I want one of this things badly but I'm not really excited to give them my money to hold for 2 years while they ship it to me. Lol

yea, it's the Analogue experience. On the flip side, when you get that shipping notice and it's NOT accompanied with a hit on your credit card it's kind of nice lmao. It's like you forget about the initial charge because it was so long ago.

With latest firmware you can also play SNES games and a whole host of other systems. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Already have the black pocket but this glowing one is tempting!

They will ship them right away
I have no doubt they've got a batch ready to ship right now, but if history is any indication, the demand will far exceed their stock, and a lot of people will have to wait quite a long time to get theirs.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Analogue Pocket (I've got both a black and white model). It's easily one of the best handhelds I've ever had. But Analogue as a company has sucked at doing practically anything timely. Firmware updates, production, shipping, etc.

For anyone who really wants this device, be ready to order immediately at 8am on Sept 1. When I first ordered the Pocket, my buddy ordered his maybe 10 minutes after me, and I got my Pocket 4 or 5 months before he did. I doubt it'll be that bad for the glow in the dark version, but I still recommend people order it asap if they want it soon.

Just got mine delivered. Everything screams good quality. The battery, after a full charge, feels random.
I regularly loose 1 or 2% just menuing in the OS for 1 or 2 minutes maximum. Which is weird. I adjusted the brightness and sound to a middle ground. Not too much, not too low.
On the contrary, in gameplay with Open FPGA (SNES on Yoshi's Island), I played 45 minutes and lost around 15% battery. So pretty much in range with what I expected of battery life, meaning around 6 to 7 hours to deplete).
But the depletion in the OS is concerning to say the least.

Question for someone who knows :

How do I get that jt TMNT and Simpsons arcade cores , Matt pannella syncer? I used that for my first install.

Can i use the same exe again ? Or do I need to redownload a new version ? And if I do? Does it keep my micro sd with games intact? And only adds new files ?

I think those cores are still only accessible to patreon members only at this point. The previous JT cores didn't appear on any public repository or core tracker until a couple months after the Patreon only release..

I just received mine, as a portable FGPA system it's petty cool. I am worried that it charged to 100% and i then played with it dropping to 90% and then put it on a charger with the system off and the battery level never increased even after being connected for a few hours and the charge light being lit.

I don't have the dock but from just using it in handheld mode, the inability to use display filters with OpenFPGA cores is a huge loss. From reading it's also limited on working controllers as I read the new 8bitdo NeoGeo CD controller doesn't work on it. A MiSTer on a TV will look infinantly better, gives you more systems (PSX, Saturn, and semi working N64). And it can handle whatever controller you throw at it.

I'm not sure that the Pocket features this but a lot of modern devices have charging thresholds to prolong battery life. This may be normal behavior.

I stand corrected. Maybe it was the first battery depletion that felt really fast & random.
After being depleted for the first time and a full charge after that, the battery seems much more robust and I've been playing 1h30 to 2h and had 20% depleted with sound and brightness adjusted to mid +. So now pretty confident about it. Also received a third party glass protector (after having totally botched the analogue one... though the third party one was much better and practical, being cheaper and getting 2 glass protector instead of one...), and applied it correctly.

So really satisfied by the product, even if the cost is really high given the 75$ for the transport and the unexpected importation taxes (110$)...

That's entirely possible, but most devices turn off the charging circuit and don't display the charging light. Other's fake the percent so they only charge to 80-85% but report 100%.

If you want an ideal case for the Pocket, the HORI Nintendo 2DS LL hard case fits perfectly. I ordered one from Japan. You can get them on eBay and Play-Asia.

Thoughts???

This is part of the Evercade series of consoles and games. These devices only play Evercade cartridges and games. They are pretty cool systems and fun to collect for too. There are some threads for this on here such as this one for the Evercade EXP which is their latest console. This is otherwise completely unrelated to the Analogue Pocket which is designed to play classic game cartridges.

How long does Glow plastic usually last? Reading confusing things like they're best stored and used in the dark and that day light diminishes the glow faster.... 👀 👀 👀

Ignore the fear about the stuff from 40 years ago. Modern glow plastic is rated to work for decades.

So they do need to charged up with some (UV) to get the nice glow in the dark.

Sunlight, for that stuff. It's a really weird thing to do, I wouldn't want a handheld that glowed like that. Transparent, though - yes please. They should do an Atomic Purple one as a tribute.

Damn! I've already got a black one, but if these were Game Boy priced and not subject to Analogue's insane shipping costs (to the UK) I'd be getting one of these versions. Available from Sept 29 (no doubt straight to eBay).

Are there no official UK resellers?

No, Analogue ships to the UK but it seems to be a flat rate per package. I was going to order one of their Pocket Docks, now that they're readily available, but the item sells for $100 and the shipping for that was $60. Plus there'll be another 20% on top if the customs people get a hold of it. I'm not paying $60 to ship a $100 product out of principle.

I've already got the black and the white Analogue Pockets, but holy craaaap that translucent purple is calling my name. It looks so nice. Ugh.
