agreed - I posit that Lucia is released into the custody of Jason, a DEA agent, to assist in an undercover operation infiltrating the drug culture in Vice City. This, I believe, is the nuanced, mature love story that Rockstar aims to portray, akin to the complexity seen in a Red Dead-style narrative. It seems unlikely that Rockstar would opt for a simplistic love story between two gangsters.

Im sure the internet would absolutely LOVE the fact that you'd be playing as a hypothetical law enforcement agent :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I mean as main characters before you could do all these things and it made sense.

Yeah, I'd absolutely be in favor of it. I keep saying that we still need to hear what the brand new thing is, not sure what the word for it is but the brand new thing about V absolutely was the fact we had three protagonists and we could switch between them on the fly. What is it in VI?
 
This part here is way more I guess almost photo realistic than most other bits in the trailer. Especially her character model. Or is it just me?

The social media ingame videos seem to have that more realistic look to them. That being said, i hope we get to have some races here, racing through mud and what not. Certainly seems so.
It's her animation that does it as much as anything. They conveyed so much character in her two seconds of footage. She's confident, playful, sassy, fun...compare that to typical NPCs who maybe smirk and cross their arms.

Why didn't you tell us the crimes that were committed by the women in those mugshots you posted? You posted those pics to try to prove that attractive women can be violent career criminals, so tell us what they did.

I would be so down for that. And imagine if first person view was that awesome, it looks so damn good in that bodycam part. Some horror games play that way, but very likely not here.

And you're right, just a love story between two gangsters just sounds so basic, it really makes you think Rockstar wanted to do more with it and did. But there were rumors also that it would be a Bonnie and Clyde story. So who knows!

However, imagine if it does turn out he's a DEA agent and you get to kick down doors, enter apartments and either arrest or shoot drug dealers. It would be great, and it could be THE new thing for this game. Like how the three protagonists was the new thing in V.
I would love to see the story impacting gameplay like this. It would be fun to bring the two of them into missions and side activities and use something interesting like the guy's DEA agent status to approach things differently.

Well, tbf no other publisher has $2B to pump into one single game over 7+ years of development time.

Almost nothing interested me last night. Maybe 3-4 games did but that's about it. Hopefully some of those release before GTAVI.

Not every studio has a 2 Billion to burn on a single game.
And who's fault is that? Studios and corporate take bad decisions and make games assigning budget in shitty stuff.

FROMSOFTWARE can make iterations of the same game more ambitious every time cause they are doing the right calls.

Take for example guerrilla, they are masters in their craft but their games are average at best.
Without the good graphics those games don't lift dust from the ground. Naughty Dog is stuck in the 'story first' loop and they don't push new ideas since ps3. For a good story i read a book and not some bloated script of an edgy director who don't make 'fun' part of their games. And Santa Monica I'm sorry but the 3 first Gow are better games that dad of war.

All the extra fancy stuff in games comes after you land the gameplay and the core experience. The two red dead games and the last two gtas gives them the credits.

Not to mention is a 25 year old franchise.

Ahh ic where you're coming from, a FROMSOFTWARE fan boy. For your refined taste, its a natural process for you to dislike current Sony games.

Also, based on metacritic, none of those poorly made Sony games you're complaining about are average. Most find their games good to great (you can't really argue against fact).

Hey Sony is the one spending 200 millon in 30hs long games with linear stories and basic replayability. Wherever floats your boat man..

Nah, not for me. In fact, TGA had plenty of games I look forward to because they look great. Those will hold me over nicely until 2025, plus the backlog.

Jason stood out to me in the trailer for some reason, it took me a little bit to put my finger on why. At first I thought he looked vaguely familiar. Then I realized, he just reminds me of the general GTA 4 character design style. Jason seems like a modern/realistic evolution of that super-duper stylized almost cartoony look GTA 4 characters had. I don't really notice it with any other characters though, just him.

It seems like this game has found a happy medium between GTA IV and V. I loved IV but I get many people did not but V went too far in the other direction. It seems like this has settled in the middle which is a good thing.

I think i get what you mean. I would say the circle closes even when looking at Claude from GTA 3. Jason looks like a classic Rockstar character.

Right after I posted, I was looking at those pics and thought, "He straight up looks like Niko." I googled "gta6 jason niko" and sure enough there's a reddit thread where someone predicts Jason is Niko's son...

You've ignored my request to tell us the crimes that were committed by the women in those mugshots. The reason you chose not to answer is because those women were charged with things like drunk driving and misdemeanor shoplifting and you realized how stupid it is to suggest that because a hot women drives drunk then she could believably do things like carjack men and get into shootouts with gang members. lol

Yep. I wish the whole game looked like this, goddamn. I'm guessing they are using some kind of filter for these social media clips ingame. But that doesn't explain the significantly more detailed character models. And yep, she even looks more real than Lucia and Jason do, agreed.

To me, he looks like a younger Arthur Morgan from RDR2. The scene when the siblings were doing incest stuff and he pulls that face 🤣
I see it mostly in the top pic. I cant unsee it.

It's a fucking Rockstar game. They are not meant to represent reality, but an over-the-top Hollywood version of reality. Which is why the main characters look pretty.

And yes, attractive women can be career criminals. They aren't mystical magical creatures but human beings.

I thought the same thing when I saw them robbing some place and driving away.

It wouldn't surprise me if as the story progresses and their crimes escalate that Jason gets flipped by law enforcement to turn on her but I'm just speculating here. Also wasn't there rumors that this game would take place over two different timelines?

