Achieve Trophies | February 2012 Thread | GraveRobber's Wrath: Reckoning

I finished my normal playthrough of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow with all the collectible trophies (including the art one). I immediately started with the trial trophies and the very hard difficulty stuff, but it stopped reading my controller right after I killed ten enemies while poisoned in chapter two, so I turned it off in disgust and took a break. I currently have 36% of all trophies, all bronzes earned (plus a couple silvers), with nothing but silvers, golds, and that platinum to obtain.

In the meanwhile, I 100%'d Beyond Good & Evil HD. Replaying it made me realize exactly how much I want a sequel. :\

I'm gonna go back and try to plow through the very hard CV game, then I'll work at the trials for a while. I'm not looking forward to it...

I have 27% on the main game, which I absolutely loved. I just can't make myself go for the trophies, as the trials and collectibles turn me off. Doesn't help that the game is so fucking long either, which is good the first time through, but when going for trophies and collectables it becomes a chore. Might try it again soon, but for now I'll finish Killzone 3 and start up AC1 and AC:R(not going to hunt trophies here).

Finally nearly done with the Assassin's Creed Revelations SP trophies. Just need to 100% sync everything and 2 or three others.

I discovered vanilla Marvel vs Capcom 3's A New Avenger trophy does not require one to complete every mission, which means platinum is well within my grasp. Seeing as my plans fell through, I'll be spending tonight grinding ranked mode (which would be less of a chore if the offline game translated at all online). I may also try for some Red Dead Redemption multiplayer trophies, but looking at the list of them reminds me why I forgo platinums in the first place.

Just finished Killzone 3 on Elite, only have to play some co-op, online in a squad and kill 1500 helghast to get the plat. I'm enjoying hunting trophies, and Elite wasn't too hard. One of the best FPS campaigns I've played, along with KZ2(haters gonna hate).

Finished what I wanted out of Killzone 2 and might start KZ3 this weekend. KZ2 had some of the coolest trophies; I earned most by simply playing and felt genuinely rewarded by them.

Argh, how boring is MGS3's platinum, you have to look a guide almost constantly. I hate collectible trophies.

Woo, got the Killzone 3 platinum! Pretty fun and easy, I feel like I'm back in the trophy groove now, might have to find another game to platinum.

Hooray just one more trophy left for Assassin's Creed Revelations platinum. And it's the level 20 online one. On level 12 at the minute so hopefully won't take too overly long!

That'll be the third platinum this month. Probably the last. Busy all this week and then it's Vita time. Don't think i'll platinum any Vita games this month!

got the Sly1 platinum a few minutes ago, pretty fun game.
now on to Sly2 and grinding some more Dead Island.

Sly 1 was awesome(but I already knew that since I had it on PS2). I also got the platinum this week. Sly 2 I never did play and I'm really not enjoying it as much. It gets really boring in most of the things you have to do. I still like it but I doubt I will want to go on to Sly 3...

yeah i hate that every chapter follows exactly the same structure. Really gets incredibly boring.

Just finished up The Darkness 2 Plat. The game was alot of fun, although it was pretty short. The plat is definitely one of the easiest i've ever done.

Finished up Heavy Rain for platinum #30. Getting it done makes me appreciate developers that let you skip through the credits so much more now.

Platinum #76 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Just managed to wrap up the last of the survival maps, having finished the Spec Ops missions yesterday. Campaign and the missions were fun enough but I can't say I liked Survival. Even the easy ones take a while to finish, so at times it's just boring.

I just started Alice: Madness Returns yesterday so hopefully that'll be my next platinum.

Yeah I'm playing on PC right now (graphics look crisp as hell) and it doesn't feel really hard. Sounds good when I'll get it on PS3 down the line. The first Darkness is one of my favourite games of this generation so I'll gladly double dip.

Finished the LOLworthy story of FFXIII this morning. Game itself is enjoyable like XIII was to me. Now to collect about 13 fragment, some Paradox endings and fight some monsters for the plat.

PS3Trophies.org has done a bit of updating. Quite a lot of Vita trophy lists.

[/QUOTE] Thnx man. Noticed that Rayman Vita has two extra Vita-exclusive trophies on the list.

