got the true ending. Such a fun 500 hours. I'm going to miss the team from class 7.

Trying to figure out what to play to cleanse my pallette, so to speak, before I start my next series. It's going to be hard to find a replacement for that story.

Live A Live's remake on the Switch.

Haven't played much, but so far...

Good graphics, good music, good gameplay and good story. Good game, simple as.

I’ve gotten around to playing Control on the XSS and I’m happy with it. Shooting and force throwing all the things is good fun.

I wrapped up the main quest to Morrowind and might move on to the Tribunal dlc…not sure tho.

I've just about finished the platinum for Stray. Waiting for my cat to finish sleeping for an hour for my final trophy.

I'm undecided what's next. I kind of feel like Sonic Origins. I very rarely complain about a game being overpriced, but $40 seems way too high for these games Sega has been selling over and over for a few bucks or a part of much larger collections.

I'm also tempted to start Live A Live, but I was going to save it for when I'll be traveling and on plane rides and hotel rooms.

I'm also playing control.

The gameplay is sloppy, but that's just fine, given the composition of the game. And it is fun to throw things around. That's most of what you do when you fight. Throw a couple things, shoot, dash. Enemies are ehhhhh... It's totally good enough if you are not they type for whom gameplay is king every time.

But the map is great, the visual design and graphics are great. The scp/xfiles vibe is just fucking outstanding. The dream-rules make the story hard to grasp until you let it soak in. It even moves along at a snappy pace unless you get lost(I get lost a lot). Great game so far!

Forza Horizon 5 - Hot Wheels expansion
Absolutely loving it! Doing the S1 content now, it’s like riding a roller coaster at times with all the loops and twists, so cool 👌

No Man’s Sky - Endurance update
It’s just awesome, so much to do now, been doing lots of freighter tasks and building a base there, then the usual never-ending planetary base building.

Stray
Slow and linear but still somewhat interesting. Looks gorgeous!

A Plague Tale
Great story telling and unique visual style but it’s way too linear for me at least early on, feels like a never-ending tutorial, I’m not having fun tbh but I’ll give it an hour more until I check youtube instead to get ready for the sequel.

Despite some Dualsense issues yesterday I managed to knock out 5 hours on Uncharted The Lost Legacy. Fantastic game so far, absolutely love the map. It’s made me rethink a few things about Uncharted as a whole. While I think Nate’s story is told, and whilst it would be contrived, they definitely could soft reboot with Cassie as the protagonist. They just need to make sure she’s as strong as her mother and not some little modern dork.

I think it’s also clear that Uncharted as a franchise is a Goliath compared to The Last of Us, which really was lighting in a bottle, as the second one proved. ND’s prowess seems to lend itself to Uncharted much more.

Originally I thought that I didn’t want more Uncharted, but now I’m thinking why should this end? There is nothing else like it.

Finished Unavowed. What an amazing game, so well written and atmospheric.

The whole thing kind of reminded me of the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher.

Just finished the main story in Horizon Forbidden West on PS5.

Holy Christmas does that game look the tits in 4K Cinematic/Bells and Whistles mode on my C9.

Now I can’t decide between TMNT Shredders Revenge, Sifu or Stray to play next…

Doom Eternal is god awful, but the DLC is miles worse. The second one especially. Fuck that game. 2016 was pretty good and they just leaned hard into the worst aspects possible

Now, as for games played... I was hindered for a few days because my computer wouldn't start, ended up realising it was a short on the rear of the board... so anyway, I finally finished my Gunvolt series playthrough for now with Luminous Avenger iX 2. Tentative review (because I haven't score-attacked yet or done the true ending which is locked behind hard mode which itself is locked in the most esoteric way possible lol):

This is more of a mixed review, but there's something in this game that I really like...

They took Copen's gameplay from iX, neutered it, and added via a weirdly unexplained saw-blade attack the vaguest possible hint of Megaman Zero (referenced explicitly in the bisection death animation when enemies are cut). Enemies are more interesting than in previous Gunvolt games, and it feels like some effort was put into making them fit with the gameplay mechanics... but not really. There are special enemies that you need to hit from the top and/or back with the dash, but the solution is always the same, and these enemies don't really allow for much interplay or anything else that could be interesting. When dealing with regular enemies, it feels too much like rote— dash at enemy, blast while hovering down, land, repeat. You do also have a melee attack, the aforementioned saw-blade, but it is ABSOLUTELY FUCKING USELESS. I don't understand what they were thinking when they designed this,

Bosses are more difficult than previous games. They straddle the line between reasonable and unreasonable, and some of them are more on one side than the other... truly though, I enjoyed a lot of them. A few are BS, and the worst are exacerbated by the amount of visual noise on the screen. That was a problem with Copen in previous games, too, but it sucks here because of how difficult the bosses are. One boss in particular has projectiles with colour-clash with Copen's projectiles and it makes the fight unbearable.

The final boss is fucking awful. It's not that difficult in general, but it's boring as hell and it has one attack that is literally impossible to predict or reliably dodge, at least as far as I can tell. It takes forever and just sucks ass.

What do I like? Well first of all, the songs are real good in this one. Secondly, I sort of sympathise with their plight... Copen is pretty much just zooming a screen or two across and then bouncing off whatever enemies happen to be there, or else memorisation of enemy placement for a score run. They wanted to make a game where the dash was more limited and you would have to pay more attention to things on screen, enemy attacks, where you can land etc... a slower, more considered version of Copen's gameplay. At points it almost comes together, but it doesn't feel like they were able to really bring it together overall, and so you just have a gimped version of Copen with sort-of more interesting enemies and decent, challenging bosses. It's okay!

