14. Halo: Combat Evolved

That's the thing, I don't have much interesting to say lol. I just read it often and react to a bunch of shit. lol

I think that's all any of us do...

Man, sniping in 3 is so much harder than Reach, pretty mind blowing how different they feel.

I just wish this game had hit scan/better hit detection, only thing holding it back.

Whats wrong with having elevation in the radar?

Because it's scrub stuff. It amazed me how much I relied on it just now, I was in the middle tower area of HG and I immediately thought the guy was on the same level as me because of the color. It removes any element of surprise you can have with radar, which isn't much to begin with.

Nearly every playlist uses the superior gametypes, we can't leave Team Slayer behind. Good players admit that the TU settings are far better and more fun, and it actually rewards skill instead of luck. There's also a new feature introduced which is called fast gameplay. Vote yes!

Its too fast sometimes (getting one shot/three shot from three different people in a 8v8 on that Tombstone map) and with normal xbox live lag things start to look and act very weird.

I dont find TU more enjoyable or less enjoyable than Vanilla. Still should be seperated into its own section and the original Reach should be left to how it was.

Shitty fucking game^ nothing was making any sense, I spawned behind a immobile crouching guy shot him five times with pistol, red bar, turns around and 3 shots me, yet I had host...WTF is that shit!?

Hang Em High has always been a shitty open map. That's not the fault of the TU gametype.

Holding the trigger down on the 6-shot kill auto-aim Needle Rifle and whipping out an unstoppable sword on fools that vote for this shit is pure, unbalanced justice.

But clearly, it's better.

the sword has been unstoppable in every other halo game, I don't know why you're complaining now

Invasion won't be switching to TU settings any time soon, will it? I think it plays fine as is, except for the occasional spawn-killing in phase one.

Sprint completely destroyed the little balance the sword had in Halo 3. I don't understand why the block was removed in playlists with sprint, at least it gave a small chance of survival to the person about to die from the sprinting guy with the sword 8 meters away.

A dude was sprinting at me with sword on Countdown. Running right at me. I'm screwed! I send out a hologram and he swings at it, which kills his sprint, slows him down and leaes him open to attack. I dropped that fool.

Feels good man.

Hopefully the Invasion Megalo gametype is so borderline on memory usage that the TU hooks push it over, and therefore can never have TU anyway. And since bleedthrough cannot be separated, it'd totally break the Elites on the first phase.

But as we all know, default Reach will remain default and there's no plans to remove Vanilla from matchmaking with two non-fringe Vanilla lists left, and depending on how the Slayer voting goes, one by March.

(posting from my iPhone, mind the grammar)
I always thought the whole sword deflection thing had something to do with the theory that energy shielding mostly works based on motion. A fast projectile like a bullet from a kinetic weapon would trigger it, while the Covenant doesn't need to worry about that because plasma tears through shielding anyway. That's also why grenades can stick to you and you can take fall damage, yet in the books you can do things like kill Sentinels using rocks. Quick (as in, barring assassinations) sword slashes are generally horizontal or vertical swipes rather than outright impalements so that the target takes the damage rather than the shielding. But when you punch back to block it, the combined speed of the melee and the swipe are enough to activate the shielding, which is why they usually only take out your shields.

you've got me on why you can do it unshielded though. Maybe in Halo 4 they'll only allow you to deflect a swipe if you're shielded?

I like Spint, and I like the sword. I think the only way to have the sword get along with sprint is to shorten the lunge range. It'd gimp non-sprinters, but the maps are so small anyways.

Or just disabling the lunge altogether while sprinting would be even better.

I still say Hologram is the best armor ability of all, when it works I feel so good, so, so good.

I just feel dirty when I kill with evade...

Happy Bday Dax
(You were part of the handful of people on GAF that wished me, so at the least I can return the good wishes, have fun)

Also I'm hoping for a landslide victory for TU, just to see reactions from our .map and halo honor folks.

You would then have a completely useless weapon. Sword is over powered for a reason and why it isn't a starting option. What you said had the same effect as me hearing, "we should make the rocket launcher be made of noodles because it can kill groups of enemies too quickly."

I think my second solution is perfectly reasonable, and I acknowledged the first would handicap non-sprinters.

What would you change?

Totally agree! Hologram wors on so many levels. The passive nature of it is the key and something I believe should be the norm for AAs.