Much has already been said about the relationship between Lucia and Jason, with numerous discussions circulating online. While many compare their dynamic to Bonnie and Clyde, anticipating a narrative shaped by social media and criminal exploits, my impression from the first trailer suggests a love story more reminiscent of "Out of Sight" than the frenetic energy of "Natural Born Killers."

For those unfamiliar with "Out of Sight," the film centers around a bank robber (George Clooney) and his partner evading US marshals, with an unexpected twist as the robber falls for one of the pursuing cops (Jennifer Lopez).

Although not an exact match, hear me out.

The trailer begins with Lucia talking to what seems to be her parole officer, likely discussing her release. Notably, official art shows her wearing an ankle monitor, commonly used for conditional release. Additionally, there's police footage resembling a drug raid captured from a body cam.

Nah, 'cause I'm pretty sure the trailer is telling the story backwards.

She is arrested after the robbery at the liquor story went wrong. She already knew Jason before the arrest.

I like the angle of her being the police informant, leaving jail after making a deal with the police to arrest Jason or other criminals that she might know. This would be revealed as a plot twist later on in the game.
 
I do hope they make the game play better. I’ve tried GTA multiple times, from GTA3 to San Andreas to IV and V, the only one I lasted more than 2 hours was IV, I actually got 30-40 hrs into it before I lost interest.

I just end up not doing the mission, drive around randomly running over civilians and shooting random people , and after a couple of hours that novelty wears off and I move on to another game.

The mission design needs a complete overhaul. This Mission success or mission failed bullshit needs to go. They should consider bonus objectives that carry over through the storyline.

A game like True Crime Streets Of LA(2003) had better mission design and a story line depending on the mission success.

GTA has no real freedom and you can only choose the ending. This shit needs to go.

Liok at RoboCop for example how you can choose different answers.

That's exactly right, it's why I give up on missions quickly, because I hate repetitive game play and once I fail a mission several times and am forced to repeat the same beginning of the missions multiple times I lose interest in the doing them.

They need to as you say, make failing a missions really hard, that you can almost always get past it and move on to the next thing to keep the momentum and pacing. But make it hard to achieve the optimal outcome for the mission, thus still give incentive to players who want the challenge.

Getting a little ahead of myself here, but...

What'd be cool going forward after this game releases and between the likely-giant timespan between this and GTAVII... would be a couple of smaller, more dense story-driven titles built on the newer engine and revisiting Niko Bellic in Liberty City, for eg. "Grand Theft Auto Revisited: Bellic's Liberty" & revisiting CJ in the original San Andreas, for eg. "Grand Theft Auto Revisited: City Of Saints".

The maps could be totally rebuilt in the new engine and brought up to par; and the time period in each could maybe be ~10yrs or so after the original games -- not so much an epic tale, but more of a steady "drop-in, experience the characters, how they've evolved, experience the worlds again, then drop out" kinda thing.

This would satisfy fans of single player, story-driven content while the new GTA Online is well underway satisfying the multiplayer folks. These could be sold as large DLC expansions or standalone games at a somewhat reduced price (not too much of course, this is an R* game..).

Of course, to further incentivise R*/T2 and make it more of a viable, attractive investment to rebuild these maps/worlds/assets; they could then be updated to current times; and ported into the new GTA: Online as flight/travel destinations. Resulting in an expanded new GTAO that includes Leonida, Liberty City & San Andreas all seamlessly integrated (perhaps San Andreas could be expanded for the GTAO version with a hybrid of the San Andreas/GTAV versions of Los Santos somehow integrated and wrangled together).

EDIT: Additional possibilities: the new Vice City area of Leonida in GTAVI could be redressed for the late 80s/early 90s and we could revisit Tommy Vercetti in "Grand Theft Auto Revisited: Magic City" & the aforementioned recreation of Liberty City could be redressed for Claude to be revisited some time after GTAIII in "Grand Theft Auto Revisited: Ghosts Of Liberty City".

That's four focused single player, story-driven titles that would draw $40-50 a pop for R*/T2 while using some existing assets as a base or helping create lots of assets for Online. Drop one every two years on PS6 alongside a port of GTAVI & GTAO early on = $$$ + Happy Customers

Then GTAVII -- probably arriving on PS7 -- could be more of a major break from the norm and something fresh.


Something like:

GTAVI - Feb '25 (PS5/XS)
GTAO2 - May '25 (PS5/XS)

GTAVI + GTAO2 - Mar '26 (PC)


GTAVI + GTAO2 - Q4 '28 (PS6/X5)

GTAR: Magic City - Q2' 29 (PS6/X5/PC)

GTAR: City Of Saints - Q2' 31 (PS6/X5/PC)
+ San Andreas added to GTAO2

GTAR: Ghosts Of Liberty City - Q2' 33 (PS6/X5/PC)
+ Liberty City added to GTAO2

GTAR: Bellic's Liberty - Q2' 35 (PS6/X5/PC)


GTAVI + GTAR Collection + GTAO2 - Q2 '36 (PS7/X..?)


GTAVII - Q1 '39 (PS7/X..?)

Exactly. I was searching for GTA6 leaks of the trailer before the official release date. I didn't even watch shorts on YouTube of the best of the game awards lol.

I agree, but even before they did, they still created games on a level beyond most developers.

Shit you have developers today, still playing catch up to their features from 20 years ago. Having lots of money, doesn't automatically mean your game will be of great quality, if that was true, EA and MS would have like the best quality games lol
