The World has entered The Latter Age Of The Dharma. Society is crumbling. War has spread throughout the country. Disease and famine have killed thousands, and demons walk the very earth itself. You are an Ashigaru, a footsoldier in the service of Lord Takeda Nobumitsu. Deceived by a powerful demon king, your lord led his army into an ambush. All perished except for you. Against your wishes your lord sacrificed his life to aid your escape from the battle. You have made a vow to track down the demon who betrayed your lord and end it's life. You take what could possibly be your final breaths on this mortal plane, and prepare yourself to enter… The Labyrinth Of the Demon King

Coming to PC and consoles in 2023.

I appreciate the effort. They really nailed the old school look.
Actually watching the trailer more. I think I would want this.

Neato. I never got to play any of the King's Field series, dunno how I missed them really.
I'd love for Fromsoft to revisit it, but give me Armored Core first.

I can understand why 8/16 bit pixel graphics has survived and is still relevant in modern games but this..? I suppose some people feel nostalgic but this kind of 3D graphics has aged horribly unlike the pixel graphics. I thought PS1/N64 games looked like ass even when they were new. Incredibly unappealing.

And this just went way over your head.

lol agreed.

I like the concept of some de-make, like if they made a game back in the day using those ideas. With 3D its so hard to do cause we are still in 3D, with sprites I think many people get it, but with 3D people tend to be put off by it, but...I get it. Its suppose to have that feel, direction and vibe of those times and I think its a great fucking idea. I'm more hype to see what this is, then if it looked like Scorn or the other horrors coming out, looking amazing in 3D with new hardware is a given, but this style is a surprise and I'm more interested to see where this goes.

Actually millenials were the original target audience for kings field re and sh. So good job?
Not sure I agree with that entirely. Kings field came out in 94 (I think) so that would eliminate nearly all the millennials.

not that it really matters of course. I suspect it wasn’t aimed at any particular group

Jump to conclusions to invalidate my point. That's a bold strategy cotton, let's see if it pays off

Not very well, cotton. Not very well.

And that post was very likely before your post.
You made the point clear.
You only like modern graphics or at the very least, newer graphics.
Personally, I like the look, though I hope there's a 60fps option for pc.
Otherwise, like yourself, I'll probably skip this.

I obviously didn't make it clear, it has nothing all to do with 'newer' graphics, though ive no idea where we draw the line? Ps1 and n64 generation were fucking ugly and still are. Great games but shit graphics.

It was the first generation of proper 3d so I can't blame them for being ugly.

Don't talk smack to me unless it was a mark 1

You'll hate me. It was a master system convertor for a Mega Drive. One of the coolest bits of gaming ever invented.

I'm 40 and played it in 1996 or 1997. I've been called a millennial for 22 years or so

Yeah, I don’t think it was aimed at 10 year olds. Maybe I’m wrong though
Fall of 1996 I begged my mom to get me resident evil. I remember being too scared to get passed the dogs jumping through the windows scene. Ended up with suikoden instead as a trade in. The store was super nice about it so it must have happened to some other kids too!

At least I was brave enough to withstand the castlevania 2 Nintendo Power cover. I remember thinking about all the parents who complained about that and thanking mother Gaia my mom wasn't a prude like that.

"If we call it retro it can look like ass and enthusiasts will buy it day one!"
Nah, man. It’s about capturing a very specific style and mood from the past. Nothing wrong with that. The graphic limitations of the time became an artstyle and these guys are working with that.

Of course they’re also on a shoe string budget but why not use that to hit a very specific moment in videogame history and let us be all nostalgic and enjoy it. Use the limitation as a platform to elevate the game.

It might be total shit, sure. But the trailer works.

Sufficiently spooky atmosphere, but the overt copying of SH3 and SH4 trailer tropes is a bit too much.

Even YouTube seems to have identified the game as Silent Hill, lol
