The way he's talking the next big merger in the UK might be handled by the MCA That said, I've been in a few of these (litigation, not merger) and I am always surprised by how direct and aggressive the meeting leaders are - they don't fuck around, even in the U.S.

I suspect he's most irked by that recent application to delay , based on lack of appropriate counsel (which they shot down equally aggressively), when they knew they were deep in negotiations but neglected to mention it. The relationship between CAT and CMA seems distinctly frosty though, which I guess is not unexpected for an oversight body - have to hold them to account.
