Xenoblade coming to the U.S. via Gamestop Exclusive (also avail on Nintendo.com)

I'm happy we're actually getting this. I do wish we'd get the same treatment for other games as well.

Another Code R, Pandora, The Last Story, Disaster, Fatal Frame IV along with Fortune Street, Xenoblade and Rhythm Heaven would give the Wii one hell of a send off...

If only my bizarro dream-world were reality. :(

As nice as Another Code R and Disaster would be, I don't think there's even remote hope for them. My passed over pick would be NPC Pikmin 2, which I think the only shot for at this point is probably as a preorder bonus for Pikmin 3 or something.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
This news actually makes me a bit more likely to buy Wii U, if that makes any sense.

I'm serious, you Americans who imported the game better not go "Oh, but I already imported it, too bad" and not buy a US version.

I don't want Nintendo coming back and saying: "But the game didn't sell nearly as good as in Europe or Japan." When there's another game we don't get.

YOU BUY THIS GAME, the US version, HERE. I'm serious.

If I get the internship I interviewed for today then I'll be able to afford fifty bucks to buy a second copy of Xenoblade

Don't forget about The Last Story and Pandora's Tower.

My guess is that North America probably gets The Last Story too.

Not sure about Pandora though...I don't think many people will be buying that, regardless where it gets released.

It would be pretty shitty to not buy this after criticising NOA so much for not bringing it. I don't care if you already imported, put your money where your mouth is. Absolutely no excuses.

I wish all the people who've played the game would shut up about trailer spoilers. It's not a spoiler until you tell me I'm being spoiled!

If the brass was only willing to release the game online and through Gamestop, I'm guessing someone in the chain of command had to pull some strings to get it released at all. The fact that they're specifically marketing it as a niche release also means that it may very well have been in response to Operation Rainfall. Now, hopefully it sells well enough to encourage them to do the same sort of thing in the future with other titles that may (supposedly) lack mass market appeal.

All that said... should I cancel my Amazon preorder?

Pandora seems like a very interesting Metroidvania-esqe game. I figure it'll appeal to those types of gamers, which seems to be a fading audience. ):

The localisation (tip of the cap) by NoE was excellent. Honestly, all they need to do is change some s's to z's and it's done. If they're keeping the British voices, mate, lad, etc. should remain anyway so no worries on any of the occasional slang terms such as that.

GiantBomb article confirming it is at least "based off" that version (no surprise given the trailer using the NoE dub):

Nintendo said "throughout North America", last time I checked, Canada is part of North America.

Seriously, change the thread title. PLEASE.

The press release said US >_>

Xenoblade Chronicles will be available exclusively through U.S. GameStop retail locations, http://www.gamestop.com and http://www.nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the United States.

Unless you can get in through Nintendo of Canada or something

Xenoblade GOTY 3 years running.

I imported my copy, and shit, I will buy it again just to get the message across that we need more of these games to come here.

Though, at first I noticed that April "made sense" since it was after Final Fantasy XIII-2, Mass Effect 3, etc.

But seems that it was also because Monster Hunter Tri was released on April 2010 and did a little over 100k copies...and there was also the deal with Gamestop that had the game for $5 less and also gave you 500 points for the Wii Shop.

Maybe they're aiming to have at least half those numbers if anything; guess we'll see.

This is good news, but wow, dunno if its gonna sell at all with this kind of treatment.

Glad I modded the Wii and bought the Euro version, being able to install games was a revelation.

UPDATE: While it may go without saying, we checked in with Nintendo about whether Xenoblade: Chronicles would come here featuring the same translation that accompanied the European version.

"The game will be based on the version that launched in Europe," said the company in a statement.

That leaves some wiggle room for some changes, but don't expect any drastic differences.

I'm definitely buying it again.. The only hassle is unloading my PAL copy.

It would be awesome if someone in the OpRainfall/Homebrew community could figure out a way to convert the PAL save to an American one...

So are there going to be any nice thick strategy guides (preferably in English; can get a Japanese one this summer) available when the game releases?

Big massive games like these deserve guides with pictures of all the armor and beasties we get to inflict random numbers on to.

I'll buy it to support the cause; played the Japanese version previous and my god was it worth getting a second Wii for.

If lackluster sales keep Nintendo from doing something like this again, users will only have themselves to blame. It won't affect me as I'm perfectly fluent in Moonspeak, but people should realize that there's potentially a lot on the line with the outcome of this one.

Shit, if you assume all of the upcoming RPGs for 2012 are launched in the first six months, Xenoblade is actually entering a quite crowded battleground.

- Final Fantasy XIII-2
- Mass Effect 3
- Tales of Graces F
- Tales of the Abyss
- Ni No Kuni
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- The Last Story (I think this was rumored to launch in February for Europe)
- Final Fantasy Type-0
- Monster Hunter Tri G
- Pandora's Tower

Maybe that promotion is to help make it stand out compared to the more known franchises that may launch within that window.

What system are they re-releasing Tales of the Abyss for? Also, Tales of Graces F is for PS3, right?

Grab one (Pro), they are magical.
How much are they? I'm pretty tight on money right now, and I barely play any Wii games as it is.

Send an e-mail to Nintendo to ask if the game will only release in the US and not Canada.

Interestingly, there's now a Wii U option in the e-mail support section.
