They barely can anymore, hence most cases come with some sort of GPU support (some of the new 4xxx series cards will come with them as well).

Can't remember which video it was on youtube but there was mention about GPU support brackets for the 4090 series so they don't put too much strain on the motherboard.

First time I heard of such a thing tbh.
