Resident Evil 6: Bro-Splosion Announced, Nov 20 PS3/360, PC Later, PR/Trailer In OP

He's not so bad if you use the knife, although I had no idea about that back in January/February 2005 and he killed me 100 times.

I used the knife after finally freaking out and stunlocking him with the fully upgraded Blacktail (I had literally no health at this point, was backed against the far wall, and he was right in my face) and finished him off, and then died when the tower exploded when I was an inch away from the exit. Took every bit of willpower not to throw my Wii out a window.

There also seems to be some cross contamination with the godawful films. If so it looks like the cats out of the bag now, and we're moving into post apocalyptic territory. So without a reboot if it continues along this line from a story stand point there's maybe one more game. Which I guess will be Leon as a Mad Max/Omega Man/Children of Men type as he escorts some chick across the wasteland to the last human city.

sounds good lol

Leon? They already have Mad Max Chris in RE5.

Sherry Birkin was abducted by Wesker at the end of RE 2, same with Steve's corpse, So I wouldn't be too surprised if those two went rogue after Wesker's demise (if it does take place after 5) either way, I'm excited. Looks like the Leon sections will be more of classic RE wheras Chris will place more emphasis on the action horror from RE4/5 they they've been trying to nail.

She was not abducted by Wesker.

Not really. Darkside Chronicles pretty much retconned and downplayed the interaction between Claire and Sherry anyway. For instance, it shows that Leon accepted to work for the special force because the government have Sherry. It's obviously a retcon as Wesker was supposed to have taken her according to the Wesker Report that came with RECV.

Not a retcon per say. They just tweaked what Wesker actually meant. Also, the re-telling scenarios in the Chronicles games are not canon, they don't retcon anything.

http://www.projectumbrella.net/articles/INSIDE-BIOHAZARD-DARKSIDE-CHRONICLES

The daughter of William and Annette who was 12 years old in 1998. Blood type is O. Her parents gave priority to their research, and because they did not show much love to Sherry, she grew to be a child who seldom shows feelings to others. However, while fleeing in the police department, Leon and Claire stretched out their helping hands to Sherry and she gradually opened her heart, in particular she values the jacket she received from Claire as a lucky charm after the incident.

On the day of the incident, Sherry left school early following a telephone call from her mother who foresaw the situation that would arise in the town, and took the necklace in which the G-Virus was hidden in under Annette's lead and evacuated to the police department. However the police department had already become a den of zombies and she had to keep fleeing alone until she met Leon.

Sherry was targeted by the Tyrant which was trying to capture the G-Virus and her father William, who became "G" which needed a person with identical genetic information to breed. She was caught by G when she got separated from Leon, and was implanted with an embryo, but it did not go out of control because Leon and Claire succeeded in the refinement of a vaccine.

However, it is not necessarily possible to say that it was best for her to be rescued. Because she retained the G-Virus antibody, she became a valuable person. She was protected with Leon by the U.S. Army, and was confined by the government, where she spent days being observed as a research subject.

The daughter of William Birkin who was the developer of the G-Virus. In "Memory of a Lost City" she is protected by Leon and Claire. Her father became G, and she was pursued because of its family preservation instinct and implanted with an embryo, but she was saved by the vaccine which they obtained in the Umbrella Underground Laboratory. However, the bacteria in Sherry's body was not killed, and she was placed under observation by the United States Government as an important carrier of G. The reason why Leon works as a member the United States secret military agency is because Sherry was taken as a kind of hostage. In addition, subordinate agents of Albert Wesker are also present in the department monitoring Sherry, and she is in a doubly dangerous position.

Oh yeah, the Facebook for Operation Raccoon City confirms that blondie is Ashley.

Of course, Slant Six know dick in general, so it could quite possibly be wrong too.

I really loved playing RE4, RE5 was fun with co-op, but story-wise not so much. I am really curious about RE6. Kinda love it that a part will take place in Hong Kong (what I can tell from the trailer). :)

Remember the LP2 announcement video on XBL? That's how you announce a game, huge info dump, set to real-time gameplay footage. Straight out of the gate.

Kudos to everyone who remembers the original thread this picture is from.

Meh, I'm fine with the reveal they gave to us. They've given us a lot of info and gave us a release date this year as well as the platforms. So far we have a lot to talk about and speculate about. GDC, E3 and TGS will all have new info revealed about the title before the game comes out soon. It's much better than in the past where we would've gotten a 30 second teaser and told it's very far off(meaning 2-3 years).

The fact it's closer makes me all the more itchy about it. The trailer says a lot, maybe everything we need to know, but just not clearly. I'm excited about it, but I just want that confirmation that when solo you aren't dealing with an AI partner, then my hype can run wild as nature intended.

