Out of curiosity. What is the spread, distribution like around in the forum, in here ? To the people who have a digital version, do you miss physical media? Are you 100% digital now, or do you want to go back at some point?

Disc, bought off eBay so if I was going to pay over for it I was getting the one worth more even if I never use the disc drive. lol.

Disc because first and foremost I have a library of PS4 games on disc and don't want to gimp myself so I'm not being able to play them anymore. And second, I have a Blu-Ray library I started with with the PS3 back then as my only Blu-Ray player. This continued with the PS4 and now PS5.

Had DE, sold it.

There wasn’t enough games for me to justify owning it right now.

Will buy the new version next year at some point alongside Armoured Core.

TBH I’m upset I sold it when I did because shortly afterwards Sackboy and Ratchet appeared on PS Plus.

To OP, I’ve been all digital on PS since the PS4. Journey towards all digital started with PS Plus on PS3. Don’t miss physical but the first 2 or 3 years are rough for digital sale prices in comparison to physical. Soon games like GT7 will be 20 odd quid digitally on sale and that’s my biting point.

Disc version. But only because when I bought it the Digital edition was constantly out of stock and I didn't want to keep waiting anymore (it's not like the disc version wasn't a hassle to buy too, but it seemed to restock more often). The only disc I've ever inserted is from Spiderman Miles Morales, and just because it was part of the bundle I managed to buy. Otherwise, I've been 100% digital and I plan to continue that way.

I bought a PS5 disc version because of my old PS4 games, then I realisedI only wanted to carry across a handful and ended up buying the digital versions anyway. I am king of the cucks.

This means I am now 100% digital on the current generation.

Digital for me. I don't miss physical at all. Switched to digital only when I picked up the PS4Pro (after having a PS4).

My BRs and UHD BRs (which ironically, considering the topic, I have thousands of) get played on a dedicated player.

I'm pretty much 100% digital with PS5 games, but I still have a lot of PS4 discs so I find the disc drive useful for that. Also, when I'm vaguely interested in trying a game but not sure it's one I'll want to keep, I like being able to get a physical copy on sale at some point to try it out while being able to resell if I don't end up enjoying it.

I have the disk version, only because it was the only model I could get my hands on at the time, it was sold out everywhere.

If I can get the pro without the disk drive, I will.

I decided to go for the Digital Edition because where I live, games are way cheaper digitally. Games here almost never are discounted. I have a US account and even at full price, it’s cheaper.

If you see a game with a discount here, surely it’s a game that you can find on the PS Store at $15 or less on sale, so it will always be cheaper.

Ironically, Switch games have better discounts and can be found cheaper. I have purchased Switch games that are equivalent to $25-$30 dollars when on sale.

I have the disc edition, but only for the fact that I will watch 4K movies on blu-ray once in a while, for the games I have been 100% digital since the beginning of the PS4.

Disc. I will never go digital as long as the disc version is still there. My gut feeling is that the PS6 will still have the rumored separate disc drive that will be releasing next for the PS5 new SKUs.

Interesting, here and in most of Europe you can get full priced physical PS games usually €10 - €15 and sometimes even €20 cheaper than their digital counterparts. MSRP for current-gen PS5 games is €80 in EU.

Disc version.

And I’m glad I went with that one since I’ve actually used the disc drive even though I’ve been all digital for almost a decade - kids played some Skylanders game. And I found TLOUP2 for $4 at a sale, haven’t played it yet but I’ll do it eventually.
It is uglier than the digital but I’m used to it now.

I always go for the best version available (except when I got my Deck and only the 64GB version was available, but even there I replaced the internal memory as soon as I got it)

So disc

I bought the disc version mainly because I have a big physical PS4 collection. But last year I moved and finally got access to high speed internet, I went from 3 mbps to 50 mbps overnight... and I've embraced digital so much that even if I own a physical PS4 game, I often just do a digital double dip for the pure convenience.

PS5 DE.
Barely bought any physical games last gen, didn't see the need for a disc drive.

Edit: To answer the OP I really don't miss physical games in general.
I sometimes wish I'd have gotten one with a disc reader because of the price increase of games but it's offset by the fact that the Digital Edition simply is rather easy on the eyes compared to the Standard Edition.

I wanted the Digital Edition but those were always out of stock. Had to buy the GOW bundle which only came with the disc version :(

I bought the PS5 disc version, despite every game I own being digital, and the only disc I've ever put in the thing is my Hong Kong version of Super Robot Taisen: OG.

I dunno, I guess the digital version just feels wrong to me. Like I'm being locked out of something I might need in the future.

It's like a public washroom without a urinal. Sure dudes can sit down to take a piss too, but they really want the urinal there in case they're feeling proud of their junk and bold enough to tolerate the side-eye glances from fellow urinal users.
