I finished it, no problem. Let me tell you which Zelda I can't finish, and that's Skyward Sword. That game drains my real-life health as I play.

No, I bought it day 1 and have never been able to finish or get close to finishing this game.

I've 100%'d a number of the Zelda games and this is not one I can do. It's about as interesting as watching paint dry. Weapons breaking was the killer for me. I probably could have slogged through the game otherwise, but that was just too much for me.

Not even bothering with Tears of the Kingdom. It's more of the same. For collection purposes I'll buy it when a price drop occurs in some distant future.

Tried it a few times, but it never clicked, but I bit the bullet and played it to completion just recently using CEMU, spent almost 138h on it. Mopped up most of the quest, except for the DLC costume stuff as I couldn't be bothered looking up solutions and the in-game quest log isn't helpful, found most of the koroks too.
I really enjoyed the climbing aspect and hardly ever used a mount, not too bothered by the weapon durability mechanic and it was not a sword deal breaker for me. If I have to complain about something? Not a fan of the ancient Asimovian technological magic angle and it seems like TotK will double down on it.

Really got my hypothetical money's worth.

Yes, Master mode with DLC and fully upgraded master sword. I'll cry when it breaks in tears, making the title super meta.

No... I got the fully charged Master Sword from the DLC (which admittedly was pretty fun) and did the 4 stupid rock animals of recycled content. I then was doing all the shrines and got bored and quit.

It's an Ubisoft game, but because it's got Zelda slapped on it 11/10 not enough water IGN for some reason, its a solid game but its hardly generation defining (unless you mean for the Wii U which is what it was designed for)

I’ve started it about 3-4 times and each time barely make it past getting the glider. I’m there again now. My issue is that there is such a vast area but there isn’t much in it and it takes forever to get around. Maybe that changes eventually. I assume horse travel is quicker, but the only thing that keeps me coming back is the desire to see if it gets better. Hopefully it does and this time I can get there.

Eh, part of the fun is just exploring the terrain. Even if you climb a mountain or discover an out of sight area and don't find something to do or collect, you should still be having fun exploring and traversing the terrain. If not, it's probably not for you.

That being said, I don't remember having this problem. If iI saw an area that looked interesting or unique, I remember almost always finding a collectible or something to find/do in that area.

Most mounts are faster. I never used them much personally, the controls feel kind of ‘floaty’ to me. Was hoping they’d be improved in TotK but from the latest footage it looks the same..

Once you complete more shrines etc. you get a lot of fast travel points though. And once you get more abilities the glider becomes a lot more useful imo. I’d go for the bird Divine Beast first in your case.

Easily my favorite Zelda of all time, despite the god awful voice acting and story. Just so fun to play. Yeah I beat it twice, thinking about a third.

So you barely make it past the tutorial area. I get that the full map can be overwhelming and seem "empty" yet it's anything but. Sure there is a lot of ground to cover but you can get a horse early on. You can go catch one pretty much straight away as soon as you leave the Great Plateau. Riding around in a horse doesn't detract from the experience. You can fight enemies on horse or quickly jump off (and gain an advantage).

That said, if the tutorial area doesn't get you hooked then you probably won't be interested in the rest of the game. The tutorial area gives you all the tools you need to finish the game. I mean, if you really wanted you could head straight to the castle to fight Ganon. Once you leave the Great Plateau you can do the Divine Beasts, get more powerful, do shrines, fight Lynels, collect Koroks, and more. The story isn't great and you get a cutscene only every so often. The excitement of the game is exploration, side quests, doing shrines and becoming more powerful

I haven’t played in years but really all I have left to do is a few shrines, the final boss, and the rest of the DLC. I’m not doing 900 of those damn Korok seeds.

I finished the story. No way in hell I was doing 100+ shrines or 7 million Korok seeds. I'm replaying it right now before the new one releases and again no way in hell am I doing all the shrines or seeds.

I didn’t mind the tutorial area other than I had done it like 4 times. It’s getting to the actual overworld that just seems overwhelming at times. I actually did try to get a horse today and it charged at me and insta-killed me so I stopped for the morning 😂

Nope. One of the most boring games ive ever played. Got stuck trying to get into that lesbian colony and never went back. Did the first three 'divine bosses' and enough shrines to get the master sword which broke in two minutes.

That's exactly the part I got stuck on when I stopped playing on my Wii U save. I played it later on Switch but didn't even get as far as on Wii U, its flaws seemed more glaring on the next playthrough. The game is spread too thin with too much unrewarding busywork. For me, the antidote was Link's Awakening remake coming out.

Nope, put it away after ten hours. No real memorable characters like in previous games, storytelling in a way I didn't like, barren world for most parts.

Nope, first time i played 40 hours, did 3 of the dungeons (i coulnd't convince my balls to endure another one), got the master sword, some of the armours but i got bored and after hearing that the final boss fight was as shit as the others in the game i just bailed out.

I gave the game a second chance like 1 year ago but after 15 hours i just got bored again.

A nice physics system and level design can only gave me so much hours of fun when everything else is mid or downright bad or just absent.

Only zelda that i never finished (but i haven't played all of them)

If by finishing it, you mean getting at least all shrines, no, that's one of the debts I feel I have with the game before trying TOTK but I'm a little burned out of it, it's a great game but 200+ hours and not being able to find all the shrines after all this time leaves me no motivation and as TOKT looks too similar I'm far from urged to play it

people still whining about weapon durability lol. like just use another sword. the game gives you plenty of weapons. it's basically ammo instead of just having an upgradable weapons.

Yeah....after stopping for awhile.

I just did not see the magic in it that others did. I found the weapon durability system complete garbage and disincentives "exploring." The puzzles got old after awhile. Finding korok seeds did nothing. Not just being able to call the horse over got tiresome. I just...found the whole thing tedious.

That said....the vibe of the game was great, it just wasn't compelling enough for me to really like it.

Nope. I find it much easier to complete a 100+ hour Assasin's Creed game than this Zeldafied walking simulator.

Yes

My only gripe was with how easy it was to get in Hyrule Castle and to the top of it.
In my opinion, even with save scumming it should have been very difficult and almost impossible to get inside at the beginning of the game.
Something that only true hardcore nerds should ever attempt, like beating Dark Souls naked and at a low level.

The final boss was also disappointing and too streamlined.
Shrines don't feel rewarding, and there are too many of them. Reminds me of Skyrim's dungeons.
Finding Koroks is fun, but it gets too predictable after you find another one below some rock for the 100th time.

Overall a great game, but could have been better.

Finished the main game, all shrines, hearts and stamina, could not be bothered with the Korok seeds, just had fun exploring the map.

Nope, found it very boring and the weapon breaking made me evade combat as much as I could. Terrible game mechanic, imo.

The fusing in the new game seems like a good wat neglect that, but I’m not yet convinced considering the rest of the empty world. Maybe when the price has dropped over time. Or I just accept that these type of Zelda games aren’t for me.

Played once on wii u for about 45h, never bothered with the dlc since it didnt look worth the cost and maybe got 30-40 shrines.

All memories(had to look up the location for a few of the last ones) and the 4 beasts. Solid engine with some cool mechanics but xenoblade X did exploration and that part much better years before it.

Also the battle music was probably one of the only tunes i've started to get annoyed by, and the lack of orchestral music for zelda were such a sad way for it to change, like they have a ton of music, having a "zelda music player"ingame would just make the games soundtrack much much better!
