on a side note:

Im more pumped for the show now after finding out Barrie Gower is doing the Prosthetics for the infected.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS CGI

Fdl_stOXEAAEZqZ

He did Vecna in Stranger Things S4, amongst others.

Best in the biz right now.

Yeah it looks like cg, maybe it's because of the movement blur.

TLOU is gonna be massive next year. I'm sure Sony is gonna bet on it hard.
Would be smart to release TLOU Part 1 on PC right before the show comes out, then release "TLOU Online" right after the end of the season.

You know they are going to have little ad excerpts for "Factions" like they do for HotD and their mobile dragon game.

For the last time:

You don't cast based on looks. You cast based on acting ability.

If someone looks exactly like Ellie but is some generic, shit ass child actor (as most kids are) then she's NOT getting the job.

Christ, gamers. :messenger_pensive:
This and people don't even realize the person that voiced and acted as 14 year old Ellie was 30 when she played as Ellie.

though first impressions of the actress who plays ellie is bad, im willing to give her a chance because we have barely even seen her speak yet. she may even grow on us as ellie, if her acting is on point. so lets wait and see.

But it aint. :messenger_sunglasses:

I thought Vecna from Stranger Things S4 was CG too until I realized it was all Barrie Gower magic

Why does everyone keep saying that the Ellie girl is a good actress? from the little thing she did in GoT? that's all?

The trailer sends a lot of mixed messages. On one hand, Pascal fits perfectly, HBO is usually solid, and it feels like a setting and story you should be able to pull off in a TV show. On the other hand, a lot of weak casting, and a feeling that it's only made to cash in.

A lot of producers like to make game movies/tv shows because they already have a pre-built audience with all the gamers. The Halo and Witcher tv shows only exist to cash in on the audience, hopefully, this isn't the same and they actually have a story to tell.

don't know why, but, while i'd likely be interested in a game based on a book or a movie or a series i liked, i'm completely uninterested in either books or movies or series based on games i like...

it's a mystery...

(i do admit to enjoying the mila j resident evil sextology, but only because it's so completely off the rails)

It's from the guy who made Chernobyl so it will probably be pretty good. Chernobyl is 10/10 in my book.
Before he wrote Chernobyl, he wrong Hangover 3 and The Huntsman, which are disasters.

It's more important to look at the producers and directors, which are some big hitters. HBO is clearly putting a lot of top talent on this.

But everything can look good in a trailer.

Optimistic. If this can’t work, shut down all game adaptations forever. This level of talent + HBO is the only reason I’m giving it a chance.

Amazing trailer, will binge day 1 (if all the episodes are available)

1. If the person that literally created those characters doesn't give a shit, stop crying over the picks, I've seen zero evidence that Joel's race ever played any major factor in that series, its interchangeable if the creator of that series is on board.

2.The show doesn't even need to look 100% like the game or even be 1.1 exactly like the events of the game to be some hit.

The fucking deep naive lolz of those who really, really thought their tears was going to some how stop this show. The game moved over 20 million units...folks, that fucking peanuts to shows, this shit might end up getting 80 to 100 million views and those that become fans of this show, will know the show before the game.

Proof?

Walking Dead.

No matter how many neck beard man children cried about, oh this person died at this part, this was suppose to happen like this, guess what? That show got more views then that comic did sales and the default fanbase is the show, not the comic. 98% of The Walking Dead fans I know, never read the comics, don't read comics, don't give a shit. None of that matters as much as some of you keep trying to force.

Its a none issue.

Looks good. I'll watch season 1 and likely enjoy it, and then wonder why they never made a season 2...just like the game. I simply cannot believe their hasn't been a Last of Us 2...*shrug*

Looks promising.

I can't imagine it'll be a beat-for-beat retelling of the events from the game. Considering that a 1:1 remake will have released less than a year prior to this premiering.
I'd imagine there will be a few narrative changes in the adaptation, possibly to better suit the pacing of a show than that of a video game.

That's not Ellie. That looks like some old hag in a small body. Hard pass. Go fuck yourselves whoever was responsible for the casting. if I was the guy who was making the final decision on the casting and that's the actor they presented me as a choice for Ellie, I would cuss them out and fire them on the spot. Idiots.

It's more than a little reductive to be just writing this off as just another Walking Dead zombie show the same it would just another hero, sports, horror, jrpg, etc. Of course there's similar elements present but it has enough of it's own identity to stand on it's own.

Casting wise, as usual, I'll hold judgements till when I can watch the thing. Some people seem like a weird casting choice that make the role their own. Some seem fantastic only to fall flat. I'm fine with changing races of people, just so long as it's fine both ways. It's either fine for all or good for none.

The show itself looks fucking great. It almost instantly hit me in the feels far, far more than I was expecting from the trailer. They did a great job going off the small bit they've seen. Hope the final product is as good.

I honestly can't wait to see how this show does or doesn't deviate from the plot of the second game. Whether the show changes it or not, it's going to lead to some hilarious drama either way.

I think Bella Ramsey will do fine but Ashley Johnsons performance and voice is so iconic now that it’s gonna take a lot to match her.
I think we’ll have to look how people who never played the games recieve the show to get a sense of wether they did a good job with the show overall because I can already sense how most players reaction will be:
-That’s not my Ellie.

It’s like movie adaptions of books, most people who read the books first will consider the book superior. I think this show will be one of the first times that’ll be said about a game adaptation despite the adaption being good in it’s own right, unlike most film/show adaptions of video games.

To a point, Doug Cockle as Geralt is a good example of the opposite, to where people read the Witcher in his voice, Henry Cavill has even said that his voice for Geralt is based on the games as well

This. Pretty much this. I expect more from an HBO show. Some actors look like they're cosplaying to me.

I will still give it a shot. Hopefully seeing everything in action improves it.
I hate to say it but its Bella Ramsey. She does not look like Ellie.

This is way more unnecessary than the remake that we got, the game already tells it's story extremely well. If you are not into game you could just watch it on youtube.

With that said, it will probably be a huge success, so it's a smart cash in.
