Its the same cycle every time ....
Insiders hype up the showcase with lies about games that will be shown and it never ends up being true or as great as they make it out to be, so people get super disappointed.
The Xbox showcase will be no different.

Sony clearly don't have a good number of first party titles this year, and the plan to let 3rd party to carry it and doesn't likely to work from what we've seen.

It's a D from me.
The only new things shown which interest me were Alan Wake 2, Dragon's Dogma 2 and I guess Marathon for its style + Bungie. The first two were notable in that they actually showed gameplay. In general, there was far too much CGI and "not actual gameplay" to judge much of anything else. The Snake Eater remake for example - should've been exciting, but I can't tell much about it because it's CG fucking I. At this point, i'm more excited about the Metal Gear Solid collection re-releasing. But again, no details given, so I hope at least it's 4K60.
In terms of what the first party is delivering, it was so bad. Spider-Man 2 looks just like the last game. I was expecting some sort of generational leap there. In fact in some shots, it even looked worse than I remember the original looking. Elsewhere, far too much generic GaaS shit was shown. Like Haven's game, what the fuck was even that?
I was already hyped enough for FF16, so I didn't really need to see any more of it. There was a lot of indie shit that didn't interest me much. And the samurai game trend is already starting to get over-saturated. The highlight of the show, if you can call it that, ended up being the PSVR2 segment. Not much truly new shown for it, but i'm glad there is some support to look forward to for a great headset.
The ball is in Xbox's court now and I think after such a poor performance, Phil will be sleeping soundly tonight.

I wanted to see what first party developers were working on (Sucker Punch, Cory Balrog team, Bluepoint, Wolverine, etc), and this showcase was almost 95% third party games. Not even a Bloodborne remaster, definitely a big disappointment.

I don't game anymore but if I played I would be completely disapointed.
This is a Sony PS showcase. Only one PS studios game was showned, and that was Spiderman. What the heck are PS studios doing?
We got bunch of generic games that will be realeased in other platforms and there was nothing really new.
What was there to justify dropping 500 eurs on a PS5? Heck, some games looked like moblle games.
Worst time ever for videogames. I'm glad I lived my youth 20 years ago.

I agree with you, I liked what I saw but people wanted more first party gameplay after all this time so I can get why the ratings are low. They should have warned us there would only be Spiderman 2 as 1st party gameplay, it would have rated higher.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the day when they will finally announce these. Why are they ignoring those trilogies is beyond me.
The show was just ok.
Too many indies, pacing felt off and the order of the announcements confusing.
It's clear that many of the studios are just not ready and they didn't feel confident to take part in it. And it's better that way than coming up with CGI teasers.
The positives:
Spiderman 2 looks amazing
Phantom Blade 0 looked amazing as well.
Hype for FFXVI through the roof with the latest trailer.
Finally Dragon's Dogma 2!
Alan Wake 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage looked cool.
Good to see Konami reviving the MGS IP.
Let's if there is more planned to be showcased later this year.

Seriously, if you are so early in development you can't show any actual gameplay then don't bother showing it. Am I the only one tired of hearing about games that are like 2+ yrs away?

Was hoping for a nod to Wolverine game, or Astro bot - neither happened.
Most of the “serious games” look pretty boring / generic. Medieval or space. We get it.
I’m truly in awe at the games that look like they are marketed to very… small subsets? Interesting business choices.
Some of the games I thought looked good weren’t my personal cup of tea - but I’m open to giving them a shot. Ultros, for example, was at least imaginative and beautiful - Plucky Squire looks like a nice attempt at something new.
SE doing an adult Splatoon inspired game followed by a clear Zelda BOTW inspired title was… odd.
Jim isn’t as bad as some say, but he hasn’t been great either. Not was Layton.
I think it’s time for someone more imaginative and knowledgeable of the PlayStation DNA to come in. I don’t personally (I know, it’s my opinion and some will disagree - that’s fine) like the current direction and last few SOP or showcases. Things are looking unimaginative, generic, and that’s a bit worrying. Sure a few games may end up being gems, but I didn’t see a lot there that got me hyped. Not like so many e3 showcases PlayStation dropped between 2010 and 2020 did.

I can't disagree.This generation sucks donkey dick.......luckily for me I've not wasted a penny on it.
If this was what was going to be shown at an E3 it would be the worst E3 in the 3rd year of any console I can remember. I have a PS5 and a PSVR2 and I am REALLY disappointed.
