Star Wars Jedi: Survivor |OT| - Judge me by my file size, do you?

I played the game all weekend on XSX. It crashed once and there are a few hiccups here and there, but overall it has been a lot of fun to play. Playing in Quality mode is fine for this game. Their use of motion blur keeps the game feeling smooth compared to other games in 30fps mode.

To me, this game is another case when gamers just hop on the hater train and will now just hate on the game due to that being the common stance seen online. Does the game have flaws and warts? Yes it does. But more importantly is the game playable and fun? Absolutely it is. And that is really what I want from a game.

Almost 20 hours on PC, and still haven't run into notable performance issues whatsoever. So yeah, guess I am completely safe. Still such a bizarre issue, and beyond unfortunate. I really do hope that they can fix this for everyone, it's an awesome game. The performance nonsense really is such a shame.

I HAVE run into a few odd bugs...
- Fast traveled to another meditation spot, but never properly spawned in and just saw a black screen (fortunately relaunching fixed this)
- Hyper speed sequence to other planets was MIA. Didn't show the infamous Star Wars hyperspeed portion anymore, it just looked like a static image of the planet I was going to just sitting there, lol
- A side quest was bugged, I apparently completed it, but the icon remained on the minimap as if it wasn't completed

Spicy patch tomorrow for consoles. Here's hoping RT can be turned off on Performance so it can be stable now.

Tag, you're it.
Anyone playing on PC with ray tracing, you have a 99% chance of crashing on Jedha. The solution is to disable RT and then complete the mission. After that, you can re-enable it.

Quick question for those who finished
I just beat Reyvis and I'm chasing after Dagan, how much more do I have left?

Thanks. Last night i went to Jedda and started getting 20 fps in the very first area. I was like wtf is going on. Turned settings down to high and it leveled out.

I have just decided to not use RT on PC. While it can be fine in some areas, other areas become too heavy, and I can't be bothered toggling it every time.

Anyway, the performance after the patch seems about the same as before.

TIP for PS5 players.

If you’re sick of the screen tearing and frame drops (even with VRR), switch to Quality mode and change controls settings to:

Controller Look Sensitivity X - 6
Controller Look Sensitivity Y - 6

Makes quality mode feel much more responsive and you get the Quality Crispy graphics.
Gotta try this tonight

To be fair to the comment you replied to: That is basically the only spot in the game where my FPS has tanked (due to the amount of water RT) in Quality mode.

It is basically a solid 30 FPS experience in Quality mode on the PS5. I really enjoy my time with this game.

It is a great looking game. The graphics are gorgeous.

I’ve left it at normal because of the fear of what it would do to the frame-rate setting it to wide.

One thing is when trying parries, sorry if this is obvious, but hold it a bit so you at least get the block if you’re too early, and prepare for the next block/parry.

My crutch this whole game has been the double-bladed stance and the the vortex dive skill, basically it goes from blocking straight to a frontal dash that practically doubles as another dodge while attacking. It makes it so I can concentrate on the parries, so even if I accidentally block on a red attack I keep it held down and hit attack before it goes off, so I’ll either break the red attack with a guard break or land behind them out of the way if aimed properly while still hitting them.

It can be used to cut down distance too: Sprint, jump, double-jump, dash, land, vortex slash.
You werent kidding about this vortex slash skill. I am hardly getting hit now.

I'm hoping by the time I pick up my copy tomorrow...it will be a tiny but better...then I'll probs just sit on it for a week or so.

I did not say it did not have any issues. I did say that overall 30fps mode is fine. I did not say great. I did not say perfect. I said fine. Overall though, it is an enjoyable game.

If you want to prove your point that it is bad, at least show an area that has slow down during combat which would negatively impact your gameplay, versus an area just running in circles in water.

Sounds like some good shit. Once again, not a problem with PC as a platform, but a problem with releasing stuff before it’s fully cooked, or rather relying on paying customers to be your QA testers rather than paying for adequate QA.
I'm actually really curious to know where the issue was/is. EA certainly has their own QA team, as does Respawn, but there was definitely a disconnect somewhere. I think it just boils down to them not having enough time, and EA just kept firm on the original release date rather than delay it.

