Erm, what, Digital Foundry are not covering this game because... they are taking a political stance, for what someone who wasn't even involved in the game or even created it, said?

If that is true then that is pathetic because a game should be judged on its own merits and free of any politics where are 100% not relevant to this game since it seems to be very pro-transgender anyway, offering you the freedom to create a male character with a female voice who is referred to as a witch and vice versa. Even the dialogue is gender-neutral, likely to avoid having to record multiple lines of dialogue with 'he', 'she' and 'they' but still comes across as a bit odd in my opinion. Thankfully, most of the time the game's dialogue is carefully written to avoid this so I have only come across it a couple of times. The first time I heard reference to 'they' in relation to my character though, I actually thought that Professor Fig was perhaps old and confused and just didn't realise my character was a boy! I mean it would sound that way to anyone like myself not brought up or educated in transgender politics.

From watching their videos in the past my impression is that they hate having to say anything that makes Playstation look bad. If they have to say a game looks better on Xbox or PC they it's almost like it's through gritted teeth.

Maybe I'm wrong and imagining it. Maybe they've changed. I don't watch a lot of their videos anymore so maybe they've shifted to Xbox but somehow I doubt it.

IGN has the exclusive coverage for the game so almost certainly NXG will be doing a perf analysis.
Only thing is he doesnt have access to as much hardware as DF, looking at perf analysis from other sources this game seems to be all over the place.
It would be nice to see a spectrum of hardware tested....PCGH and GameGPU have pretty in-depth analysis with every relevent GPU, but I havent seen many CPU tests.
Very single core happy so Intel guys should be eating well.

Also the PC version runs fine from what i have seen. Been watching benchmarkers and the game runs fine on solid hardware (saw a 1080 tested and it reched 1080p/60 and near max settings).
I even saw the game tested on a GT 1030, and it could manage 30fps at 720p and low settings. Sound bad sure but there are last gen games that the shitty GT 1030 couldnt hit 30fps no matter the settings.

At the end of the day. DF is losing steam. Between this and how mild they are at criticizing PC optimization depending on the studio behind the title I became less a d less of a fan.

Those guys never called out MS abysmal CPU usage on the PC version of halo infinite or how a hallway based game with 3 enemies on screen like God of war is a CPU hog on PC.

Only part of the game that runs fine on pc is the start, super smooth and no issues; performance goes to shit a bit further on and will tank for seemingly no logical reason.
Right now I'm standing still in the crossing wands dueling area and as long as I don't move the camera, performance great, start spinning the camera and fps tanks and hitches all over the place.

Cowardice means that you are afraid of something. Calling DF cowards for not wanting to touch this game with a 10 foot pole makes some assumptions.

• It assumes that blowback comes from only one direction. Which is clearly (looking at this thread) untrue. They will receive blowback regardless of whether they choose to cover the game or not cover the game. Their choice doesn't spare them any hate or criticism, so cowardice is likely not the most compelling argument to describe their actions.
• It assumes that DF is okay with promoting a product that will enrich a controversial creator. I myself have commented that I will not be buying the game because of ms. merry terfmas and it's possible that DF feels the same. It should be up to them to decide whether or not they want to support such a person.

This game has become a ridiculous litmus test. The tribalism at play with this game's release is nothing short of embarrassing. There's a whole other thread on gaf right now about someone getting harassed for covering the game and on this thread some people are calling for bans of Digital Foundry or proudly unsubscribing (thankfully not harassing ) because of someone not covering the game. I thought we didn't agree with bans here...This is a no win situation.

If you need to call it something, this refusal to address the game, I would say that cowardice is the wrong angle. DF analyzes game releases. This, if anything, would be unprofessional. But I wouldn't go that far. If some people on one side need to relax and be okay with someone supporting the game, then some people on the other side need to relax and be okay with someone NOT supporting the game.

It's just a stupid game. This is an irrelevant moment in time and not worth the aggravation.

Yeah thats fair i did notice ram usage was high, as high as 16gb usage with some set ups.
Vram usage seemed fine without RT (3gb to 8gb vram usage depending on resolution).

There have def been games this gen so far that have run worse on PC, hense why Steam users arent losing it with this game, like they do whenever a game has shitty optimization.

Early access though. We are still waiting on the day one patch. The game is unoptimizable but completely playable.
