Genshin Impact |OT| 4.0 (Fontaine) - Je m'appelle "la baleine"

Interesting post I saw earlier, based on the name of the billets we get (not sure how reliable that is), the Teyvat map is oriented incorrectly in our menus.
I've thought about this before, but no matter how you slice it Snezhnaya will most likely use Southlander Billets (if the naming is consistent) and there's no way they're gonna be located in the south.

Been digging in to the lantern rite today. Multiplayer is laggy as fuck and unfun.
That's the real issue with those multiplayer modes. Players just teleport all over the place, you get bumped by invisible opponents. I appreciate that they try to incorporate more MP stuff, but this really holds it back.

Tangibly related: I was thinking about how perfect Cloud Retainer as a C6 character would be for co-op. She can heal, VV shred, DPS for herself and buff others. It's kind of insane how that lines up.

Edit:

Looks like his arm might have been amputated.

So is that guy in white the new Diluc? Looks cool to me.
Supposedly leaked concept art for Varka, the head of the Knights of Favonius (Jean's boss), currently out fighting Capitan in Schnezhnaya with the elite Knights.

Well IL just became your best damage carry by far, but it's probably gonna take you a while to get him up to snuff. I think part of the problem is that you're probably using Blade vs. the Santcus Medicus girl and she's got strong resistance to Wind element. I'd be surprised if you couldn't just brute force her with FireBlazer/Blade/Bronya/Lynx though. Guess it depends on your gear and stats to a degree.

Anyways, a strong team to shoot for would be Dan IL/Tingyun/Flex/Lynx. I wouldn't recommend Bronya for that team because of her hunger for skill points contrasting with IL who also needs them. If you get a Hanya down the road, she's perfect for the flex slot. Serval/Sampo DoT team could be pretty potent too. You also have 3/4 of the characters to make mono-quantum work, if you roll for Silver Wolf next time, you could do well with that team.

It's kinda funny though, you're missing almost exactly 1 character for most meta team setups somehow.

I just went through that whole quest line with Jeht in the desert of Sumeru, and ended up at the Eternal Oasis, man what a haunting and beautiful melody that plays there, and that area is so cool.

I dunno if you're a lore enthusiast and a reader of all the random text scattered throughout the game world, but it's such a shame that the presentation and the area for Jeht/Liloupar was so awful, because it has one of my favorite lore tales and lots of great little excerpts. But yea that area is SUPER shit for trying to 100% it. Imagine it without ANY underground maps, and that's what most of us had to deal with.

It's kinda crazy the narrative style difference between the Star Rail 2.0 main story and the main quest for Genshin's lantern rite. Star Rail's story is a "show don't tell" story where you actually interact with characters and make up your own mind about them and choose to treat them kindly/cruelly/like a meme. From the very second Gaming came on the screen in Genshin, it's been non stop them sucking his dick going "OMG GAMING IS SUCH A GOOD PERSON!!! DID WE MENTION HE'S SUCH A GOOD PERSON OMG OMG OMG".

Unsurprisingly I just found out the guy that wrote nearly all of the good story arcs in Honkai Impact 3 was the main scenario writer for Star Rail 2.0, so that tracks. I'm a bit amazed at how MHY is apparently so big now that they don't seem to talk to each other about what makes stories good or not.

Anyways, so far this lantern rite sucks and it's mostly only been saved by Cloud Retainer being tsundere with the Fontaine gadgets and her quirks trying to fit in with the human world.

Thanks for your input Pejo Pejo

Yap, managed to brute forced my way through her thanks to Dan Heng IL.

Plus, I was not ready for the plot twist right after.

Im a bit invested in other characters, but I guess there's no problem in that, because the game clearly wants you to strategize many times and constantly switch teams.

But from now on I'll focus on Dan Heng IL team. He is really good damage wise.

I'd argue that up to level 60 it's relatively a small investment overall. It's a bigger jump in materials to go from 60-70, and then 70-80 gets ridiculous with materials, so yea it's not bad to have a bunch of options at 60. I would recommend having at least 2 strong teams with maxed skills/light cones before uncapping the next world level though, it'll save you some headache.

I was looking at Sparkle tonight because I liked her role in the story, personality, and design, and for some reason I thought she was a Fire tank, but it turns out she's a Quantum supporter, and from the looks of it she's gonna be fantastic for Dan IL. Her ult extends the max skill points and straight up gives you 4 skill points, while increasing Crit Damage and ignoring enemy defense for all attacks, among other benefits.
Anyways, if you like Dan a lot and plan to stick with him for a while, she might be a worthwhile pickup for you. I personally like multiple damage dealers on the same team but if you want to use him as a hyper carry, Sparkle will definitely make it easy.

Also man, that's a bummer. I was really hoping Sparkle was Fire tank, I had a few team ideas all ready to go for that...

Her alt gives you 4 skill points yeah, but just having her in your party gives you a max of 7 skill points.