With anything like this, I’d assume there are a number of factors combining to create this kind of end result. But if we take them at their word about how hard it can be to design something for the number of permutations PCs can take, well, that’s nothing new. It’s been that way on PC forever and not everything comes out as a janky mess, and if this always seems to get fixed up in patches days or weeks post-launch…someone making the decisions behind the scene definitely fucked up. Delay it or allocate more resources to QA or both, I dunno, but hopefully the bad press and backlash is enough to make sure publishers stop putting out stuff that’s broken on day 1 because they’ll just fix it later…which I’m sure some marketing douchebag pushes for every time.

Mfs learned with Fallen Orders first Ogdoo, which you could sneak attack from high up.

Spawn of Ogdoo is pain. Any tips? I remember there was a counter move for when he did the tongue thing. What was it?

He just feels unfair, I went back to him after so many upgrades and having all the Stances and I still cannot beat it, I've come close a few times though but it shouldn't take this many upgrades to beat a optional boss

Really not enjoying this game so far on PS5. I went in hoping it would fix some of the flaws that dragged down the first game but it doesn't and hardly improves from it at all, feels more or less like the same game but just with unneccessary features tacked on like mount riding.

Maybe the just released patch improved things significantly, but I am playing it on my X670X 7700X with a 4090 and I am not getting bad performance at all. It's not great performance by any means.

Yes, I know I am playing on the cream of the crop GPU, but still I dont get all that many stutters.

Is it just me or is the plot in this game kinda meandering and contrived?

So, first of all, the game starts with this mission during which you need to recover tactical data about Empire's military positions for Saw Gerrera, but then you discover that the Empire is pretty much everywhere and that plot thread seemingly gets abandoned. Cal doesn't really bother actually delivering that data to Saw and instead he pisses off on another random adventure that he stumbled into dick-first after visiting Greez for ship repairs. Which is on a seemingly random planet which JUST SO HAPPENS to be a location for a conveniently hidden, ancient ruin that stores the secret of a hidden Jedi temple. And this random plot thread that Cal stumbles upon by complete accident suddenly becomes the main drive for the story? Uh, okay...

Also, the Ninth Sister encounter at the start of the game and the following death of Cal's team. The way it plays out, and how he executes the Ninth Sister in cold blood, I thought this was some sort of a set up for Cal to become progressively more angry and violent, potentially being tempted by the dark side as a result of his frustration of fighting this losing battle with the Empire and seeing his friends getting killed for nothing. But nope, he seems to be the same goody two-shoes as he ever was in the chapters that follow the opening, and him divorcing Nine Sister's head from her body is never touched upon after it happes (at least up until where I am now).

Idk, I probably still have a lot of the game to go, and I'm hoping that the pieces will eventually fall together, but so far I'm not terribly impressed with the story. I like the characters and performances still, and it's been fun reconnecting with the old companions, but other than that I find the whole thing rather aimless.

Anyone else feels similar about it?
I feel you need to finish the game based on your last paragraph.

i wonder if quality mode is more stable, i really hope so, cause otherwise i been pretty happy with the game

i dont think i would ever use performance mode considering how visually blurry it looks so dont really care about that side :messenger_beaming:

As it stands I honestly hope they buff up their performance mode. I've tried both modes and honestly, Quality Mode works nice in more closed areas, but as soon as you hit open-world it goes to shit.

Just make performance mode more clear and much less blurry. That's all I ask for now.

Meanwhile, regarding the game: the new hub is really good. Really nice touch there.

I'd love the same formula, but set in the Old Republic timeline. The Old Republic needs some more love.
I mean this leans into the High Republic stuff more at least, but yea more OR games are very welcome, in fact I just redownloded the Old Republic to finish off the main story in that

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
so the patch released yet for PS5? hows the improvement for performance mode?
I Installed the game but not jumped in yet.
