This game can be beautiful, but sometimes it also makes me think it's possible to launch this on Nintendo Switch. Sweet Jesus.

So it falls from 30 too? Is it frequent?
Yeah, the performance is probably the worst ive aeen on Series X when it comes to AAA gamea. I'm fussy as fuck about all that too, so it's a testament to the quality of the game for me that I'm even playing it, bit tbh it's that good I'll put up with it. They should be able to improve it with time, doesnt excuse the fact of how shit it is bit if Horizon can look the way it does and run at a smooth 60 they can do a lot better with this.

For 30fps mode (on SX at least) the main hub area is the worst performing, and it is frequent, there’s constant hitch if you run but it’s not debilitating for a non-action area, also if you run through the saloon too fast it’s like the Hogwarts Legacy stuck on the stair or door thing for a second or two. A few of the surrounding areas are pretty bad too.

Everything else aside from the HUB and the surrounding area on the same planet it’s mostly smooth with a drop here and there. Every other planet is fairly smooth except the HUB one for Quality mode (Performance off).

Some tips on it:

Dodge exactly after his cheeks deflate for the the main red charge attack, and do it only left or right (back won’t work) and have some distance already (basically back up through the animation and dodge when the cheeks deflate).

On the tongue OHK; he jumps back but it’ll take a while to attack compared to the ground slam, either dodge sideways and try to hit the tongue (good time to hit time slow) or just get the fuck out of the way of the tongue 👅 (I didn’t know there was an emoji for that till now), you can also dodge past (into) him on this one and hit the body if you’re close enough, he can‘t turn during it unlike the charge move.

He also has two ground slams one of which is close quarters where he jumps straight up (this one seems glitchy sometimes for me and would stun me 2 seconds after dodging it) but it should be a simple dodge back away, the other is where he backs up and jumps across the room at you and you have to jump over the shockwave where the wind-up can look a bit similar to the tongue pull animation in the wind-up, but it’s just a lot quicker...’if it stays there it’s the tongue, if it jumps you jump’.

Otherwise it’s just be aggressive as you can without being suicidal basically.

I finished the game in the easiest difficulty - Story mode and still struggled in many parts. I can’t fathom how y’all are playing this in the other difficulties.

Not sure why they decided the rayvis fight needed to be a 1000 x difficulty spike compared to everything else. 😡

Parrying is a little annoying right now. Got me wondering if it’s me, the game or the controller.
Made is to the second planet.
Game still looking and running great for me.

The new alien designs are pretty amusing but some of it is just nightmare fuel, lol.

This shit reminds me of the Brundlefly:

And as a serious response it’s the sense of improvement, the challenge of being able to analyze things on the fly: the Rancor took me 3 tries, then I read the movements and shredded it in a corner. Spawn of Ogbbo I failed it probably over 2 dozen times before coming back doing it 3 times and on the last not even having to spend a single health canister.

It just kind of mirrors the whole Jedi path where getting frustrated is the first mistake, sometimes when you hit a wall it’s better to build yourself up to overcome it.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
The Gen'Dai were a Legends-only species but they are mentioned in JS meaning they're canon now.

Since it’s been posted…

This game is going to expose that era to a lot of people, and it’s going to trigger the fuck out of he outrage bait culture warriors on YouTube who use it as view bait based on two characters from the comics. But this is the first time it’s been realized in such a way as up until now it’s just books and comics (they’re filming a TV series now set at the end of the era).

I hated BioWare’s look for KOTOR as it was supposed to be set THOUSANDS of years before the movies, but the technology looked the same. The High Republic is just a few hundred years before the movies and I love how stuff like the droids and lightsabers look antique. Hell a character in the game even uses that word.
Part of that is the limitations on graphics at the time. I felt that KOTOR resembled both the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy as sort of a mix match. I mean the prequels were definitely more sleek and shiny looking than the original trilogy and had better looking ships and craft too.

As for the High Republic, I think the setting itself looks interesting. I definitely want to see an era that looks more like the prequels and this looks like it's going to be just that. All the new different types of ships and some more variety instead of just the typical Jedi vs Empire.

Its the game. Timing seems kinda random.

After the perfect melee system in Ghost of Tsushima everything else feels lacking.

That said, holy fuck this Force Tear almost had me tearing my hair out until it finally clicked.

