His faces should had him deported long ago. Can Muppets actually be born with down's syndrome?

:O

DAMN!

Don't mind the haters, I wouldn't enjoy this great series if it wasn't for your threads!

To be fair, Warren's style jumped the shark a long time ago. His female faces look like bizarre aquatic / reptilian creatures with their bizarre snake like nostrils and tendency to have several rows of teeth.

That said when he's not drawing freaky bitch faces, his pages are visually dense and well illustrated; but Empowered is more enjoyable because of his wacky writing.

It's an acquired taste and I think Spank just partially longs for the days of PSM Magazine Adam Warren.

In related news. . . up to 22 titles now. With one I'm forgetting. D:

Thanks to everyone who mentioned Secret Avengers came out this week (I thought it was a monthly). What a great issue, hot damn. Loving the story, the characters, the writing, the art, the coloring, all of it. Can't wait for the next issue.

Also picked up the first two issues of Danger Girl Revolver. Surprisingly fun book. Pretty shallow all things considered, but it's a better version of the Uncharted comic book essentially. Lots of action in colorful locales, and the art is pretty vibrant. Sucks that it's $4, but eh what are ya gonna do.

Haven't even put a dent in this week's stack of comics yet and just re-read Singles Club. Comic perfection.

Secret Avengers is giving me the same kind of giddy excitement I felt reading those first couple issues of UXF. Some parallels in the story too. Fate of a child with an evil group wanting to harness his power, one of the teammates out on a covert op to find said kid, uncertain past of a group member leading to doubts within the group (Venom and Angel).

Most importantly it just looks great and is exciting as shit. Love love love it.

e: lol, love how SA 23 spoiled the end of the Circle of Four. Thanks Rick, now I know Venom's gonna win and Hell on Earth won't come to fruition! Jeez!

Isn't Gage on Legacy? And am I imagining things or did someone earlier ask if Gage's run has been good so far? I dropped it after Carey left because Gage is hit or miss with me

I haven't read any Avengers Academy but Gage seems like a better fit for the book with its focus taken away from the sci-fi stuff Carey was doing and placing it on the JGS faculty. I like the idea and potential for the book but this first arc hasn't quite gotten there yet. The .1 issue from last month though was great. I want the series to be like that always.

Just think of the crossover possibilities! :D

Eugh.

Isn't Empowered the superheroine who's costume is always falling off? Probably would be a good concept if it wasn't drawn by a caricaturist.

Its funny. No one can explain how Legacy and XFactor are still going. Seriously, what Faustian deal did PAD and Carey strike to stay on the same book for 7 and 6 years respectively?

I think X-Factor keeps going because PAD has a really dedicated fanbase that reads everything he puts out and is just big enough to keep a book alive.

Legacy? No idea. It was a book that should have been cancelled long before Carey got on it.

Any of you brahs read Morning Glories? The premise is interesting to me, but there are just so many great comics out there I don't know what to do.

You guys ready to get your nuts crushed next week?

712 PAGES

Was pleasantly surprised to find my copy had arrived last thursday, although I've only just had a chance to flip through it. Some very nice supplemental material in there; A few sketches showing the (brief) evolution of emp's image from her skeevy beginnings as generic damsel in distress to the slightly less skeevy current form, a few pages that had been pulled from the time she was being a sexy librarian, about six pages of annotated notes, and quite a few other interesting bits and pieces. If you already have the individual volumes then I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you're a die-hard fan, but if you don't have them then it's pretty much a no-brainer.

So there's a cover and summary for Superman vs. The Elite

Cover: http://supermanhomepage.com/images/Superman-vs-Elite/120226-DVDcover1.jpg

The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes, is renowned for killing their enemies. Despite the acclaim and approval the Elite enjoy, Superman knows they are in the wrong, creating more harm than good by their methods. Tensions between them finally culminate in a mass showdown on Jupiter's moons, when Superman is forced to prove that violence is never a positive.
It sounds like an extremely reduced version of Kingdom Come, and if there are huge amount of villains it might be like the story arc Ending Battle (one of the antagonists is Manchester Black?)

It sounds like its an adaption of "What's Wrong with Truth, Justice, and the American Way"...because I think that's what it is lol

Seems odd that they're doing this story in 2012. I don't think many people that will watch this will even know what the Authority is.

Justice League + Shade = best I can hope for on a fifth week.

Marvel really blew its wad on me last week. What could they possibly have in store? *stays tuned*

I want to start to get into comics. I've always loved the look of them, but never really bought them, I mostly read Manga. But Comics look just a good if not better!

Comics are badass. If you want to ease into transition there are artists out there that borrow eastern aesthetics. Something like Skullkickers seems very manga inspired (it's also hilarious).

Also, I feel like the guy that does Red Hood now has a more subtle, manga influence in his designs. His take on Mr Freeze makes him look like he could be a Metal Gear Solid villain.
