if the 4090 was a person
nah she’s pretty small tbh.

4090 is a Lizzo sized bitch

Next year, I'll see how some of those next gen only titles do on those cards and make my choice on a new build. Not much coming out that I really care to go beyond a 3080 or 4080 but.....we'll see.

I wish I could I could change 1 or 2 components, but we've put off a build for some time lol I'm sure the 4090 is a beast card, but we don't got enough next gen titles to really test it for me to care atm. It seems like its a massive price to pay for 200 fps on some last gen games or some shit lol So I need it to be a bit relevant to what I'm doing as an artist/designer to see if its worth the extra money, bigger PSU, noise etc.

That's just "let's make it bigger for marketing".
Both cards are 450w and pcb is way smaller than the card
TUF 3090 is on the smaller end of the spectrum in regards to other 3090s with better heatsinks. The FE 3090 is longer then the FE 4090. The size of the 4090 has been over exaggerated, its not that big.

I upgraded from a 2080Ti to a 3080 recently and I've gotta say. When I got the former I thought it was insanely huge. But the 3080 is unbelievable. It's a brick. It's not really an issue in practical terms as long as you have some way of holding it up so the board doesn't flex and kill your memory chips, but it's not a great trend. It feels like they're covering for reduced efficiency gains with fatter and hungrier cards, and there's only so far that can go before we come to terms with the fact that progress isn't what it once was.

if both supposedly draw the same power then this size difference doesn't really make any sense lol.

I kinda doubt the 4090 will actually stick to that 450w and will most likely spike like crazy

If size matters, then it means my gf will always play with the GPU and never with me.
*cries in micro technology*
So it is safe to say that you can't ram your dick in her because it's micron?

few MR are gonna get this one

So now the people that buy one just have to wait 10 years before games catch up to the point where they actually need a GPU that powerful

This.

I don't know if this makes sense for gaming and I've calmed my ass down on looking to get one, same with the 3090.

I think I'll be more then fine with 3070 or 3080 and will just look for them used or something. I just don't see what I'd need with a 4090 at such a wild price point. 1 card alone is the cost of a whole build lol

Nvidia demo on Cyberpunk 2077 showed that with DLSS activated, The 4090 give 3x more fps for less power consumption than a 3090TI.
People mocking this card all day long may actually end up eating their hat.

That 3 times performance is by using DLSS 3, which is just interpolation with a bit of ML.
So it has issues with latency and artifacts. Not a real comparison there.
More realistic benchmarks, place the 4090 as being 60% faster than a 3090Ti.

sigh...errrr I don't think people mocking the card are doubting it can do all that, merely whats the point? They are more so just making fun of the size with funny memes, but I don't see that as doubting it can do that.

I'd say my point is more, who the fuck cares? Theses are last gen games and at this price, I don't even think getting performance is even worth it, thats like telling us this shit can get 1000 frames on AC1 from 2007.

Impressive, but...I don't know how many really are looking to pay such a crazy amount for such a massive card, just to play some last gen games a little better lol

Its a no from me dogg lol

I might just get a 3070 or 3080 and ride out the whole gen with that.

I'm sure the 5 people that have a case big enough to fit it in and $1,800 spare to upgrade will be laughing all the way to their local mountain dew stockist at their superior power

Im not giving up my ITX case which currently houses a 3080 just fine. So lets see when the 5XXX series is out and I will choose a GPU based on size and power draw (crazy to even say that).

Not sure why case you have, but there are ITX cases where this card fits:

I'm not an expert in this field, but I'd sort of disagree with that notion notion until we see some actual analysis surfacing. Interpolation as we all know has a bad reputation stemming from interpolation on TVs with painfully slow processing speed compared to a GPU. But it should be quite good on a fast GPU with ML, and frames should be clean enough. I'm pretty sure I saw some DLSS3 numbers on latency from Nvidia already, no? Was it that bad?

The power consumption too.

It's like Nvidia doesn't exist in the same world as ours.
It's not like AMD or intel would focus on smaller and or more efficient parts. More fps, better effects etc. just needs more power. So I am not one bit surprised that high end get's huge. But everyone is just aiming sky high, while GTX1060 and 1650 were/are popular cards, actually also already quite big, but that is where no one seems to be developing much for. Nvidia skipped a possible 2650 so far and a 3640 also does not come soon (if at all?). Intel kind of launched the A380 (310) already but now worldwide, it is absent? Maybe RDNA will have refreshes of entry level cards immediately. Just the 1650 in 4nm without any other changes would be a huge win, nvidias entry level is still 12nm after all. Unless we act like 3050 is already bare minimum we except going forward. There is a gap in the market between okayish performance of Vega7 in APUs and entry level cards, especially for their prices. A decent upgrade from an iGPU should not multiply my costs, start at 100. But for 100 you get around Vega performance.

It was something like there was some new tech that reduces latency for DLSS 2 and while DLSS 3 added some latency again, in the end it did not get worse. So if you deactivate DLSS3 and give up its extra frames, at least DLSS2 works better than before.

I'm impressed with the non dlss average fps compared to a 3090ti.

Pretty much twice as fast is okay by me.

The 4090 founders edition is easily the best looking card as it doesn't look like it's made for children.

And when I rip the Heatsinks off it and slap a water block on it, itll be super tiny and fit just fine in my its case. The actual pcb is pretty tiny.

aorus and gigabyte sucks in general. But what the fuck is this shit ?

I have o11 air mini and I have 35cm clearance. But there is no way in hell there is a mid tower that can fit a ps5 inside

Ι expect the 4060 to be as power hungry as a current 3070 or something. Since the GTX 960, the "60" series is becoming more power hungry and more expensive while the performance jumps remain the same.

I agree. I mean yeah it’s a powerful card but what is the point ?

I said it before in a thread while ago. Software advancement is not even close to the hardware level. Even nvidia was like there are no games let’s talk to some devs to add more ray tracing to one or 2 games.

By the time we actually get a real few next Gen games with unreal 5 ( proper unreal 5 not fortnight ), this 4090 will obsolete.

I am still interested in 4090 and I want to buy one. I am pretty sure the FE will be sold out. Which is the one I want. But I am no way going to pay scalping price. I am debating if I should pay retail price even lol
