The 7000 series is cutting-edge stuff, so yeah, anything with a 7 at the beginning is good news.
I'm expecting 1080p and a lot of DX11.
Except when it comes out in 2013 it is no longer cutting edge but one generation behind.

I don't get it, a few months ago we get a rumor that MS held a gathering at Disney Land after E3 to get feedback from the developers, and now they already have the final hardware in production and plan to wait almost 2 years before launching?
Something doesn't sound right about any of this. Maybe they are producing early dev kits for developers?
What about this rumour from OPM. Is Sony's console going to be more powerful? 9xxx series? Or may be Sony will go third party as this woman from Gaikai predicted.
I'M CONFUSED SO MANY RUMOURS.
Sony will undoubtedly release later so it's safe to assume, like the th PS3, it will have a (tiny) edge on the new Xbox.
9xxx series? Seriously, where the hell have you heard that? We won't even hear of the 8xxx cards for at least 12 months.. don't kid yourself.
Also, those rumours came from a PlayStation magazine. Of course they're going to say it's more powerful.
Except when it comes out in 2013 it is no longer cutting edge but one generation behind.

I want the 2012 rumours to come back.
I honestly can't imagine playing my consoles at all in 2013. If it's CHRISTMAS 2013? Fucking hell...

It is actually a huge argument among mathematicians that different infinite sets can be larger than other infinite sets.Well, if they make a 4th console afterwards, what would be bigger than Infinity?
For a console, a half-decent 7xxx will do the job just fine. Devs already surprise us with amazing graphics on tech 7 years old.
Isn't that what the article is saying? Dev kits around march, final mass production silicon at the end of the year.
Better than 2 generations behind
Except that chip is supposedly using a 45nm SoI process and will be produced in IBM's East Fishkill plant. Then again, one of the lead engineers working on the project immediately switched from the Wii U CPU to a 32nm GPU VLSI project.Doesn't that sound suspiciously similar to their press release for the Wii U CPU? Interesting indeed.

From what I understand, no third parties have even first-release (evaluation) devkits yet, essentially we're 2 years out at this point.
I want the 2012 rumours to come back.

Not really, it will end up just like the 360 launch when it comes to the games. It will be a bunch of 360 games that got pushed back and will release on the new platform in 1080p/60FPS with some other enhancements too.
IBM doesn't make x86 family chips, yo.So the CPU will be x64, 4GB+ of memory confirmed?
was it that bad in 2005? damn
MS doesn't have rumors. They have leaks. So leaky.
I didnt mean Xbox games getting pushed to 360 with those specs. I meant thats how we will probably see things this time though from 360 games going to the new system. My bad on the wording of that

Last example doesn't really work as both designs were completed almost simultaniously if SemiAccurate is to be believed.[Nintex];34372185 said:IBM used what they learned developing the Cell CPU to develop the Xbox 360 CPU.

I am expecting a Fall 2013 releaseI doubt this. I first saw a 360 eval kit in late 2003, early 2004 (kinda fuzzy on the exact date), obviously back then middleware wasn't so pervasive so there was a lot more of a need for lead time in order to spec out broad engine capability, but I'd be very very surprised if they are aiming to launch before Q3 2013.

ding ding dingThe only thing 7000 series means in this context is that it would use the GCN architecture (which makes sense). It says absolutely nothing about performance.
was it that bad in 2005? damn
I think it won't feel as bad this time around as back then a lot of games still were not very sound technically or artistically whereas nowadays plenty of studios are putting out good looking games and are creating the master art assets for 1080p anyways.
Oh I see, in that case I miscomprehended the majority of that article.
A 7770 or 7850 equivalent is really exciting considering the PS3 is only running a ham strung 7900GT and the Xbox gpu is even slightly less powerful than it.
did earlier 360 games run @ 60 fps? I'm honestly curious.
So, how does this compare to the Wii U's rumored specs? Is it more along the lines of the Wii to Xbox 360 level of disparity or the Gamecube to xbox 1 level?

Perfect Dark Zero ran like shit(15fps at times), PGR3 was 30fps, Need for Speed: Most Wanted had some sort of bug and hardly hit 30fps either.
Makes more sense, but still not enough. I don't believe it will be based on DirectX 11, I'm still holding out on DirectX 12.
It's like these articles cater to what we discuss on the forums. lol
Other specs were under-powered and the system had an early release date, these are okay based on what we debated last time.
were xbox games pushed to 360 with 720p @ 60 fps?
GPU less powerful on 360 what???
There has been no mention of DirectX 11, there's DirectX 11.1 instead and I don't see it changing any time soon.
Nirolak said:This is architecture only, not performance.
It would have a notably more robust feature set as it's full DX11 complaint and the Wii U is DX10.
