Oxeye did something similar last night. But the hair helps. :D Currently the game seems to be just a shoot'em up, haven't seen any RTS elements so far. Also needs a lot of gore. Cloth from mummies flying around, bouncing monocles and vaporized hats. And undead mummy eyeballs following you around for a while after you kill a mummy.

I guess my PC is quite old. The current build runs with 500+ fps on Notch's PC. The Humble Bundle build runs with 31 fps ony my PC with a lot less going on.

Where do you play the latest build?

I think this game is going to be one big stereotype of the settings and genres. Just remember the "steampunk rage" of the graphics guy yesterday :D

Lol, true. Nonetheless anxious to see the final results of the jam!

Spirite-flipping and palette swaps are totally fine for a project with such a tight schedule.

But the Castlevania devs are lazy cheapskate bastards. :p

Gameplay is already addictive, thanks to all those jewels. Not much has changed in terms of content for the build. Player sprite, recoil, fog of war, map, loot, loot counter.

It sucks that you can't destroy 2 of the enemy spawners because they're on top of the blocks >_< I really wanted to wipe them out :D

Edit: didn't think that it was randomly generated. Oh and come at me GAF

Can't find the last 2 enemies. I did have some minor complaints though:
*You shouldn't have to stop shooting to pick up the jewels/coins
*You shouldn't have to stop shooting in order to change the direction that you're shooting in
*When you shoot your gun, the number of enemies goes up a bit, even if you've destroyed all of the enemy spawners, and then goes back do

I know that the game isn't finished yet. Just some minor complaints that I had with this version.

What's Oxeye and these other guys doing? Does this connect to the jam project in any way and if so how?

They are doing a game that is based on the second most voted and second least voted genre/setting from the Mojang vote. Beat'em Up Dungeon Crawler in a postapocalyptic WW2 setting. You're in a Nazi fortress and have to collect Nazi gold and escape. However somebody said it's gonna be a multiplayer only game, so I don't know how that will work. They have been talking about AI on their to do list so I think it will be singleplayer as well.

This...THIS is what I paid for!

I think it's interesting that there seems to be pretty loud music going for the Mojang crew. I guess they like the same music enough to not mind it. :)

10 hours left! Holy fuck!

I wasn't able to watch last night, but I'm gonna relax with the stream running all day.

No idea how they will finish this in time!

10 hours to go! 328k donated so far. Charity needs more money and the bundle needs more buyers.

I will donate after lunch :)

The idea itself is pretty awesome. Doing such a thing for charity alone - great! We players should organize a huge global gaming marathon for charity. Stream games live and collect money. Not exactly a new idea - but there were only some smaller events in the past. I really want to organize something huge. Who's on board? lol

I'm starting to see some level design and some TD-y elements with the defense robots on tracks... but this is going to be one hell of an 8 hour crunch if they want to get this actually finished.

No less than 7 people pulled an all-nighter last night at #Mojam That's worth a donation! :) humblebundle.com

I have no idea if the games will turn out semi-decent either. I liked what I saw of the Mojang one, I just want it to have a way to win it, maybe fewer enemies, and maybe one or two more mechanics or something.

They're not going to finish this one in time, are they? 3h30m to go and they're still animating snakes.

But raising 360 thousand dollars with one small Swedish studio working for the weekend is a very cool achievement.

I don't quite understand who Oxeye and Wolfire are -- are they tied to Mojang, or just "friend" studios?

From mojang.com:

It sounds very unlikely they'll raise another $130,000 in less than 3 hours though, so it looks like Notch's beard is safe.

They were just playing the Mojang game on the stream and it looks pretty cool now. I guess killing monsters gives you gold or whatever, and you use that to go back to a little explorer base and buy things like bombs (or turrets?). Bombs can blow up walls and turrets are little sentries that stop enemies from coming through an area I guess?

Less than 3 hours left. The game looks great. But the HUD is terrible. I hope they fix that before it ends.

Just donated. Gonna download.

When is Oxeye going to put something up? At the end I guess?

Yep, Oxeye is the studio of Jens, the new Minecraft developer. Mojang hired Jens then agreed to publish Oxeye's first game, Cobalt.

I think Oxeye has free reign to come into the Mojang studios and develop while they're there - I know they closed their studio a few months ago during a hilarious Saturday morning where Jens was trying to get into the office and pack things, but was locked out.