I'm fine with the reveal they gave us because the trailer was fantastic and not some over-produced CGI teaser, had a lot of gameplay footage, and with a release date announced-- not 3 years from now-- but 10 months.

I would say they pretty much went down the checklist of how to properly reveal a game.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Restarted a game of RE5 with my roommate (he never finished the game) last night, and got up to Chapter 3.

Yep, the game is still awesome fun in co-op. I really hope they don't shy away from campaign co-op in RE6. It's just too much fun in RE5.

One thing I'll say is that Capcom is looking pretty smart right now if they've mixed up the gameplay in order to cater to both sides of the coin. If you've got a more atmospheric experience with Leon on one side with traditional Zombies and BOWS, and Las Plagas insanity with Chris on the other, with new character being somewhere in the middle, there's the potential to please everyone.

It's also DLC heaven. I know my money will be taken early and often for Barry/Rebecca/Claire chapters.

Let me just say that this gif is basically what I wanted out of RE6:

So, at least I'm getting that much. The rest of the game is up in the air though.

Were there any notable technical differences between the PS3/360 versions of RE5? I'm thinking about getting the 360 version as one of my friends is a big RE nut and wants to play co-op, even though I've platinum'd the game twice on PS3 >_<

This, and it's a smart way to keep both "directions" (more traditional/RE4) intact and blended together so that they both feel "canon" if you know what I mean. That's one reason I really like the direction as one of my biggest hopes after RE4 was that they would find a way to take the new story direction and blend it with what came before. RE6 seems like it's going to hugely achieve this which will help me appreciate RE4 beyond just being a really good game.

360 version of 5 is better. Better IQ and performance, but a tad of screentear I believe.

Yeah I just read the screen tearing is only really noticeable during cutscenes. Now if I can just find a copy. May have to order online. Didn't see any at Gamestop the other day.

if you want play RE5 on 360, set your display resolution to 720p. At 1080p the game has a lot more screen tearing. At 720p it works well.

Was just about to post this. I started it on 1080p and it had the most screen tearing I have ever seen. 720p is fine.

360 is better. Higher, more stable framerate and almost no slowdowns in big crowds of enemies. After I sold x360 and bought ps3 with re5, I was like WTF? That was serious downgrade after playing a lot of 360 version.

That works out, I don't have a 1080p unit :p

I haven't played the 360 version (outside of the demo) but there's one chapter later on that was really bad, chapter 5-3 on the slowly rising platform.

One thing I want out of this game: uncensored deaths again. If I can't see Leon getting his head cut/ripped off, this game has failed.

Yeah, RE5 was so dissapointing in that regard. Except the QTE death scenes and kills by Reapers and Duvalia all death scenes in RE5 were really lame. Hope that RE6 delivers in that regard.

You also see them pounce on Leon, they're clearly not the same slow Zombies from the older RE games.

T-Virus was able to create those monstrosities back in 1996.
QLxnD.jpg

I'm sure it can do more to mere humans ten years later.

And do anyone really expected old classic zombies (the slow ones) in RE6 game? The games mechanics (precise aiming, melee combat, strafing from RE5) would make it impossible for those zombies to create enough threat.

The G-Virus was pretty crazy, too. Goodness knows we're gonna be seeing some crazy combination of T, G and Plagas here. Probably some Uroboros too.

Actually, I'd say China is suffering from a massive Plagas outbreak, and wherever Leon is... that must be T/G. And things will get crazy from there.

I just want better mechanics. The production values for an RE game is always going to be through the roof. The only thing that prevented RE5 from being a complete abortion was the myriad of modes, content and replayability that a lot of their unlocks provided, but at the end of the day it was just a lot of style over substance because the mechanics were just awful. Terrible kiting A.I logic--squeeze off shots until they get close, 180 turn, create distance, 180 turn, fire--this strategy worked on 90% of the enemies in the game and the boss fights involved fucking turrets and QTE to make up for a lack of mobility.

Survival horror be damned--if RE6 is just a really fun game to play then we're in for a treat. It's going to be packed with content and well supported for sure.

Im not talking about the zombies

-RE 6 looks fast paced and action focused like L4D
-Has giant fat zombies like L4D
-Subway level like L4D

Or rather:
- RE6 looks fast paced and action focused like RE4 and RE5
- Has giant fat zombies like RE5 (and RE4 if you include JJ and El Gigante)
- Subway level like Outbreak
I cheated here :p
(I don't remember any moving trains in L4D anyway)

Seriously, why do people try so hard to point that this game is not just a next step in RE evolution and instead tries to copy CoD, Gears of Wars or L4D?

360 version is superior in every way from what I've seen. And thanks for reminding, now I'm going to be stuck waiting for PS3 RE6 footage in hopes that the PS3 version isn't an unplayable mess.

I bet you even get to fight them in the subway.

Also, pipe-weilding zombies are nothing new for the series:
