Halo: Reach |OT7| What are They to Say Now?

Got my support.

Posted?
Because everyone put you on the ignore list, I going to be respond to your link. I like it. First it confirms some facts of the books(No random slipspace jump) and it is a nice recap.

Last year 343i released nearly same videos about major Halo-Characters and some major events of the Halo campaign before the E3. People believed that would've been because of Halo 4. Somehow they were right? Maybe we will see a recap of every the 3 main Halos and then we get our Halo 4 information. OMG HALO 4 OMG H4LO! lol.

Don't you try to defend that nonsense, you! I can see what you're trying to do here!
I'm just doing it for you.

343 Guilty Spark impression. (Me screwing around with Audacity for a possible HBO project.)

You should see my recording setup: a Rock Band USB mic held up by a headphone stand with a homemade pop filter in front of it (made with copper wire and pantyhose).
The HBO project sounds awesome. I should find a mic and try to speak some lines. And you sound really like GS. Only the "accent"(or the ending of the lines) disturbs the illusion.

I have cleansed myself for the waters of Lake Minnetonka.

I'm supposedly pretty good at impersonating Halo 2-era Truth, but there's just something in his voice I can't quite get to. Nevertheless, I think my Prophet voice is pretty cool. :lol

Reach population was pretty packed yesterday night, around 120.000 and 130.000. Usually it hovers between 80.000 and 90.000 in the weekend. Is there any reason for the increase?

Hey guys, I'm finally playing Reach after ODST left me so cold that I didn't even wanted to touch the franchise for a while.

Real elites around, feels good man!

Can't wait to jump to MP as soon as I'm done with the campaign.

You should probably get up to date with the TU changes before hopping into matchmaking. I can imagine all the new settings could be pretty confusing to a new player.

Reminds I accidentally played vanilla reach yesterday, as I thought team slayer was TU, anyway long story short, OH MY GOD, never again.

Also did you send them my regards?

I heard you guys talking in terror as you were playing it :p

And ofcourse I did ;)

Excellent, you make a great messenger!

You will be needed in the weeks and months ahead.

On a serious note, why the hell do people quit when they are only 1 down in an objective game? What kind of moronic reasoning is that?

Some of my favourite and memorable games in halo are the comeback games, regardless of whether we do actually win or not.

I don't blam them for having fun in that playlist, sure it may seem cheap but the reason I love Halo are all the different play styles.

P.S: FUCK EVADE!

I hate zombies, honestly i know its regarded as the "wrong" opinion but id much rather Zombies/Griffball and everything got demoted back to weekend playlists. They stayed "fresh" their and i actually had some interest in playing them.

Now i see them as nothing but playlists that detract player count from other and in my mind more important playlists like TO,TS and BTB.

I'm with StalkerUKCG on this.

I love when developers don't listen to their fans!

Like 343 Industries hasn't already been doing exactly that to the detriment of game balance. *sigh*

With 343 Industries' inability to implement simple changes (such as altering the daily credit limit in Reach) without bugs in already existing, already working systems, how many do you think await us in Halo 4?

They could direct the player population to lists through incentive. Halo 3 had special weekend playlists, so there was definitely a motivation to "use it before you lose it", but those lists also offered an in-game player investment incentive of double EXP. Bungie introduced cR jackpots in Reach, and it did have a very significant, visible effect on the population of lists in which it was employed.

Seriously, have 343 ever thought the reason people hate objective so much is because of damn evade aka "teleport switch"

I don't think that's the reason. TO has had low population numbers since Halo 3 (perhaps since halo 2 too, didn't play that). Evade is in a lot more playlists like BTB and Multi Team which have healthy populations. People just want to mindlessly kill each other.

Then why the butthurt? People don't "hate objective so much is because of damn evade".

I'm just mad because of how broken it is, funny how Bungie removed Drop Shield and added an even worse ability.

It's even worse on small maps, everybody blindly tossing nades and evading the fuck out of there.

We've been asking evade to be removed for over a year.
You're missing my point. Listening to the fans isn't the problem here, it's a lack of attention to detail on the part of 343 Industries.

I agree with you that evade is an over-powered ability in certain contexts and should be removed from objective, but I'm skeptical we'll see such a change because "REMOVE EVADE FROM TO" isn't anywhere near as commonplace a plea as "REMOVE BLOOM" was.

We were able to show how Drop Shield had a specific negative impact on Objective games - which facilitated its removal when it was brought to light (even though it did take a while).

It's not that easy to show the same impact with Evade or any other Armour Ability.

Are you talking about the image Ghal posted, it was on Boardwalk and there were lots of bubbles everywhere. It's really sad we have to demostrate how broken something is before they even decide to remove it. When Reach launched evade was elite specific and it was fine.

Maybe they added it to speed up games s bit, now we have reduced bloom and bt I see no reason to keep it there anymore.

That's the thing. If you want to convince somebody of something you need evidence. We could shout about all the anecdotal stuff here until we're blue in the face and nothing would be done about it.

I'm not saying anything is certain either, but if you want to see something "fixed" it might be a good idea to be able to prove that it's broken in the first place.

BTW I fully agree about Evade and it's bad influence in the gameplay. I just really dislike Armour Abilities and simply dislike intensely how they've impacted Halo. The double blow of bloom and AA in Reach was so... souring.

It's silly that we have to prove something is bad, instead of showing a better alternative. This is probably why I had issues with Shishka and soon to be(maybe) 343i.

Yeah, did you guys had to bring him to a lobby and play a CTF match on Valhalla so he'd realize that fusion coil shouldn't be there? that'd have been amazing.

People Sword/Shotgun/Hammer evading into your face from across the map, is that broken enough?

I have also seen people propelling themselves from ramps into the outer space and literally teleport themselves from A to B ala Dragon Ball, now try to hit them while you wait for your reticle to shrink.

BEST FPS EVER

The problem with folks like ourselves here online is that we automatically assume our suggested alternatives are better, without really knowing if they would be or not. They'd be better for us sure, since we're suggesting them, but there's no real way for us to know beyond our forums or communities (and even then such places rarely reach a census).

When our suggestions get ignored but then start asking why and when we fail to get a response we throw up our hands and say, "See! They don't listen to us!". How many suggestions does HaloGAF generate? And HBO? And the Bungie/Waypoint forums? And other Halo communities? How many do they have to address specifically before we consider them listening to us? Just our suggestions here on HaloGAF? And which suggestions?

And seriously, the harassment we level towards the playlist management is a joke at times and I'm glad the days of a few years back are done and dusted.

Bungie were very attentive when Reach came out. Just look at the change lists for the updates. 343 came in and and continued that with the TU addressing the bloom situation. I still think they need to work at it and continue updating Reach over the next year to address the community that has persistently stayed with the game.

Folks can be all to quick to pull the "they aren't listening" card when they don't get their way.

The fusion coil exploit was known to Bungie within a couple days of it exploding. It just took a bit for the fix to go live since it was discovered right after they had deployed a playlist update, and it wasn't critical enough to issue an emergency fix for.

There were a few other seperate issues though, that I made annoying posts about on Optimatch and got them fixed within a couple of updates by providing films and screenshots like I was filing an actual bug report, with repro cases and technical descriptions. Of course, I also spent those threads defending why the fix should go out from people that wanted the exploit to remain.

The last one being finally having the base open box locked to the ground on Last Resort objective gametypes. Oh man, there was LOUD people that wanted the exploit to remain.

Of course, we've shown videos, film, and screenshots of the broken bleedthrough health bug, but that still hasn't been fixed and we're still stuck with bleedthrough in TU gametypes. I'd be more open to playing TU gametypes if they'd just delete the damn bleedthrough. Or just delete health packs from all TU maps since they're pointless to use, along with the player feedback.

So, I've been playing around with Custom Challenges and I've come across yet another economy-breaking element, perhaps even worse than the first one I came across (Custom Campaign Challenges + ONI Target Locator Checkpoint).