Stray - finished it yesterday, unique, charming, gorgeous.

GT7 - might be the best racer I've ever played. Always online is bullshit though, have had trouble changing my internet contract the past few days and haven't been able to play it.

Wild Arms 3 - replayed Wild Arms recently and decided I'd check out it's sequel which I never played back in the day. Digging it, cool cel-shaded art style, same dope Tools system, 4 characters instead of previous 3, summon mechanic similar to FFVIII Junction system, you equip Guardians to access their spells and boost various stats.

You should play Wild Arms 4, it's sort of the black sheep of the series but it's very entertaining, stupid and dare I say, "heartful"? It's unironically one of my fav Wild Arms games

WA3 does own though. On top of everything else I like the multiple OPs the game has. Sometimes on the original disk copy (at least the european one) it would play the Jap intro instead of the dubbed one, which was pretty nice!

Ghost of tsushima - absolutely love it, but I fucked up with my saves while drunk and eliminated 5 hours of progress.... Gonna take me a while to go back

Ff7r (since tsushima fuck up) - I'm not very far, but really appreciating the expanded Jessie/biggs/wedge relationship with cloud, I have a vague idea of how the game ends, but the dementors and frequency of sephiroth flashbacks is very off putting, hope that levels/pays off

FH5 Hot Wheels - enjoying it, but didn't have Hot Wheels as a kid so some of the nostalgia factor is lost on me. Would have preferred either a more serious expansion, or something different.

Stray - Average as fuck. Has some appeal because of the cat element, but very basic gameplay and the cat has surprisingly little personality. Glad it was free, as I might have been suckered into buying it.

Crash Bandicoot 4 - didn't think I would like this, but really enjoying it on PS Plus.

After Sekiro, started Yooka Laylee Impossible Lair, kindda disappointed I probably won't see the end of the story as the last level is pretty damn impossible! Wish the developers added checkpoints there god damn.
I just wanted a respite after Elden Ring and Sekiro with some casual fun.
And now im stuck again playing a hard game and getting frustrated for days because mentally I just cant leave it unfinished.

Finished Zelda Link Between Worlds. Had a lot of fun with it, nice little chill game with pretty cool 3D effects. Been so many years since I used my 3ds and Jesus is the design bad. So uncomfortable to use and hard to use it when sitting in a car etc since the 3D sweet spot is so narrow. Little bit of shaking makes it not ideal for use.

Got all the rewards in Halo's Alpha Pack or something so I can play ranked again.

Guess I played very well during the matches for solo/duo because even tho I'm silver it's much more competitive than croasplay where I'm almost at platinum 4.

Solo/duo has lots of 2 friends on comms I feel. And searching takes 5 times as long as Crossplay.

I'm playing Rime with my daughters (7 and 10). I totally recommend it for children: the atmosphere is poetic, graphics are sweet, you can't die, puzzles are not too hard and it's a great way to learn to control a character in 3d.

I just picked up a Mario RPG-like game called Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan which would be perfect to play with younger children.

Spent the last few evenings playing Ghostwire Tokyo and man was I left feeling disappointed. Such a beautiful looking rendition of Tokyo ruined by a boring as hell combat system and an obscene amount of open world checklist collect-a-thon content padding. I managed to find all the tanuki and yokai, cleanse all the torii gates, finish all the side quests, and gather 125K spirits before I reached a point where I just wanted it to be over with and subsequently pushed through the rest of the campaign.

I am on the lake looking for that statue
Nice. Did that today. I was lvl 1, and there's two purple lvl 5 drugans. Had to isolate the heavy on the beach and then get the second to come out of the cave, though it usually comes on its own. Good little challenge

I finally got my hands on PS5 (funny story, was on my way to a funeral, and saw someone walking out a GameStop with one, so I was able to grab one), so I am now finally playing Horizon: Forbidden West. I am really enjoying it so far.

I have also dabbled a little into Stray and FFVII remake, but Horizon still hold my attention for now.

Nice!

What are you playing it on? I own it as well but framerate gave me a headache.

Loved the atmosphere, bright and colorful!

Edit I think I got it for the OG XBone. If that's the case inhave a Series S now, should check it out.

I assume you were stood there trying to be solemn while barely holding a Sony Playstation Five in both hands?

I'll also finish Stray, it's my mellow Zen game before going to bed.

Crash bandicoot on Ps4
I must be mental.
It's infuriating, you never feel entirely in control, it's full of cheap moments, Crash is neither lovable nor despisable to warrant any emotion towards him either way.
How I finished it on PlayStation all those years ago, I'll never know.
I sat there, telling myself over and over "Why am I playing this when I have the sublime Donkey Kong Tropical freeze sitting in my backlog to play?!"
I died by colliding with an enemy owing to the awful collision detection again and promptly deleted it.

Just finished guardians of the galaxy. Surprised at how good it actually turned out to be. Enjoyed all the banter and the game play was quite enjoyable.

Then I tried avengers...and uhhh... After 3-4 Hours I've decided to delete and move on to little nightmare.

I've been working my way through GTA 3 on the definitive collection, trying to 100% the game and get the platinum trophy. was actually kind of enjoying it in a zen way, even though it's tedious

then I got to the 2nd island after completing the police, ambulance, firefighter, and taxi shit, getting all the hidden jumps and packages, and completing all the side missions in portland, and I realized I'm going to run into the infamous "purple nines" glitch that SOMEHOW STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED IN THIS 20 YEAR OLD GAME. this will make a 100% run impossible unless I restart. so, fuck it. i'm not starting over.
