What I meant was that the color reproduction and black levels are almost worse than on my TN TFT LCD monitor. And the battery doesn't even last 4 hours of gameplay with Flight Mode on and the brightness being on its lowest level.

The screen has had universal praise yet based on your experience it does qualify as an OLED screen?

Shinobido 2 is a lot of fun so far, not like IGN hasn't been wrong before...I have Hot Shots also so I'm just here to confuse you I guess.

You son of a bitch!

(thanks for the input.)

Yeah, curious about this also as I've already paid for MLB Vita, I feel like if you buy the Vita version you get a gimped PS3 version, and if you buy the PS3 you get the regular Vita version, but that is pure guesstimation.

Like Eznark said, so many of us have asked for cross play with baseball, we would be bums for not supporting it. But they need to do more than a commercial. They need to show the process working (and talk about pricing if there is a bundle)

well to be fair, the actual shooting is much better than say Golden Abyss

I just started playing this game today. Oddly enough it's actually my favorite control setup of any Uncharted to date. The gyro aiming is godlike. I wish every shooter on the Vita has this.

Was kinda meh on the Unit 13 demo. The actual gunplay with the sticks is definitely better but the rest of the demo kinda sucked.

What are people saying about Unit 13? Because I honestly thought the demo was shit. The touch controls are exactly what I don't want out of these types of games. Also, I can tell from the dialog that the writing is going to be shit. The camera is also way to close to the back of the character for my liking.

That's the current day Zipper for ya. They make really dumb decisions in game design, heck Soccom 4 didn't even have a pistol in the game. When I heard Zipper was behind Unit 13 I was immediately out. They need to go back and recreate the classic socom 1 & 2 experience instead.

Thanks.

As I don't own a PSP go anymore and didn't download half the games at the time, will it work if I download them through media Go so they show in my download history on the store?
Download history is just 'things you've bought' list, everything will show up.

The pricing is going to be interesting.

I could totally understand them going down the route of full price for both if you want them on retail or say both for 10% extra if you buy digitally.

Any retail version with both copies is open to once version being sold to get the other version cheaper if they discount it.

Whatever they do will set a precedent for other games to follow that have the same feature.

The only difference is that this is a Sony game, the likes of EA could just ignore anything they do when it comes to Fifa and Madden time.

Download history is just 'things you've bought' list, everything will show up.

And I wish I could filter it or remove stuff :(

My Vita survived a 5 hour flight of WipEout 2048 and Stardust in flight mode, with the brightness at 60%.
Where are you getting your numbers from? I recall a IGN battery test saying something like that but I'm pretty sure it was way off. I've gotten more than 4 hours every time I play the thing, and it's never on lowest brightness.

There will be buy the ps3 version then get half off the vita version. A guy in the other thread said toys r us was doing it, I know best buy is doing it, and i would assume other retailers are as well.

Sooooo rejoice! Good precedent for sure.

Bullshit. The black levels absolutely blow away any and all LCDs on the market.

LCDs have to "cheat" by using local dimming which basically degrades brightness in order to create the illusion of darkness. If an LCD appears dark with a blank screen that's simply because the back light is being disabled. If you start to display some content on screen against a mostly black image, however, the back light will be engaged and produce a glow.

I'm not sure what you're seeing, but it seems like crazy talk to me. The OLED in the Vita actually matches my Pioneer Kuro in a lot of ways and crushes both of my TN and IPS LCDs.

Everyone remembers the online multiplayer from those games, but could you imagine Socom and Socom II on this thing, with four player online co-op for the campaign modes? They'd sell another half million systems from the announcement alone.

It's fun to reminisce, but Zipper hasn't made a decent title in almost a decade now. As someone who was really deep into their community, I can tell you that their current team is clueless to what made those first two games special.

The Hori PS Vita Face cover is seriously the case I've been waiting for. I needed something to be on my Vita 24/7 which protected the entire console (because I'm very insane when it comes to handhelds) and with a face cover it's absolutely perfect.

I still have a large case to throw it into if I ever want any insane protection.

If you're crazy like myself, I strongly suggest you buy this case from Amazon.

Quoted for the truth. The team there now just aren't the same people.

Which, according to pretty much everybody, is something synonymous with OLED.
As far as I know that's part of the disadvantages of OLED, so it wouldn't that confirm that it is indeed an OLED? :)
Yeah. I almost though that they shoved me an LCD. XD

Yesterday, I started playing Unit 13 at around 12:30. The next moment I checked, it was 16:00 and my battery was dead. My numbers are from my own experience. I'll try to do one more test tomorrow just to be sure. Either way, it's fine with me. :)

BTW, here are some Unit 13 screenshots.

I'm just saying how I see it. :/

The most important thing is that I can see blotches in the dark. :P

It's quite possible that you Vita is flawed. The screen should be better than a TN TFT LCD monitor.

Battery life should be longer with flight mode on, at lowest screen brightness. What games were you playing ?

Edit: Unit 13, but it's unclear your Vita was fully charged. A modern cellphone may not be able to run the game well, if at all.

