Cross Assault Thread: Get Cross, taste Salt (SFxT Reality Show)

No, it was the censorship of every aspect of what makes the community fun. No one actually means the stuff they say, it's just to get hype or a response out of it. To censor that would make the FGC dull and bland, a lot like the esports scene of today.

Well, Aris literally said someone to the effect of---I know some people don't like sexual harassment, but if it was gone I'd really miss it.

To say nothing of Miranda getting on the mic and saying that Aris doesn't know where the line is and then getting cut off.

There's this crazy idea, to me, that to defend any aspect of the community's behavior is to defend all of it. We can defend shit-talking without defending some of the things that Aris has done.

Oh I didn't know you were here with us talking about this subject before and after what you heard on the stream chat.

Okay then. Feel free to enlighten us on every single thing Jared said that he didn't say on the mic. Don't hide behind an excuse like a fucking coward, come out and say it. List all the horrible ways he wants to censor the fighting came community that he didn't mention on stream, because what he did way wasn't anywhere close to censoring everything that makes the community fun.

Fuck, Jared has an account here, he can fill us in too. I want to hear which part makes that statement not sound like bullshit.

I think we're all okay with shit talking.

But do we REALLY have to go as low as sexually harassing women/non-straight people/people that are different than you?

Keep that shit to "this guy is FREE" and the like. More about the person's skill level and less about their sexual orientation and gender.

Can't we all grow up and mature a little bit? You can shit talk without using the words "bitch, fag, tranny", etc.

Sure. We can, and I have. (Let's not forget racism in that equation.) But one thing I respect in the FGC is the shit-talk is equal. White, black, gay, female....the only thing that makes you immune is winning.

When someone gets upset enough to consider leaving the show, and people still want to be insensitive douchebags, it's not about hype and it's not about hype anymore and it's not funny. If you can't get hype, be funny, or be original without taking it out on other people then get a fucking real personality.

Lets cut this nonsense out.

You seem upset.

Lets cut this nonsense out.

Let's all hug each other after every match, let's never make heated side bets about how much someone sucks, let's never pull a race card on why such and such is bad at fighting games, blah blah blah and so on.

Now let's look at people that win evo and major events. Oh... okay.

Yes thats exactly what I'm advocating. oh lawd.

Why is it so hard to not sexually harass every girl you see come into the FGC?

Can we PLEASE just enjoy each other and be happy about people who decide to join our niche community and not push them away?

Prime example being the KayoPolice fiasco where people were shouting things about her transexuallity and nothing about her ability to play the damn game which was what the whole point of the event was.

If someone sucks ASS in a game, we are more than welcome to call them out on it. It's competition. Say they are free. Tell them to learn to block. There is no reason to resort to "rape that bitch" or tell them to "make me a sandwich".

Don't start about "FREE SPEECH IN AMURIKUH YOU COMMIE". Go on ahead and run out to your local mall and start spewing your sexist comments and tell me how it went. Who would have thought that creating a positive and accepting community would be so difficult?

We can have a community where we aren't golf clapping. We can keep shit talking eachother all over the place and it won't alienate your girlfriend/boyfriend/co-workers.

Honestly, wouldn't it be nice if you could share fighting game streams with your friends who don't follow? I'm not trying to bring fighting games into the living room of every family, but I don't want to have to turn down the volume when I'm watching an EVO stream because people are saying overly sexist things.

I've been to quite a few tournaments and the amount of people that actually act like insipid insensitive morons as part of an "act" is extremely few.

How this was thought of as representative of "the entire fighting game community" is still beyond me.

I like you and agree 100%. But I also think it's not the majority of the community that is the problem. But people defending their right to say racial/sexual slurs freely is just beyond me.

Huh, most people are positive towards Kayo I believe. LOL I think you are confusing STREAM MONSTERS random trolling and the actual people at the events and on scene. THERE IS NO EXCUSING the shit aris does though LOL that's just feeding the stream monsters

For real though...

why is mario holding a raccoon head in your icon?

Because mario is anti animal rights

This is what I have to wonder, how many of you are actually talking about in-person behavior? How many have you have actually been to tournaments and see bigotry, racism, or sexism in action?

If you're just talking about stream monsters then this entire argument is pointless, because stream monsters just exploit people for what they are. If you're fat, you get blown up for it, if you're bald, you get blown up for it, and so on and so forth. It's just a melting pot of stupidity that you aren't supposed to take seriously.

Yo, I think it'd be hilarious if FGC hype turned into golf claps.

I'd laugh every single time. Like every single time I see NerdJosh in that Cross Assault intro.

So the guy you responded to was talking about Jared, but you're not. Okay, let's pretend that is the case - what was the argument put forward by this anonymous person? Literally tell us what they wanted to censor that makes you think it would ruin the FGC. Can't be that hard, let's hear it.

You're belittling your post by referring to Kayopolice using 'he'. She was born a man, but now identifies herself as a woman, so referring to her as a he or calling her a man is harassment too, or at least disrespectful.

Kayo is awesome because she's good. Ricky is awesome because he's good. Dieminion is awesome because he's good. Viscant is awesome because he's good. If you aren't good you get trolled. (Sometimes if you are.) Simple as that.

Let's not invalidate a valid point cause he made a mistake. Grasping at straws.

OK we get that but is it necessary to troll them with slurs about their race or sexuality? cause that's the only real issue people are having here.

GAF really is over-sensitive.

I hate to say it, because I'll get bashed, but it's true, man.

I didn't want to believe it at first, but once I saw NaCl from fucking Stream Monsters jokes, I stopped denying it.

Better than GameFAQS though and I'll still show my love for it in the stream chat, despite that one guy keeps calling me "KingofCocks" for it. :\
