Xbox Series XYTrying to think what they will name the mid-gen Xbox Series X
why notThere was a Sony patent for putting 2 GPUs together, so doubling the PS5. They'd probably have to almost double the price too...
But like others are saying :
The idea of a console with a >$500 price tag frankly defeats the purpose of making a console to begin with. Hopefully that patent is for some 10th gen console and not this pro stuff because that sounds like hell to afford. There was a Sony patent for putting 2 GPUs together, so doubling the PS5. So if it meant 60fps for the rest of the gen, you wouldnt be interested?.There was a Sony patent for putting 2 GPUs together, so doubling the PS5. They'd probably have to almost double the price too...
But like others are saying :
If we consider the difference between the xbox one and the xbox one x, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Microsoft will redesign their console internals to better compete (for those unaware, the x1x is a 'next gen' console under the hood and completely different from the og x1 architecture.)
It is too weak. Ps4 wasn't powerful enough for vr, even with the breakout box and the pro version. While the series S is more powerful than a ps4pro, obviously, it doesn't have the grunt to match high end PC headsets.
Xbox series VR or whatever it will be called, will be the best place to play VR games. And I for one would love to see Halo VR.
Of course it is too weak. They can support the PS4 too. You just get middling results, as we've seen all fucking gen.
Series S is going to hold Xbox games back. All gen long.
the Series S has less GPU power than the One X i'm pretty sure. Less powerful than the GTX 1060 possiblyminimum spec for Half Life Alyx is a GTX1060, a card with less GPU power than the Xbox One X
this means the Series S should easily be powerful enough to handly any VR game at the level of Half Life Alyx, with console optimisations even more than that
the Series S has less GPU power than the One X i'm pretty sure. Less powerful than the GTX 1060 possibly
4 years after release depending on how long the gen is it might be fine.I'm just going to say it. Too soon. I would be ok with a 2026 refresh, but a 2024 one is possibly too soon.
Exactly. Absolutely no reason for this.imagine launching updated consoles of consoles you barely have out now. that are still cross gen releasing games.
Yes, no, yes and yes.Excuse me, sir:
There are many more examples and on other platforms aswell.
the Series S is basically on par with the GTX1060.
the One X was between 1060 and 1070
The Series S can reach GTX1660 (Super) performance
But that doesn't necessarily mean an even higher end SKU. It could be something similar to the Xbox One S: Same system as Series X but a redesign. I seriously doubt Microsoft would really want to have three different SKU's on the market, on top of Cloud streaming.Phil confirmed like a year ago that they have 'more consoles in development'.
Mid gen machines will happen.
How is this too soon? PS4 Pro released in November of 2016 which is 3 years after its launch in November of 2013. PS5 released in November 2020 and next year in November 2023 will be 3 years. Probably will be November 2024 though due to COVID. Time-frame wise it's exactly same or longer lol. Xbox One X came out a year later in November 2017.Ah come on already? I feel like I've played 1 game from this generation. I have absolutely no money left for such upgrades.
Just skip it. I did last time.Hate these mid gen refresh. Nex gen or gtfo.
It was nice knowing you bud.Microsoft midgen refresh will be a VR variant.
I'll bet my account in it.
Xbox series xxxTrying to think what they will name the mid-gen Xbox Series X
I'm not sure that would require new devkits but I don't think we will see midgens any time soon.Who wants to bet its actually the slim models which have slightly different clocks and SSD sizes.
Rumor is rtx4050 low end card will boost 20tf power. Both are roughly 10 TF consoles with very limited RT capabilities and no AI based upscaling.
Top of the line PC card is close to 100 TF (over 100 TF when overclocked) with amazing RT capabilities and powerful frame generating upscaling. The gap between PC cards and consoles is getting very wide already.
And these consoles are basically low end PC's, they don't have any tricks in the sleeves and nothing special under the hood to give.
I agree I think thats too far apartit would be dumb to launch mid-gen consoles on 24/25 , they should launch ps6 or the next xbox by then
Is that a popular search term yet on pornhub?Xbox series xxx

Are those statements from that indivdual developer?I wonder how the naughty dog employee squares his tweet with this?

Yes, but this time, as owner of both current gen consoles, I don't feel like i got anything out of them. I could still be using my old ps4 and xbox one x.How is this too soon? There's eventually a cutoff point with cross-gen. The other scenario (with the S) is here to stay. Are those statements from that indivdual developer?
Are you even remotely interested in a good faith discussion?
no
Framerates and IQ have been a major upgrade, IMO.Yes, but this time, as owner of both current gen consoles, I don't feel like i got anything out of them. I could still be using my old ps4 and xbox one x.
