Anyone else get comical amounts of 'rubber banding' on trying to leave town(s)?

Like sometimes there's a goddamn forcefield i just keep bouncing off, goes on for half a minute sometimes. Jesus.

Played for about 45 minutes and had a good time. Googled and learnt that progress doesn't carry over so have no real motivation to keep on going.

Love how gritty it feels compared to D3. Looks great too when playing, but the ingame cutscenes look like garbage because clearly their engine wasn't made with close up character models in mind.

Also zero queue on PS5, I was in immediately.
Same for me, a good hour or so and I know I like it enough to buy but don't wanna waste more time on a Beta that I cannot follow up on when the full game is out

And same for me on PS5, straight in no queue at all

That's just the server lagging while it transfers you from town to the world. Classic Diablo lag too, you get that also in D2 and D3 for the same reason.
 
Geezus, yeah i guess that's it. Don't doubt that at all but i dont recall anything remotely like that in D2 and D3 which i play a ton of.
Well I mean like the early years of D2 and the early days of D3.

Remember how way back in 2001 you would try to run out of town in D2 and you would be stopped by the edge of the world, because you lagged or dropped connection to the server and so the world couldn't be loaded in? Good times.

I thought Sorcerer was OP but so far Necro is on a whole other level. Corpse explosion is great at taking out the trash.

Druid is fun too. At this point not sure what my main will be on release. Good stuff.

Played through on sorc, higher difficulty. Was never remotely in danger once. Mechanically not very interesting, story is okay but style over substance, lacking depth. Not going to ever do the endgame loot grind since that’s just dopamine slavery, so it’s all about the core experience and story, but lukewarm on both.

Level 25. Every time I do the world boss there's a bunch of under leveled idiots (like level 15) who have no idea what they're doing and do fuck all damage.
Sorry friend, but they shouldn't have done the world boss on Saturday if they actually wanted people to be level cap for it. Most people weren't in the buy a chicken sandwich beta last week.

Please don't be mad if you see me at some low level trying to do it because I just want the chance to see it during this beta which is being progress wiped anyways.

Agreed. I love the art direction, I love the animations and models - but man it feels so... limp? Weak? I want to feel like I am getting stronger. Not feel like I am a god from level 1. Sure there will be far more difficult choices later on, but they are tied behind completing major parts of the story. Just let me struggle at the outset if I want to struggle from the outset.

Aside from my own Druid build I’ve seen some really slick ones come out on YouTube today .

Barbarian is truly the only shit class in beta. Which sucks because it’s what I play in all Diablo games my first time all the way through.

Has anyone found a build that is on par with rogue Necro sorc on Barb? It seems fine at mob clear but bosses completely ruin it.

Nah. Blizzard since D3 has treated the pc experience and UI as second fiddle .

D2R , Immortal, and 4 all had controllers in mind way more. Immortal of course touch controls the most.

D2R in a pad is superb with how easily you can map abilities and use them without any cumbersome work.

Diablo 4 you can take one look at the UI and play for 5 minute to see how it was made for pad.

Both options work just fine but to think KB&M is superior generally means you didn’t try both or just never wanted to play on pad to begin with.

I am also in the kb/m camp. Didn't enjoy controller but it's very playable with one.

Also for people going for the more expensive edition to play the game 4 days early, keep in mind you may have just volunteered yourself to stress test the servers and iron out any issues before it launches properly. I dunno, I feel like given how these online launches many people will feel let down by the premium editions as it's almost guaranteed to be a rocky launch.

With the tornado stuff i can clear bosses fast .
 
I'm in the Diablo III hater camp, but I'm kind of enjoying Diablo IV so far to my surprise. Played Sorceress to 22 or so and enjoyed that well enough, then trying out the Rogue and I'm around 13 or so and I like it just as much or more. May have to purchase it after all.

I do have some complaints, like the forced multiplayer aspect, etc, but eh, nothing major at the moment.

