Crow thread: Elon Musk has owned Twitter for one year now

So by that logic, the very same people also made Elon Musk rich af due to market manipulation for Tesla right? Or does it only go in one direction when it suits a specific narrative?
Musk is still the biggest shareholder of Tesla unlike Disney where Blackrock, Vanguard and State are the biggest shareholders.

I mean, it doesnt matter either way.

Im not an advertiser, I cant challenge elon or his policies. I can only criticize them.

Elon has power to enact positive chance and growth, but this endeavor to own and run twitter was always a stroking of his own ego, and that seems to remain the case.

Musk was smart, he only started opening his mouth and going against the narrative™ after he became filthy rich and practically untouchable

Pretty sure when you, as in the mentioned big three, own 88% of the S&P 500 it does only go one way in the moment. Not but a few years ago Elon was a champion of humanity and I wager in the next few he will be literal Hitler. Looking back on things in hindsight you'll find all sorts of mistakes, even ones made by the oligarchs.

Which is why he's retracting what he said and not so subtly begging advertisers to come back to Twitter with some weird form of guilt about not supporting HIS free speech™ platform.

You and I have very different definitions of the word beg

He's doing it in a guilt tripping way by being passive aggressive, he's telling them to go fuck themselves but then saying THEY'RE going to kill the platform because they don't want to support HIM and HIS choices.

They reported that major ads were showing up next to white supremacist propaganda and other extremely offensive content.

Which is 100% accurate.

Using Media Matters and accurate journalism in the same sentence is incredible.

Already covered it.

Context at the timestamp. If it's true, I hope they can prove it in court. I think it helps their case that a day after the article was published, a few different sources said they were completely unable to replicate the results that Media Matter was able to obtain.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion

They provided literal screenshots of the ads next to pretty heinous stuff. And it could have been easily replicated up until the point that Twitter decided to tweak the algorithm to try and prevent it. As somebody who sometimes dives deep into the conspiracy littered side of Twitter for laughs I have seen some ads for stuff like Apple and Taco Bell next to some absolutely insane stuff.

I'm honestly just surprised that it took advertisers this long to realize that it was happening. Because this was happening as far before musk ever took over. It's only gotten worse though. And more noticeable because of the distinct lack of moderation on the website and the vocal support he has had for conspiracy theorists and other nut cases.

It’s just so fascinating that, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, people still think Elon is acting out of principles and not being a petty bitch about everything.
Can't he just be a petty bitch acting out because of his principles? I don't see why they'd be mutually exclusive.

He doesn't just amplify whatever he has to say boosting the reach of his own account. By making it so verified (paid) users are always seen first, the strongest voices on the platform in replies are those who agree with the current direction of Twitter enough to pay for it. That, or they care enough about their opposing viewpoint enough to pay for it to be seen, and for them to remain verified. Either way, it's antithetical to free speech.

And I'm going to eat some crow of my own over this statement. While I still feel that free speech should be free, I honestly thought that the vast majority of people on the platform would now be leaning in particular direction when it comes to social issues and other heated topics. I was wrong, and the responses to this post was a good example of that.

It's crazy, but here's post after post of verified (paid) twitter users who don't seem like they'd support Musk, but it looks like they're still paying for twitter. I'm honestly surprised people would pay money just to continue insulting people with a different worldview, but perhaps I shouldn't be.

LoL, I like Musk. Perhaps not the voice of reasons he should be but that’s probably because he would be lost like that against the woke movement. That train has left the station long ago.

I’m sure he knows what he is doing, despite of what our economy experts here say. He’s in this for the long run.

…not really? I guess if your principles are you act out in pettiness at stupid shit, but I don’t know anyone who’d say that’s someone of principled character.

If he had at least made the platform significantly better to use, then I could more or less tolerate his flailing around like a clown.

Yet he hasn't. Also, the name stinks. It's like 90s cringe: "Mom, I wanna be cool! Please call me X!".

No, but it was in development before Musk. Musk liked the idea, kept it, and renamed it from Birdwatch to the less twitter themed "community notes." A much better naming choice than "X," if you ask me.
Birdwatch first launched in 2021, Musk took over late-ish 2022.

It is crazy how often leftist cartoons try to be funny by depicting alt right dude (or associate or just people they don't like) as a bunch of crybabies, when leftists are one of the most "crybabyish" political group ever.

Plus everyone knows Musk is severly autistic so mocking his autistic meltdown is kind of the opposite of the values they are supposed to defend...

I know autistic people... Musk is high functioning autistic. Severely autistic people can barely function in public in a "normal" way. Their senses are cranked up to 11 and, thus, have sensory processing issues.

So calling him "severely autistic" is a cop out and a lame excuse for his behavior. If he was, he wouldn't be able to run any of those companies, do his SNL appearance or these interviews.

So the one thing I gave Musk credit for wasn't even his? 😫
Well he’s only been around a year lol. You can’t build something like Twitter Blue for instance as quickly as it came out under Musk it had been brewing for quite some time before him, he added his own ideas though that were never planned like increasing the reach of your posts and killing off the existing verification system.

Other than small stuff in generally what has launched was in development, some things already existed and people didn’t realize it as well lol.

If nothing else Musk provides a lot of marketing for whatever he owns as people pay way more attention than they did before him.

I don’t think he’s had many ideas that improved the platform, it’s all generally been designed to generate more revenue and he’s failed at that obviously. He increased their efforts to drive people to use the app for instance over web browser which is really meant to increase data collection and lessen ad blocking all the while causing that part of the business to crash.

They have increased app usage hence him using that “user hours” statistic he kept touting but to what end?

This is what it comes down to? Arguing how autistic a man is?

Still, why do the ones who preach "tolerance and acceptance" the first to shout "ableists," get free passes at their total hypocrisy when it comes to ideological led targets they don't like?

I never see people on that side denouncing that shit. Just more excuses for that behavior, kicking the can down the road. From "body shaming" Trump's weight, to attacking and not "believing all women" who aren't subservient to the brand they push.

That is why people laugh at the clown world hypocritical double standard bullshit and grow more and more apathetic towards said people. All fake as fuck virtue.
