2 Chainz is one of my favorite artist right now.. dude isn't dope by any standards but he has good beats and rides them fairly well...

Yup. He's not a lyrical miracle but he knows how to work a track. Which is more than I can say for a lot of "lyrical miracles". I think working the track is the harder thing to get down. Canibus can rap all day but can't make a song to save his life. 2 Chainz has a great library already and doesn't even have a real album out. Lo Boots, Cowboy, Kitchen, Pimps, Got 1, etc.

Musical Taste:
Pick a coast to rep - West
Favourite Artist - this will change every day, right now i'll say wu-tang clan
Best feature killer - Canibus up until and including 1, 2, 3, 4
Favourite album - tie between Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Lost Boyz - Legal Drug Money (again, my answer will probably be different tomorrow)
What's in your playlist? - mostly non hip hop shit... digging that new schoolboy q though and kendrick lamar's section 80

GAF-Hop Discusses:
Rank Kanye's albums - MBDTF is the best
Who is the best Wu-Tang member? (+optional: Rae vs. Ghost) U-God
Illmatic > Nas' whole life? - I don't think any piece of music has higher value than a human life.
Do you think Nas next album will be good? Or is Nas old and dusted with a horrible ear for production? - No and yes. Nas cycle is OT equivalent to Sonic cycle in Gaming.
Who do you think won the Jay-Z/Nas beef? I liked Jay's real dis records better and feel that Ether is overrated so I'll say Jay (I'm not counting that "Super Ugly" bullshit).. Also if we're going by the same standards as the the apparent general consensus did with the LL/Canibus battle such as post-battle success, Jay all day.
Pick a side in the Biggie/2Pac discussion - Biggie
Lil B? Genius or mentally challenged? - Yes.
Pick an era of Eminem - Slim Shady EP and LP, saw him perform in LA right when he got his Aftermath deal before the LP dropped and was a fan. "The Way I Am" and the change in flow it brought that ended up being on every fucking song he did after a while was the beginning of me losing interest.

Oh yeah, I forgot if it isnt some obscure artist from the bay, they are overrated to you.

Well, let's be realistic. Bay people do listen to shit music, e-40, Mac Dre, too short, etc.

Then again, Bay has lil b, v-nasty, and kreayshawn. BAY REDEEMED

Schoolboy Q album should be in Notable releases, not "Discussed." We already discussed it. It's set the bar for rap releases in 2012 going forward.

If we get an album this year head and shoulders above HnC it's gonna be a great year for hip hop. I almost feel like it already blew 2012's load.

Spend It is such a banger... the shit is so dope. If he can give me an album of that I will support him forever.

Shit was still funny. That whole thread was pretty funny.

Yeah, like I said shit is different on the outside world.

I bring muhfuckin' balance to the force and shit.

Yo, Ace. Maybe you could throw this track on one of your West Coast mixes(would actually go great on a summer time mix): XL Middleton - Sunny Side Up

You get mad at Recon and then you post an artist I have never heard of!! LOL

I am game let me peep him in a few hours tho!

Knowledge is power, guard it well
Curren$y x SP - The1st 28
Camron x Vado - Blu Top
Doo Wop x Planet Asia - The Arrival
Yelawolf x Ed Sheeran - Slumdon Bridge
Balloons Of Haus (The Weeknd)

All good shit posted toward the end of OT3.

I see 2 Chainz as a prime free agent right now for either MBM or CTE. Just a matter of how much Jeezy really wants to push the label. If he got Tity they'd have a banging ass trio of Jeezy, Gibbs and Tity. He'd also do good on MBM.

i hope 2 Chainz stays a free agent cause he seems cool with everybody.

or at least sign with a crew that aint beefing hard w/ somebody else.

signing w/ CTE or MMG would damage that big time cause its too many idiots on each side that dont fool with the other side for silly reasons.

Him and DrummaBoy should just start a label or be the first real artist on Drumma's fake ass label..

Depends what kinda fuckin you want I guess. Nothing like choking a chick to Hard in the Paint. Weeknd has it's moments too. Sometimes you just gotta leave the Tim's on a fuck to Flockaveli mane. Try it.

This had me cracking up man. My ex used to light candles and play Robin Thicke..... :(
I gotta step my game up!