It plays reasonably well on controller but it will never be as good as keyboard and mouse when it comes to targeting specific mobs and inventory management.

Just let me struggle at the outset if I want to struggle from the outset.
Well you could self impose challenges on yourself like make a sub optimal build, use blues only, naked run, etc.

I actually legit enjoy randomly running into players and doing a quest objective or a quick world event with them before we go our separate ways. It makes the world feel alive in the way Destiny does. With the large player base of a Diablo game, it will make exploring and questing in the open world much more fun.

How does casting hydra, blizzard, meteor, teleport, etc work well with a controller? How would you cast it in a specific place?

Lol it's fine. I worded my response wrong. I meant to say the people who are like level 15 and just run away and do basically nothing while trying to freeload the boss for loot.

Each character should have had their own starting area, then you go to the winter area (Fractured Peaks). Whereas the goal for the starting area(s) per character would be to gather materials to give to a vendor (a Blacksmith and Tailor) to make winter gear for the journey to Fractures Peaks. This would of course showcase the hunting for materials mechanic, i.e ores, fauna, different forms of transversal, combat, stealth (if added) etc. By throwing all the characters in Fractured Peaks with paltry backstory to explain WHY they are there, seems a bit lacking. As if something is missing. I at least wanted to be able to gather wood, food, ores, and hunt to survive a few days in the cave from the horrible blizzard (no pun intended).

Seems there's too much winter-y gameplay at the moment. Another idea would be the game switch from character to character as the introduction pans out. Different environments per each character/their home towns. Maybe the Necro lives is a bog or terrible swamp. The Barbarian in an arid plain full of large abominations, twisting and ominous rock formations, mud pits and hot springs. The Wizard, an old city at war with itself; a trading hub as well. Libraires of old, the fine comforts sold by vendors, cats upon windowsills in the summer night. The Druid in an Highlands area near an ancient forest. Rolling hills and crackling thunderstorms with overflowing rivers. The storms giving way to sunshine piercing through a fauna-filled forest. These areas for each character showcasing a short mission(s) (acquiring proper gear) that lead to the Fractures Peaks. Also, variations in colors. I find the game stagnant right now in this introduction; too much winter greys.

If I have to purposefully gimp myself, then it isn't good design.

Your ideas are interesting, but it highlights how risk-averse and formulaic D4 is. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Diablo game for casual mass market appeal, but the originals were not casual games at all.

Unfortunately there’s no satisfaction to be had in winning here. There are big red telegraph indicators on the floor to tell you where you shouldn’t stand, slow moving projectiles that do very little damage, and a constant stream of heal pots even if you fail basic awareness of these mechanics.

D1 and D2 could be brutal. Getting a powerful drop was a big deal because the default was barely scraping by each encounter, if at all. You’d kill stuff hoping for a good drop, or scrounge your pennies and hope for a good random item in the shop. Every new ability or spell massively changed your power curve and gave you a new lease on life.

This is honestly just a turn your brain off ez loot treadmill in its current form.
 
There's a skill that has 12% chance to create corpses as you do damage once it's 3/3. It's like infinite corpse exploding, don't even need a core skill now

It's even 24% against bosses

Circles on the ground that you aren't supposed to stand in are a cancer on gaming. I played necro at first and it was just brain dead easy. Then tried rogue and it was a little better but only in the since of I have to click around to dodge shit and not stand in shit more. Have not felt like I wished I had better or cared about the gear at all, if it has a green number I just equip it.

Try playing with a Barb and don't twink yourself with drops from one of the OP classes like Sorc and Necro if you want a challenge.
 
Yep, the world boss is retarded for melees. You spend almost all your time chasing it around instead of hitting it. Also it turns out that your dodge skill has no invincibility frames, making it essentially worthless for dodging the big boss attacks.

I guess I should be happy that I was randomly placed with a ton of Level 25's who were mostly Necros and Sorcs. It was just me and some Druid who were actually melees in the fight, so the ranged classes killed it pretty easily for us.
