It's incredibly common. Here is a shot of just a small amount of options available using Unreal 4/5 out of the box:

Chromatic aberration, spherical distortion, etc. are also out of the box checkmarks with tweakable sliders.

Ugh... Chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, basically everything I'm trying to get rid of in my glasses (myopia). Why do devs add this in games on purpose... We have a perfect image quality by nature in 3D, yet they ruin it by adding effects that other industries have been trying to get rid of. It will never make any sense to me.

Just image how much better NT games would be if they focused their resources on gameplay.

The only thing you hear about their games is good graphics. I don’t think I have ever heard any of their games actually having solid gameplay mechanics.

It’s like the priorities in their games are:

1. Graphics
2. Cut scenes
3. Audio and diologue

I'm just hoping this won't be a typical "Gamepass game", i.e. great to have on Gamepass but that's about it...I just ask that it's as good as the 1st game. Loved Senua's Sacrafice
