I mean Forza Horizon 5 looks better than Forza Motorsport and that's also a cross gen game.

Shit, I would have been more than happy if FM looked like Horzion 5 with their updated physics.

How the fuck do you know I wear glasses?!?!?!?!????????!!!!!!

So this is a genre john fancies? Is he comfortable covering that one?
Noted - Racing games = ok

Also - lol gt7 obviously looks better

Wtf? Is this real? This mf covered that open-world dumpster fire 'Forspoken' (Forspoken revisited video). What an absolute coward. Hogwarts Legacy was a solid game that in no way deserves the hate and exclusion it has received.

I’ll stick to the significantly better looking Horizon 5 for my Forza fix, play Assetto Corsa Competizione for my hardcore racing sim, and grab GT7 at some point for my casual track game.

Best of every world for me.

Gt7 just looks better. Especially the car models. I’ve played both back to back plenty. They both still look great but forza just really lacks consistency. Certain light conditions are really unflattering. I could swear RT might be buggy in forza for pc too, and the AA implementations all have weird issues. GT7 IQ is so crisp

Forza 8 should first try competing with Forza 5 from a decade ago. No, seriously, there's something really wrong with the modeling and lighting in 8 at some points. I have no idea what happened after 6 years.

Forget the whole "from the ground up" bullshit. It's like they threw away their old and decent assets and replaced them with placeholders like that awesome concrete texture you'll see everywhere:

I think I said it in the other thread a while back but GT7 is more accurate to real life in the tracks, with Forza adding details that aren't there (lights and shit, which isn't a bad thing exactly because tracks can look a bit boring).

GT7 having VR, how can anyone put these even remotely close? lmao
Yeah that's the biggest miss for Forza - coupled with its excellent controller feel and mid wheel support and it ends up filling the role of a quick arcadey type of game for me.

In most tiny gifs and when there's a soup of pixels for weather I would agree. Remove the motion blur vaseline and the assets just don't hold up anymore.

WEll it's an early ps4 game when you stop. There was no TAA or anything like that yet.
You always repost the same extremely cherry picked screenshots. It doesn't prove any point.
It looks good despite low resolution.

Some of my shots and vids. Taken this year on ps5. Those without UI are photo mode - just anti aliasing essentially(I compared). Game looks jaw dropping when you play it.
The photo mode shots are still 1080p. I suspect they are adding msaa or supersampling. God I wish it was playable with photo mode aa.

Overall, a very good comparisons video and points out how accurate GT is compared to FM which takes more artistic liberties with trackside details and certain things. GT is still unmatched when it comes to lighting and shader accuracy. A track does not turn into a perfect mirror, something I called out around the "raytraced" reflection circle jerk. Good to see John pointing that out during the rain comparison.

Nice shoutout to driveclub, the goat of weather simulation.

I don't know about you guys, but Forza's realistic lighting does much better in some comparisons.

GT here looks very "gamey" by comparison. The much better trees on Forza also help.

I'm still watching but the consensus I've reached so far is that I wish T10 gave half the shit that Polyphony does about cars.
They delayed the game so many times after GT7 came out but there’s only so much that can help you without love in your veins.

Gran Turismo is a game made from someone that has passion for cars. It's as simple as that. Forza is just a business.

There's also the fact Gran Turismo has a certain art style that serves the game just right. Like it's "too clear" to be considered realistic sometimes while Forza tries to go for a more realistic look but doesn't work as good as ends up looking more washed out.

It's clearly a japanese game vs an american one in every way.

GT is a game made by the car industry. PD even designs concept cars with a lot of manufacturers (Vision GT cars). The whole vibe around it says enough. A lot of passion and that really not what i see in Forza.

I agree with the conclusion, both are good looking games but GT7 clearly has the edge. Comparing the games themselves, while both play well, Forza is just very barebones and sterile in its presentation compared to GT7.