I was so close to picking up one of these bad boys this past weekend. The price of the memory is whats holding me back. :(

I'm sure this has been asked before in this thread but how is the d-pad on this thing? I've heard it was pretty bad by a couple of people. Is it squishy like the Sega Genesis controller?

Those people are dumb. The d-pad is excellent imo and more than gets the job done.

probably playing uncharted or something. some games will have higher utilization than others which in turn will suck more battery.

What Sega Genesis controller was squishy? They had an excellent dpad on that system. The 6 button controller especially.

As for the Vita, the dpad feels great.

I'm actually a fan of the way they've handled this stuff. I guess it would be a good idea for the system to show a tiny ! over the bubble that's currently inserted though.

The "Live Page" area is actually something I've wanted for a long time. It's awesome because each page has a Facebook like feed of what you and your friends have done in that game. It also allows you to download updates to the game at any time. I'm a big fan of the attractive and slick nature to this interface they've created.

I actually agree to some extent. The wall for friends activity is a really nice touch. The only problem is that it seems impossible to manage saves and installs/updates from this page. From what I can tell you can only delete everything by holding the icon for a few seconds.

Really? I've been getting close to 5 hours of battery life playing Dynasty Warriors Next with Flight Mode on 50% of the time and brightness close to minimum.

I'm new to remote play, but what's the point of it if I have to my ps3 turned on?

It's for playing certain PS3 games, or accessing certain functions, remotely.

In order to use the functionality you will need to turn the PS3 on and leave it in 'Remote Play' mode. Never been an issue for me but then my PS3 is always either in remote play mode or running a GT5 B-Spec race (when I'm not with it).

Is Super AMOLED impervious to this, because my phone doesn't show the same problem. I do see faint vertical lines as well on my phone, but they are not as visible as on my vita (must have something to do with screen size)

I imagine it's sorta cool if someone else in the house wants to use the TV. Either that or you are using your Vita as some sort of media extender. Of course if you are streaming a media library from your PC to your PS3 you are using an awful lot of power to stream an MP3. I really hope they fast track a better version of content manger soon.

Is there a way to improve the stream quality of remote play on the vita? Does getting a faster router count (I only use a G router)?

The concept seems pretty darn cool, especially now when I can map all of the PS3's buttons to the Vita. Its just the overall quality that drags it down (well, and the input lag)

I have no idea. I haven't seen this blotching on my Vita and don't have experience with OLED devices. I just know the Vita screen is fucktastic. :)

You don't have to.

You can turn the PS3 on from RemotePlay if you enable the setting on PS3. You can turn it off from RemotePlay too.

Does that actually work with the Vita?

Maybe I'm unlucky but turning my PS3 off with my PSP2000 or PSP-Go often makes the system hang and I can't turn it back on until I return to the machine and reboot it manually. It got so regular that I just used to leave the PS3 on all the time. Maybe it was just a problem for me :(

Anyone looking at trading in their £6 Dungeon Hunter, the HMV re/play app is showing me £20 trade in value. Going to test it out tomorrow, they'd better have some PSN cards in stock!

You'll get smoother and more stable playback but I believe resolution is fixed at PSP resolution for PSP RemotePlay apps/games.

Only games/apps written for Vita RemotePlay can run at higher resolution. I *think* Torne/PlayTV does that (You RemotePlay recorded TV to Vita/PSP)

Yup it works, I was turning my PS3 on and off quite a few times over the weekend via Remote Play. I've yet to actually try it while I'm outside my home network though.

Is this for digital only or both? I would think they would have announced something this close to launch.

I have only tried Vita RemotePlay when PS3 is on so far. Will try to turn it on via RemotePlay today.

I played with PSP RemotePlay a while back. Was able to turn it on/off without issues.

You have to use Settings > App Data Management for housekeeping.

So what is the best case for Vita?

I wanted the Thrustmaster VIP Hard Case but it is out of stock on Amazon.

edit: I don't want permanently attached cases. Hate that. I want to take the vita out of the case to play it.

Almost worse than your TN display? Come on, that's hyperbole. The black pixels are turned off. This means that in most conditions, you're going to get pure black on the Vita. It isn't, however, great in either sunlight (what is?) or pitch black conditions, where you will see blotches. Now, this is purely anecdotal evidence, but my Zune HD (also with an OLED screen) had blotches for a while when I got it and then after some time it just went away somehow. So who knows. Either way, as long as you have some ambient light around you, the Vita's screen blows away any LCD technology. In fact, I turned my Transformer tablet on for the first time since getting my Vita, and the screen actually looks kind of washed out now, and the black levels are pretty terrible. And it has a nice IPS display, which for LCD is great.

No it wouldn't. Rose tinted goggles and all, the games are incredibly dated games that people look overly fondly on. SOCOM is a dead and forgotten franchise under a mountain of more accessible and polished shooters on the market, a remake of the old games is not going to make a dent in any type of sales.

How is the build quality? It looks like extremely cheap, fragile plastic in the pictures, but if it's decent I might get one of those.

Have you tried using your Vita in a totally dark room? That's the only time when I see those blotches (playing at night with the lights out). Fortunately, mine doesn't seem to be as blotched up as some vita screens I've been seeing around the net