You can bypass the daily cR limit.

To review, 343 Industries broke the in-game functionality of the daily cR limit when it attempted to raise it in early December. Since then, you still stop earning cR when you've earned 120,000 in a single day, just as you did before, only now the game will not tell you that you've hit the limit, it will still show post-game cR earnings (but not add them to your total), and it will not advance your commendations whatsoever as long as it behaves this way. Apparently, if you continue and earn enough of these "off-the-books" credits, you will reach a point (tens of thousands of cR later) where the game will finally give you the in-game message "Daily cR Limit Reached" and you re-gain the ability to advance commendations.

So, not only are players still capped as they were before, the game now behaves in these broken, confusing ways as a bonus.

On to using Custom Challenges to exceed the limit...

All that one must do in order to have their Custom Challenge credits not count towards the daily limit is to redeem them in-game on a date later than when they were awarded. I'll provide an example:

It's 6:00 p.m. local time. Over the course of 2.5 hours, you create and complete a series of Custom Challenges with a 3 hour limit that total 150,000 cR. You then shut off your Xbox 360. The last of your Custom Challenges will be awarded no later than 11:30 p.m. local time. When you turn your Xbox 360 back on and boot Halo: Reach at 12:01 a.m., local time, all 150,000 cR are added to your total and they DO NOT count towards your new current daily (broken) cR limit of 120,000 cR.

If you exceed the cR limit with a custom challenge on the current date, the game will actually award and then take back the cR. I created a new account to test these systems and had to laugh when I saw the progress bar move backwards after a game.

Contact Xbox support over the phone. Remove any CC attached to your account (if you can) and be prepared for a long wait to fix the situation.

Will do. My purchase history says I purchased 'PREMIUM GOLD PACK' and 'GOLD PLAYERS PREMIUM' on the 13th. I did not do that, nor do I have any idea what those are.

This this this now. Especially the CC number. Especially if your bank account is attached to the card.

Also check your download history.

edit: you just got FIFA hacked. Change all your passwords. You probably have achievements for FIFA now as well (maybe)

Change your password and password forgot question asap!

Whats the best way to avoid being fifa hacked? I assume not playing the game?

Nobody is sure, but MS's account security is total shit. And if you play any EA game, you have an EA account, not just FIFA. Just maintain separate passwords for everything and watch your account and financial transactions.

Basically this, most people in the internet (specially those who don't voice themselves in forums) don't even know what they're playing and will play whatever you throw at them, even if it is seriously broken.

Why do you think Sword Base was the most voted map in the LD playlist? it was because that exploit. I see Parasitic (Zealot's infection variant) being voted a lot now, curiously they just discovered an easilly explotaible spot on that map.

Will people come to complain to the forums if evade is ever removed? Sure, it was their favorite
most abusable
ability.
But most of the player base will love the change, evade haters will be satisfied and casual players won't probably notice any change.

We're really doing them a favour, sure some of our ideas aren't always the best solution, we've to respect how the game was intended to play but some things just yell "BROKEN SHIT!" by themselves.

it'd be nicer from Microsoft to actually address/fix the exploit but yeah, that's fine too.

I wouldn't expect less from a paid service :/

Luckily Parasitic has a fix coming through. I feel bad for missing that one.

Really wish they'd delete the vanilla maps from Infection though.

Really? Where did you get the information?

Really wish they'd delete the vanilla maps from Infection though.
Wouldn't that be the end of the Living Dead playlist? I remember your tweets with links to Waypoint forums where people complained that the new maps don't have any spots where they can hide and get easy kills.

Make sure you get some friends (preferably a full team) when you hop in. Much, much more enjoyable experience.

I was getting sick of Reach, then I did a friends list clean out and got some people who still played Reach. I have a new love for the game.

Me too. Do we know why they didn't remove them?

Does 343's Playlist manager activity engage with the community like Shishka (somewhat) and Jeremiah did over on BNet?

I know they have this account called "MM systems team" over on Waypoints who it doesn't seem like they interact with the community.