Had my first crash after I got to Jeddha. I'm trying to stay positive but the performance and bugs are pretty frustrating. I'm disappointed with Respawn, I was expecting them to have improved after the first game. Overall in my recent purchases it's now Marvel's Midnight Suns, TLOU, Gotham Knights, Hogwarts Legacy, TW:Warhammer 3, and even back to Halo Infinite and CP2077 - all of these games shipped with significant performance and quality issues. It feels like an industry wide problem. Something is broken.

What’s the point of setting custom beacons on the holomap if they don’t show up in the game world when you close the map? Am I missing something? There’s not even a compass telling me where the custom beacon is placed.

Is this the frog mini boss? I thought rancor was bad but this fucker is relentless. Lost half a bad wroth of skill points trying to get to my souls and he killed me in two hits.

Mini bosses are definitely broken in this game.

Seen on another site where theyre claiming a patch is coming later this morning. Not sure how true it is but they claim they saw it in Steamdb listed

Probably something small like fixing those buttons in the menu that dont work on PC or something lol

Is PS5 performance on perf mode okay to play or wait a month or so? I'm an LG C2 user so have VRR but don't know if it will make much of a difference

Man, this game really is in rough shape. Am I just unlucky or why isn’t this reflected more in the reviews?

Had two full crashes so far, arriving on Jeddha the sand monster didn’t even work (only when I reloaded I realized I wasn’t supposed to walk on the sand) and after meeting Merrin now I had to reload the game because the block I pushed down the ledge was too short to make the jump. After the reload it all of a sudden was high enough. Like, what the hell?

I'm finding the verticality of the level design to be tiresome, 3 planets in and this game feels like a "the flloor is lava" simulator. That being said I'm having fun, I'm playing on Jedi Master and the combat is tough but rewarding to learn. Still getting bodied by alot of enemies though, especially large groups.

The area/level designs are brilliant with a great story. FromSoftware class. Best game of the year for me with some margin.

Playing PS5@Quality.

How is this game still going? I've been smashing it ALL night and it's STILL not over. Could've had a nice bitter Empire Strikes Back conclusion with plot threads left over for a sequel but it went past that point.

I want to wait for patches but the game is so much fun. If not for the technical state this would be a 9/10 for me. Easily better than the first one in every single aspect. What a shame.

Aight I beat it.

I'd give it like an 8 overall. Planet variety is poor compared to the original game and the narrative could've been better but overall? It was worth the money.

Is it just me or is the plot in this game kinda meandering and contrived?

So, first of all, the game starts with this mission during which you need to recover tactical data about Empire's military positions for Saw Gerrera, but then you discover that the Empire is pretty much everywhere and that plot thread seemingly gets abandoned. Cal doesn't really bother actually delivering that data to Saw and instead he pisses off on another random adventure that he stumbled into dick-first after visiting Greez for ship repairs. Which is on a seemingly random planet which JUST SO HAPPENS to be a location for a conveniently hidden, ancient ruin that stores the secret of a hidden Jedi temple. And this random plot thread that Cal stumbles upon by complete accident suddenly becomes the main drive for the story? Uh, okay...

Also, the Ninth Sister encounter at the start of the game and the following death of Cal's team. The way it plays out, and how he executes the Ninth Sister in cold blood, I thought this was some sort of a set up for Cal to become progressively more angry and violent, potentially being tempted by the dark side as a result of his frustration of fighting this losing battle with the Empire and seeing his friends getting killed for nothing. But nope, he seems to be the same goody two-shoes as he ever was in the chapters that follow the opening, and him divorcing Nine Sister's head from her body is never touched upon after it happes (at least up until where I am now).

Idk, I probably still have a lot of the game to go, and I'm hoping that the pieces will eventually fall together, but so far I'm not terribly impressed with the story. I like the characters and performances still, and it's been fun reconnecting with the old companions, but other than that I find the whole thing rather aimless.

Anyone else feels similar about it?

I had a funny glitch happen to me. Cal didn’t retract his saber. 😆 I’d imagine you’d chop a leg off if that ever happened.

My guess is that some (or most) reviewers aren't knowledgeable enough to discuss the technical aspects in performance, leaving it to people like DF, NX Gamer to explain what's going on.

Itching to play this, but am still waiting for some updates.