Predict: The Best Albums of 2012

Missy Elliott & Timbaland - The Block Party
Dr. Dre - Detox
Jay Electronica - It's Me, Bitches!
GZA - Liquid Swords 2
Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor 2

I've named that pretty badly. What I meant was like, notable is pretty much anything that comes out from a well known artist, or is just solid.

The discussed was supposed to be like, the most notable. The ones that people kept coming back to discuss over pages and pages.

I just named it badly.

Great OT Macca! Rarely post in here to avoid looking foolish (seems to have happened every previous post in here), but I love lurking these threads and finding new hip-hop (and find some old stuff that I need to listen to as well).

There's no way you can top "Illmatic = 7.5" so don't worry, jump in!

Is Juicy gonna for real put something out on Wiz's label? Or is he just getting free paychecks off Wiz. lol I'm really leaning toward the free paycheck thing.

My bad!
Out of interest, what do you rate:

Midnight Marauders
De La Soul Is Dead
It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back

First off, I wasn't serious about the "solid" 7.5. Just think Illmatic is overrated and don't put it up there with the best of the best from the east.

Second, number ratings are silly. I put Is Dead and Midnight Marauders in the "best of the best and not overrated" category. I was never a fan of Public Enemy.

Ah. I was thinking UK.

What's the hip hop scene like over there?
It's pretty small. I don't keep up with the scene much, simply because the quality is not there. There are so many good mixtapes and coming out of the states I find it hard enough to keep up with.

Most of the stuff that hits our charts is just whatever is on the US top 40 at the time. Most people here, even if they like Hip Hop wouldn't know people like Gucci, or have heard Hard in the Paint. We don't really have like, that ignorant party culture where people just bang that kind of music.

Couple songs that I feel are pretty good representations of where NZ Hip Hop is.

Nesian Mystik - It's On

Scribe - Not Many - The Remix - Featuring David Dallas (Before he changed his name)

Savage - Swing

I give you all 7.5's

New thread, lets get to know the depravity that is hip hop gaf. Answer whatever you feel comfortable with:

First name? Benjamin
Where'd you get your username? Was born in India and given the "knickname" Siddhartha as a baby. Changed it to Siddartha, shortened to Siddx.
Age? 29
Where do you live? Maine but moving to Vietnam later this year
Where are you from? All over the world
How'd you end up where you are? Spent my summers in Maine so we built a family home here, moved back to attend grad school. Wouldn't be here otherwise, too cold, town to small.
First Hip Hop Album? MC Hammers "please hammer don't hurt em". Yeah yeah, if you were a kid of in the late 80's early 90's you know how many people got started with hammer.

Top 5 movies? Matrix, Event Horizon, Half Baked, Enter The Dragon, Princess Bride

Top 5 Video games? Super Metroid, Castlevania Sotn, Diablo 2, Zelda A link to the past, Final Fantasy 6

What did you read last? Chris Jericho's two biographies, some star trek books, a bunch of textbooks so I knew what the fuck I was teaching.

What did you watch last?
Been marathoning Star Trek TNG and catching up on Happy Endings and Fringe.

Favorite non hip hop album?
Joni Mitchell's Blue

Favorite Drink? Southern Comfort and Diet Coke

Play any sports? Soccer (goalie and forward) Basketball (small forward) Haven't played sports in years though.

How was your high school life? Jock first two years, stoner "bad kid" last two

Bad habits? Cigarettes, booze, and women

Employment? Teacher

Hobbies? Gaming, cars (not as much anymore, aftermarket mods cost too much), gardening, music, travel, magic the gathering (Yeah, I'm a nerd, suck my dick.)

If you could slap one artist in the face with a sock filled with quarters? Chris Brown

Why'd you end up on gaf? Heard people talking about it on IGN boards like it was the kind og message boards, figured that made it somewhere I belonged. Came for gaming side though but never post there.

Other threads you frequent? Lurk wrestle-gaf and nba-gaf during playoffs. Both have far too many negative motherfuckers for me to spend an extended amount of time there though. Magic the gathering gaf.

Threads you avoid like the plague? Anime gaf, Pedo gaf, Pony gaf...well those are all the same thing really.

Most significant hip hop album to you (note not best or greatest, just most significant)? The Chronic changed me from hip hop fan to hip hop obsessed.

Best thing about hip hop? Ability to express ideas, emotions, and opinions in a way no other form of music can touch
Worst thing? The homophobia and the lack of financial intelligence

Shittiest thing you've ever done? Fucked my best friends ex behind his back several times despite him begging me not to.