I recently got the platinum for Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow making it my second platinum of 2012 after the original Splinter Cell. It was a very easy one too, most likely due to having started not long after completing the first game. I'm not sure if I'm going to jump into Chaos Theory just yet. Between the first two games, I love the first a lot more. I played it three times in a row and still enjoyed it each time. I actually want to play it again, but I feel like I should clear out my backlog a bit beforehand.

I misread that as MGS2 and was about to say that you don't, but after another glance I understand. I always had a couple guides and a checklist open through MGS3. It was an easy platinum, but not very satisfying.

Working on Soul Calibur V at the moment. Seemed daunting at first, but I've done all the misc trophies and the legendary souls trophy, so i now only have to do the online ones (when Sky ever get my internet sorted) and the quick battle ones (done all the beginner fights).

Also need to finish Killzone on Elite and get the kill 1500 Helghast trophy for the plat. Reckon I can get both of these before march.

February Trophy Progress:

Mass Effect 2- Platinum

The Darkness II- Platinum. This is probably one of the most fun FPS I've ever played. DE really nailed it with the look and gameplay on this one.

Now playing:

KoA: Reckoning- Meh annoyed that I entered my online pass code on my old PSN ID by accident. I don't think it's required for a plat thankfully.

Successful Skyrim platinum.

Working on Assassin's Creed: Revelations now. Buying UFC so it'll be a slow plat as I switch between games. (No chance of a UFC Plat with that 500 ranked trophy.).

It won't. Just play Manhunt. If you're good at hiding and stuns you'll get 2,000-10,000 a round.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Uncharted 3 Trophies:

I doubt I'll platinum this game.

Platinum #15 is Prince of Persia, and it's the slowest yet at 3 years, 5 months, 1 week. Strange that the fastest was also a PoP game (TFS in 5 days, 1 hour, 22 minutes). That's three Platinums in February for me (and 57 trophies so far), a first!

Red Dead Redemption Lvl. 50 is mine. Fastest run on Pike's Basin was 5:33:25, including a 15-kill chain of the middle segment.

Also, Marvel vs Capcom 3 platinum is mine. All-Random-Selecting ranked matches just to fight someone with a 1st Rank was hilarious.

The clock draws nearer and nearer to Vita US/EU launch...and no PS3 firmware update in sight that allows the PS3 to display Vita games in the trophy list.
Is there...even going to be one at this point?

Also, anyone have a Vita and Michael Jackson The Experience HD? Got a question.

Eek, Footos is getting annoyingly close to me! DAMN YOU! :p

Miles away! Haha

Nearly 2 platinum's and I wont even hit 50%
I say nearly 2 as my Aragorns quest glitched on the shire hub missions so I missed the only gold trophy left :(
I could do a quick run through though as the game would be very short now I don't have to worry about side missions or collectibles.

My OCD will probably force me through it before i start anything else.

Really want to clear up the trophies on my old games. Im doing well and haven't bought 1 new game this year so far apart from Aragorn and carnival games but they were only a 6 quid between them. Gone back to cod classic at the moment as i forgot i was playing that before i sold my PS3 before. Its a bitch on veteran but im flying through it. Only need to finish it and theres another Platinum as i did all the stupid melee only trophies etc the first time.

I suggest tweeting Yoshida about it. I did a few months back and he basically said "that's a good question". Maybe keeping the topic alive with him might get it a bit of attention. That's another main reason I'm holding off on my Vita purchase.

I'm currently working on completing Sonic Adventure, I have about 120 emblems at the moment, however, I am having a hell of a time with Big's fishing missions. The developers have to be taking the piss with these, surely? It took me about two hours to beat the Ice level, because my line would inexplicably snap. It wasn't getting stuck on the bones, I wasn't even reeling in when it would happen sometimes... Now, I'm in Emerald Coast and I've had a fish on my line for 15 minutes. Every time I reel in a bit, it swims back to where it originally was. It honestly seems completely futile, I am making no progress, the fish shows no sign of tiring. If it is not over the 2000g limit that I need (if I ever get it in) I will rage hard.

Worst idea ever.

