Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

I want something more akin to the Jinouga Blue PSP; bright white non-gloss with blue like the logo buttons on the console and the controller.

Anyone want to shop that description?

You're championing the wrong colour scheme there.

Give me black with red highlights, and my cash is yours.

Oh yes; I have read a post on here from one of our GAF brethren who works in retail to that effect. IIRC he said it was a quite common occurrence.
I'm in retail too, and I can account for more of these scenarios. While I personally don't get many cases regarding certain individuals' disability to find the syncronization button, the mass market consumer often comes to me with completely absurd questions, about video game consoles, that most people born in the 20th or 21st century should be able to answer by themselves; or by reading the manual for respective product. A crucial key for Nintendo to succeed is to make Wii U as simple as possible while maintaining a certain unique offer. They did a fairly good job with this regarding the Wii, but as the examples state, it wasn't enough.

We have been pressing the power button on the Wiimote for like 10 minutes; at the time I only had one and thought: "No, please don't tell me that I broke that thing, I don't got any money left".. and then we both noticed the obvious.

Just a few hours before, I bought a fresh and sexy copy of Brawl and my brain was overhyped at that time.

All in all, the myth of undestructable Nintendo hardware lives on in my world. :)

Ah well I can empathise with over excitement frazzling your cognitive abilities :).

At least you realised and didn't take it back to the shop*! :p

* store, for you North American types :p.

But what's the use? The sync button is still covered on the Wii remotes so people will still need a brain.

To be fair all the times I had to resync I've found reaching the buttons - both on Wii and WiiRemote - was quite a pain in the neck and the very procedure is tricky overall, I hope they fix that issue on WiiU.

Red and black is an awful colour scheme... *ducks*

GREY and black, however...

Also, the Wii U logo MUST be monochrome according to the colour of the console.

Mhm, it makes less of a statement and leaves me unimpressed.

It's uninspired, really. WHICH IS WHY we need those edges. Mmm, razor sharp bevels.

how would the wii u look if had two shades of color? perhaps...gray and purple like the snes?

I prefer the European version/Super Famicom. Though I assume this colour scheme could be interpreted as bureaucratic and drab nowadays, and probably not something you would want to slap onto Wii U. The lighter grey version as a single colour (excluding the colours of the indicator lights) could probably work however.

Indeed. Go wash you mouth.

How about a console wide achievement system that could be silenced for a better word. The game still rewards you with achievements, but if you turn them off, they happen silently, and you don't ever see your achievements unless you really look for them.

I guess that Nintendo is calling them Accomplishments instead though.

Why are you having to re-sync the controller? You should only need to do it once (and the one the comes with the system is pre-synced). If you want to use it on another console, go into the Home menu and use the Reconnect function there. You can sync to a new system temporarily without overwriting the sync to your own console.

This. I can't get my head around why people felt the need to sync all the time... my controllers connected fine from the off.

If I don't get Endless Ocean 3 somewhere at or around launch, I'm going to walk into every gamestop and knock over every magazine rack.

And I'll take 2 of the knight rider WiiU's please.

This information comes from a Ruliweb member that supposedly hunted down this info...

- Retro looking to recruit many FX Artists
- looking specifically for 3D environment artists
- Retro wants these artists to have talant for hand painted textures
- also looking for people to assist in translations for better communication with Nintendo

http://bbs2.ruliweb.daum.net/gaia/d...9/read?bbsId=G003&itemId=494&articleId=690261

So, it's more probably now that Retro is working on another DK sequel?

Justins face needs to be on the left, so the sync button can be seen as a pimple... hes in puberty so make it happen pls ;)
Joking aside, console manufacturers are kind of behind the times, they just can't design a very sleek box like we see on the PC side of things. Don't get me wrong i understand these things get produced by the millions so there's a need for this boxes to be cost effective. But it would be nice if they designed a mort elegant "premium box"
at an extra price maybe with a metal finish.

Speaking of which metal face plates for the Ucon tablet are a most. This has to happen.

How do any of those bullets points towards a DK sequel? Can't hand painted textures be applicable to other genres or franchises?

TPS set in the Days of Ruin universe confirmed

How 'bout a Valkyria Chronicles styled Advance Wars set in Days of Ruin's universe co-developed by Intelligent Systems and Overworks (or whatever the hell they call themselves nowadays). *blows his own mind*

If we're lucky... we'll get black at or near launch
not holding my breath tho. Glossy finish must be there too

The sync button really is unsightly... Aside from that, though, glossy silver and black look pretty damn good.

This news item has been linked before, but it's rather interesting, so keep it coming. Here's an excerpt from the job ad (RETRO CONTRACT - Environmental Artist (1200000011)) by the way:

Creating high quality hand painted 2D texture maps
Using advanced material and shader setups
Being versatile to different styles
Collaborating closely with team members and other departments
Complete assignments that require independent judgment and creative input while staying true to overall art direction and theme as defined by Art Director
Taking daily direction from the Art Director and Environment Art Lead
You can view it in its entirety under Current Open Positions: http://www.nintendo.com/corp/jobs.jsp#

Going by the 3DS launch we may have two different coloured SKUs on launch day. My money would be on black and white, with the black one being bought by my good self. Will match my telly and PC lol.

I REALLY don't want a white Wii U, however Stormtrooper white with black elements would be sick. Like the way the ice white 3DS looks when open.

That's not how it works with customized embedded parts. Nintendo will be able to get only parts nintendo ordered (well, unless a benefactor ordered some for nintendo). That means nintendo have to make their orders carefully fully accounting for yields at the target process, perhaps allowing for silicon redundancies to improve the odds. But those parts that end up with all transistors functional will not be re-packaged as something else and sold at a premium. IOW, binning is not an option for nintendo, like it was not an option for MS, or any other console vendor before. Well, save for Sony's Cell - that part was binnable.
Yeah, that's a pretty significant wrench in the gears right there... Wait, is that even a common expression?

...I'm clearly not thinking straight. haha

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Wouldn't be shocked at all to see Nintendo allowing Retro to do a new IP here.

i hope there is still time for ninty to change the design of the wii u to a different look. maybe, they could go retro and make it similar to the N64 or the gamecube with a few cosmetic touches here and there.

I don't know how many times its been said, but Nintendo said that what you saw at E3 was not the final product. So I'm going to take it, that the console is not what it will look like in the end.

Though, this could just be a crazy theory I made up on the spot.