Seems like overkill for the current cast. Outside of IL there's not really anybody that needs that many skill points. I'm sure they have more characters planned out that eat skill points if they're making that the focus of her kit though. I have been using Hanya and her skill point refund has been more than enough for standard teams that use 1 skill point per action. I feel like HSR has been giving us way too many Harmony characters so far. I want more healers/tanks with unique mechanics.

This is why I’m passing on her, my 3 most used teams are SP neutral to SP positive. Even without Hanya, I wasn’t really hurting for SP due to Luocha being in every party already.
I didn’t care for dragon dan, and never built Qingque even tho I have her at E6, and none of the other characters I like need more then 0-1 SP a turn

Yeah she will probably be great for very specific teams (IL for now I guess), but not much use outside that.
I'll still pull for her though because she is cute.
Personally I would like a defence down character with more versatility outside of just that (damage output or buffing party members). I find myself not having room in my main party for defence debuff characters.

Acheron's kit leaked today, looks like she's another DoT character with an instant kill field skill, lol. Time to speedrun Simulated Universe. But yea I'm definitely rolling for Sparkle regardless of her kit, she's just fun.

Yea same, the 2.0 characters have all been easy pulls for me. I'll only get a break when they release Sunday or Adventurine, i'm not interested in either of them. Watch one of them be a good tank though, to my dismay.

Well there's Black Swan. She's got good DoT's and def down. Perfect for characters like Blade/Ratio.

So InterMusketeer InterMusketeer - looks like they removed some of Chiori's mixed scaling, seems to be just DEF now on her C6, not sure about other talents. Also reduced her Burst cost, which is always welcome. Might be fun/active to play now at least. They still do not dare go back to sweet 40 Energy, the most fun of them all.

I saw something about her burst doing 30% less damage now, effectively turning her into no more than a minor Albedo upgrade. The burst was probably not something you'd use more than once per rotation anyway, so those changes don't seem very useful. Most posts seem pretty down on her by now. They're talking about the X.5 update curse that hit Dehya too. Could just be doom posting, so we'll see how she ends up working in practice.

I really don't like her anti-synergy with Navia (which is really the only thing I cared about) and how reliant she is on cons. Apart from Navia I don't have any characters or teams she'd work in, and the future of Geo (constructs) is very uncertain. I feel like they just intentionally bricked her for no particular reason. I might go for a single pity (for real this time) and see if I can get her cheap. She's not worth more than that.

As somebody that's been "meh" on her since the design got neutered, I agree. I think I'm just gonna keep going for CR cons and disregard the .5 banners altogether. If she ends up being good for something later, I'll get her on a rerun.

Skipped on Swan, skipping on Sparkle, don't know if I can resist the call of Acheron but damn if every single one of my teams doesn't need Luocha. When will my suffering end?

Friendly reminder that weapon banners are horrible.

I ended up getting CR weapon on Genshin...after 211 wishes.

Feels really bad, I made myself farm a bit since I was on 2/2 epitome and the weapon was bond to surface, but damn, I do not have any desire to play the game whatsoever.

Did you not have the Enkanomiya event weapon? It's very competitive for Cloud Retainer and it was totally free.

Yes I did, not my happiest moment. I was bored, decided to to some pulls and ended up chasing the weapon after initial fiasco.

It's a gacha game after all, does this effect on you sometimes I guess :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I remember Luocha banner started shortly after I began playing Star Rail, and I used him in the trial and I just kept thinking that this character is broken, instant heals off turn with no SP cost, heals remove debuffs, ultimate removes buffs from enemies. And to top it all off he looks like he’s straight out of Gundam. So I pulled for him and have never regretted it once. He’s literally on every team I make. MVP for sure.

I think the second event in the game was still one of the more important lore drops about the real truth of Teyvat, and they still haven't even rerun that yet or made it available to view inside the game. (Fischl/Mona event where they meet Scaradouche). I have no clue what they're waiting for regarding revisiting old content. It's pre-baked into Star Rail that you can do limited time events anytime afterwards, you just get less rewards. It's crazy how much more QoL Star Rail has over genshin.

If I had Daniel I'd be all in on Sparkle and I never got into DoT gameplay so Swan was a somewhat easier skip despite her amazing design.

As things stand my teams all just plain need a Luocha to be better, it's a damning indictment of the state of healing in the game that he stands alone on this. Gallagher's kit doesn't indicate a change coming any time soon either, though can't expect much from a 4 star.

Will say I'm also waiting for Jingliu rerun too...

You were smart, I made the rookie mistake of pulling for Blade over him, since I already had Bronya. Have regretted it ever since.

That's fair. I have Luocha but I only use him in my Blade team. I feel like Blade without Luocha is an exercise in frustration.

My biggest want on a rerun is Fu Xuan's Light Cone. She is an amazing single slot sustain character, and her light cone gives her some healing outside of her Ult, energy regen for her ult, and even a damage buff to the party. Crazy how much value Fu Xuan is in general. Not to mention it's unusually hard to find good Preservation LC's.

Honestly wouldn't be terrible if she went straight to standard. It's gonna suck to wait for her but at least I won't have to waste wishes on her.

I’m trying to figure this party out, Raiden, Mona, bennet, Jean.
Both bennet and Mona want 4pc NO. But the buff won’t stack and there doesn’t really seem to be great replacements for either that I’ve seen. Tenacity could work for bennet for his healing I guess.
The idea is to set up Raidens burst, so I want to make the most of both bennet and Mona. Tenacity won’t really help with that for bennet at least.

If all you wanna do is boost Shogun I wouldn't use that team. It's a good team for general content but it's not gonna give you that big dick number that you want.

If you want to max her Burst, you want something like:

Shogun/Sara/Nahida/Sucrose. Or if you don't have Nahida, use YaoYao/Dendro Traveler/Collei/Baizhu.

Basically making an enemy Quickened buffs her damage a LOT, and I think the shred from Electro Swirl would give more damage than benny's ATK buff due to diminishing returns, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Sara is a pocket buffer essentially for Shogun and sometimes Keqing, that's her only real use. Extra bonus if/when you get her to C6.

Adding a bit here too, you can use Jean in the team comp I just described, but she doesn't give EM like Kaz/Sucrose does, and Sucrose can use craftable Prototype Amber catalyst to be a pseudo healer. Just more things to consider.

*edit*

A few more official arts for birthdays/valentines looks like:

I don’t have Nahida, and I likely never will. No matter how good she is lol. I basically only pull if I like the design, then I try to make whatever I have the best it can be.

I keep reading how basically Kujo Sara is garbage until C6. So it’s put me off investing in her, I have C2 I think.

Is Quicken better than doing blom/hyper bloom?
My default team for that is Raiden, Yelan, Kokomi, DendroMC

Oh I did forget about Sucroses EM share. Hmmm interesting

Yaoyao or Baizhu makes the team a little more comfy with the healing.

At C6 she gets a flat 60% electro damage specific crit damage bonus. Perfect for screenshot build Shogun. Before that, she gives attack like Bennett but in your case will also give electro resonance for additional ER/more particles for Shogun.

Hyperbloom is probably superior over time and requires less stringent setup, but you specifically said to max out Raiden's burst, so that's the criteria I was using.

People sleep on her a lot, but she's very flexible and easy to use, and like I said, can function as a pseudo healer for teams that don't need dedicated heals.

Nice, good info, feel better about some choices I’ll make now lol. May also need to give Sara a second look. Sucrose to 90 it is lol.

UHHHHHHHH yes
Just got Cloud Retainer!!!! 🥳🤩😎🤓

the desert area in Sumeru gave me the push I needed. I had almost given up hope and even started dipping into Fontaine a bit. Damn, so nice.
now I will put everything else on hold and build her up.

Now that I have my map character. I really don’t know what I will save for next, but one thing is certain I won’t be playing as much lol. Between the Raiden grind and the CR grind, I’m ready for a slight break. So it’s perfect that FF7Rebirth is just around the corner.

Arlecchino kit. She's a HP drain character. 🤮 🤮 🤮

Man I can't wait til Natlan when we can hopefully leave the HP loss mechanic bullshit forever. Cross our fingers they don't come up with something even less fun.

Machine translation from CN orignal:
WoEwkey.jpeg

Some guy tried to explain it more naturally in english:
E: Something like stance change(?), which drains her HP and if it reaches a certain threshold then she loses that form (but it will always stay up for xx seconds)

Q: I don't understand does this mean her form with E is mostly single target but Q makes it AOE?

Talent: triggering this overload (I'm assuming it's like Nilou's bloom cores), buffs its damage; if her HP is higher than this threshold then her E CD is reduced (like not plunging with Xianyun's EEE); burst level+1

C2: triggering that overload reduces pyro res

C4: no idea might be ER*

C6: E has more explosions (which is probably locked behind Q pre-c6?)

Edit: thank you for the clarifications, if it's true then we might have two burst animations
To me it sounds like her Burst works like Childe's. If you are in regular mode, it does damage vs. 1 enemy, if you're in the hp drain stance, it does AoE.

And we can't even use her with Furina, which is the only way the HP drain would have had any kind of positive effect.

I don't really understand what her kit does. So she can change her stance depending on whether you're fighting single targets or groups of enemies, but what does her E even do? Is it just enhanced damage or something? Infusion? Maybe it's cool in practice when you see the DMG numbers and animations and stuff, but for now it sounds really simplistic.

Arle herself was a disappointment already within the story (design doesn't do much for me either) so if her kit sucks too that's an easy skip. Not an issue by itself, but two busts in a row is pretty concerning. Guess the streak had to come to an end after Navia and CR.