*Edit - 35 minutes later, I caught the fish. 2020g. I would love to say it was an epic battle, it really wasn't though. More a total pain in the arse. The fish would get its head out of the wall every so often and swim towards me, when it got with 3-4 metres, it would suddenly have a surge of energy and go straight back into the wall.

Two plats this weekend! Finally finished off the Sly 3 challenges. I don't know why but for after hating the grind to 75%, after a few months coming back to finish the last few, I actually enjoyed myself. Also, finished up Skyrim (well, the trophies anyway).

Picked up Tekken 6 yesterday, so I guess I'll finally start getting some more trophies. Didn't get much the first day though. Most of the trophies seem tied to the scenario campaign, and I just wanted to start with Arcade/Multiplayer stuff.

Yeah, I saw your post about that when I asked that time.
I've stopped really looking into the answer lately due to figuring there'd just be a PS3 FW update around now, but now is here and nothing. I mean, technically we have another week until the NA/EU official launch, but...

Also I don't use Twitter so if anyone wants to remind him of this, feel free.

Got the FF 13-2 platinum. Going to run through Mass Effect 2 again on 360 before 3 comes out. Hoping the DLC goes on sale before then.

Just recently making the transition into trophy/achievement whoring, I only have 3 measly platinums. Just got my 3rd (God of War 2) last night. I also happen to have exactly 1,000 trophies, lol.

How bad is God of War 2? I finished #1 last year but didn't really have the desire to go through 2.

How bad is it? It's awesome. However, I happen to like the GoW series very much so my opinion may differ from other Gaffers. I've beaten them all (even the psp ones) on the hardest setting and completed the Challenge of the Gods/Titans/whatever without being concerned about any sort of trophy or bragging rights. I also would not mind more GoW games with Kratos. So I may be a bit biased.

TLDR; God of War 2 is well worth your time if you enjoyed the first at all.

Edit: My three platinums are God of War 1, 2, and 3, as well... >_>

I don't know what trigger switched in my brain the moment I earned my first platinum, but for the last few months they're all I think about. I haven't played any singleplayer/story-driven games in awhile, so I'm glad I found reason to revisit games in my library. Anyway, I was looking at the trophy lists for new releases and saw this trophy from Twisted Metal:

All Sales Are Final
Win at least 1 Ranked Online game per day for 30 straight days.

I was sure torture was against the Geneva Conventions. It's expected that a multiplayer game would include multiplayer trophies. Even asking players to win 30 ranked matches would be reasonable because all that is required is participation and a bit of persistence... but one ranked win a day for a month? Who thought this was reasonable. No, a more important question - who thought this was fun? What if someone's internet provider takes a day off? What if the game's servers crash? Trophies and achievements should reward participation and skill; this is bonkers. I get they wanted a trophy to reward the ultra-hardcore online players, but wouldn't their high rank be rewarding enough? Who is for trophies such as this and who is opposed?

BurningNad

I'm definitely against trophies like that... Aside from all the reasons you said, what if your system breaks down? What if you go on vacation away from your game? What if you just don't feel like playing? Blah.

Is there any good site that lists missable ahievements/trophies besides 360achievements.org? That site's Bastion guide doesn't correctly list missable achievements. =\

Haha, at that point you say, "To Hell with this trophy." That's why boosting as a concept is silly. Grinding is one thing, but bamboozling the system to avoid working for a trophy/achievement you don't care to earn legitimately... What's worse is developers must recognize this. If the easiest method is boosting, the trophy by design encourages boosting rather than persistence. I checked the trophy lists for Soul Calibur V and King of Fighters XIII, and thankfully they are both very reasonable regarding online matches. Something like 300 total matches, 100 wins is doable at a player's own pace, and they both allow player matches to count toward those totals. Only KOF's "10 consecutive Ranked wins" poses any concern.

PS3trophies also has roadmaps. Trueachievements has walkthroughs, which list the order in which you'll get the achievements and missables. Unfortunately, there isn't a walkthrough for Bastion yet, so you're stuck with x360a.

I suggest you message Locke and tell him what needs changing. I'm sure he will take it onboard and improve the guide. If however (for whatever reason) he doesn't want to change it, you have the option of creating your own guide. I've done that a few times when I see guides that clearly lack quality (Perfect Dark Zero for example).

*With the guide already accepted on the main page, you'll need to post here.
