Modern Warfare 2022 Beta Discussion Thread

The graphics and attention to detail to textures is amazing, but the lack of destruction and physics lets this game down imo. Definitely stealing Battlefields thunder though regarding everything else.

Destruction physics would be the next logical step in warzone and the bigger modes, would be awesome. In 6v6 not so much

The beta has been extended for 2 hours until 8pm U.K. time, so if anyone fancies another 90 or so minutes as of now it’s still live.

I popped cod MW19 up again for some fun.

Had fun for a few hours, now I'm struggling to even get a Predator missile because matches are so hard thanks to sbmm.

I think I'm done with cod.

Don't think that solely down to SBMM, the majority of the player base moves every year. With 2019 i'd expect you'll just have a fairly large but hardcore following left playing by now. Not saying the MM is good in these games recently but point stands.

I tried getting back into Halo via MCC recently for example and just got absolutely creamed for a couple of hours.

Thing is, I rocked my first matches. Went whipping with streaks and so on.

Then sbmm found my rating and only puts me in people near that or above.

I lose literally every match, I can barely get a killstreaks.

I remember the same before I stopped. I know it's like that, because people cuss at the game for it.

I can dominate fine in cod 4mw and cod wwii, but I get my ass handed by sweaty Pro players on MW19.

There's plenty of destruction, even if it's only surface level. Wall textures change based on bullet impacts or explosions, lots of destructible objects, glass etc. Rooms, especially around capture points look totally rekt towards the end of a game. It's pretty visceral.

Great beta shit was fun with a group. Infinity ward just has to fix the disconnect issues when entering another game for party members. Good stuff

Shatterline lets you push dumpsters and cars around giving you new places to jump, it's inoffensive and effective way of changing up the map a little, it's a shame they didn't have it in this COD, maybe next year's.

Yet it's nothing to the old BF games that had real destruction that made appreciable differences to gameplay.

Absolutely. It's my only major grip this year( it was the same in CW not sure about Vanguard as i skipped it). I don't know why the MM is so aggressive in this it can't be player retention because if anything it makes me turn the game off they way it works. Surely they should have invisible "brackets" that your kept in and say if you go +KDA for 10 straight games you move up but it seems to swing wildly one way or the other for me. Shits bad hopefully they sort it out come launch but i doubt it.

Thats cool.

Another way to change a map is to have a night version (or an evening variation). Just changing the visibility makes maps play totally different. You dont even have to change the structure of the map. I guess changing the colour palette and lighting are super hard?

In World at War, Makin day and night maps play totally different. In night maps, people are willing to walk slow in the water more to get around as it's hard to see people, but in the day hardly anyone takes a dip because youre a sitting duck.

I liked the beta the only change that I hope they make is to adjust the TTK and the Menu UI for getting into games. The TTK is too fast but I won't hate the game if they don't adjust it, will just have to get use to it. The menu ui though to get into a game and stuff is just horrendous, like who thought that was good at all?

I had exactly the same experience. The SBMM punished me so hard, that I could not even get a UAV killstreak. Call of Duty once was about absurd killstreaks. I remember when I once got a chopper gunner in Black Ops 1 and mowed down dozens of enemies. That was something, that you remember. I don't think I would ever be able to get past a 6 or 7 kill killstreak in MW2 though, it's way too hard for me.

Funny thing is, I've made the same experience regarding Cod4 MW (2007) as you. I can boot up the remaster now and I will do much better then I ever did in MW2 (2022). Whatever they did with the match making, they need to get rid of it. I see so many oldschool cod fans turning their backs on the new system. This can't be healthy in the long run.

I definitely had fun with the beta but I'm still in the camp of waiting for a price drop. Got a feeling this one is going to be pretty divisive. Still kinda interested in Warzone 2 where you can hear the footsteps from the other side of the map.

Listening to the community isn't that hard IW

Specially about basic, core cod features that have existed forever now. This is a disgrace of the MW2 name, doesn't hold a candle to the original game.

2 years for a good game now with bo5. The worst game they picked for a 2 year cycle

after playing a bit of MW1 again I have to say that it's astonishing how much worse MW2 is in literally every conceivable way.

they even managed to make the first CoD with bad controller aiming...
it's so much worse...

I hope we can download the HD texture packs because on demand texture streaming will cause stutter in MP

If load outs are back they need to make sure they don’t show up till later in the match to make looting necessary
I'd like a change up to the load out system for sure, maybe make it an event where they just drop 2 or 3 into the map and everyone has to fight over them or something.

Don’t hate that idea right now a loadout drops before before the first circle even closes

I've not played in a while but yeah if they are gonna have load outs again agreed they need to do something different. I liked the idea of just buying weapons from buy stations but that brings its own issues as well.

Either way looking forward to a fresh start, it was a shit show once the had 3 games worth of weapons floating about.

I think this feels way better than 2019 call of duty. I was merking people on the controller with some adjustments in the settings

MW2 has very intrusive and unavoidable aim acceleration, this makes fast high level/precision plays almost impossible.

so no, it feels worse and you can't do anything about it. it is the worst Call of Duty ever felt on a controller since I first played CoD on console back when CoD 4 came out on 360.

may I ask what sensitivity you are using?

Yes sir I didn't put the sensitivity too high I just turned it up to 7 for both horizontal and vertical. Yeah I played call of duty 4 as well. It's probably just me but I enjoyed how they handled it the new one. Shit was fun

yeah 7 would be too slow for me.

the issue is aim acceleration literally prevents you from doing fast precise moves.

imagine Aim Acceleration being like training wheels on a bike for kids. the are there so that the child can ride a bike, without them it would fall lat on its face.
similarly Aim Acceleration is a feature to help people that can't use a stick properly from doing fast (for them) uncontrollable motions.

BUT if you ride a bike and you want to go fast, take corners at high speed and be agile and just fast in general, training wheels on a bike will hinder you in being able to do that.
again similarly with Aim Acceleration, it keeps people that are good on sticks from doing fast, millisecond to millisecond adjustments and fast flicks, because it makes it so your max turn speed isn't reached by slamming the stick to the side, but instead it slowly accelerates to its max peed AFTER you hit the edge of the stick

Alright cool I get what your saying your last sentence sums it up. Shit well IW better get on that than

I quite enjoyed the MW2 beta but in the last year I haven't played much MW19 as I've sunk probably 100s of hours into that multiplayer, and I booted it up again today, hadn't probably played in quite a few months and I realised how much better it looks. Not graphically per say but the UI, colour palette, the scoreboard, the unlock/reward screens and animations etc. It all looks cleaner, sharper and more modern than the MW2 beta. Reflecting on the beta, it looks more like a free to play as far as presentation/design. I know gameplay has somewhat improved but I think they have taken a big step back in overall design, someone has fucked that up big time! And I swear the beta maps don't graphically look much better and in some cases worse and more basic than some of the MW19 maps. It feels like a lazy sequel.

I no longer play games with SBMM.
I been playing Rust for 10+ years the most hardcore game ever made. Yet it does not have SBMM which means I play with a wide range of skilled players.
MW2 in 2022 is a decent fps.
I played PC games in early 2000s and fps games like CoD and Battlefield feel 20 years more advanced than current fps games. Like we are going backwards in video games.

I played beta and solo sbmm sucks. I played most of beta with top tier players and we won 50/50 dominion games played. It was too easy and I think SBMM couldn't find players at our level as a group. Or SBMM was off. A couple friends in beta were complaining that the matches were too boring and we rolled over everyone with ease. I play most CoDs solo though and SBMM is ussually felt.
